Hailed a L very cool day/Cdy/Cdy cool/Cdy Mr Wright went to Hornquarter to carry horse & colt Carry. [Horn Quarter was a home George Taylor built in 1830, near Manquin, Va.] Carryed cultivater teeth etc I went to Mrs Southworths to borrow a tin of meal. Cutting wood etc. I went to Cedar fork this evening to the commencement hird several girls & boys speak. a good many persons there. Page Sutton & others from a distance I gave Bro Goodwin a list of propity. Lizzie E came down & went home. went to Cedar fork this evening left her there Mr Smith & Fannie wer at c. f. Lizzie & I came home L went back to night left Fannie there.

Cdy cool day/Cdy/Fair cool/Fair I cut & halled up wood etc went to Mr Saverys he has 8 pigs – Mrs S. came this evening & Mrs Southworth Mr Wright got back about 2 ock with Sally lue Bro Butzner came tonight with a pair of shoes for Thomasia too small. Lizzie England went home this morning – Lizzie went to Cedarfork & returned Mr W & I rung 2 hogs in pen & turned them out.

Cdy a L frost/Rain/Rain/Cdy I went to Cedar fork for potatoe Early Rose left nearly ½ for Sandy we planted them in garden Emma helped carryed a high hill manure in planted 3 roughs by walnut tree back of garden for Lizzie I got 2 cedar shavs for cart shelled 1 bu corn Mr Wright carryed it to Terrells went to Mrs D to see about my cart going to send it in morning Sandy came to day from Richmond. left ½ bu meal at Cedar fork for Sandy. Lesly came with Sandy for Mrs S. meal I borrowed cutting wood Lizzie sick to day. Mrs Tom Buckhannon is dead

Fair/Fair/Fair Cdy a L/Rain I started Mr Wright to cutting down pines in pasture I helped I carryed Lizzie home in buggy – I bought a bucket 25 cts & a pound soda washing 5 cts got the 2 lbs sugar pd for it before Lizzie & Nora wer at Cedar fork pearless came around by Mrs Lambies Sam B came for a pattern I got it at C. fork - Graday came with my cart to night.

Cdy a f. d. rain/Rain/Cdy/Rain Mr Graday came over he & Mr W. halled rails to do up fence next to Mrs Lambies steer gave out W. cutting pines lost 2 ½ or 3 hours by rain I went to Carmel Bro Nettles preached & Bro Riggan spoke, I pd 25 cts for Bro Baptis the church owed 6.00. Sandy Lesly & Grady came up for corn she ran to the gate going to Savery. I drove her down I sat a blew hen on 15 eggs

Cdy cool m/Rain/Rain/Rain Mr Wright & I went to hanover for fodder got all Mr Graday came to hall rails finished & carryed cart back Mr Wright cutting pines etc Lem Luck came to plough the tobacco [sets?] Sorney p ½ day. I put a shoat on old buggy out of green white oak Thomasia gone to Cedar fork Emma came by for peas etc gave her dinner Jennet came for horse carryed 1 bu corn to Terrells for me & some for himself Sam Buckhannon came to get me to alter hog I did it Lem finished ploughing tobacco land & went home put strap on my boot.

Rain day cool/Rain/Rain/Rain Sandy got hear from Landora to breakfast & borrowed my old over coat came back to night with Byron & Otho for cow & calf I roped him for them Mr R & I cut wood in tobacco house for house I got 3 guinie Eggs out of pasture river is rising fast. Linnies turkey hen has 20 young ones.

Byrons dog caught a hair by spring nearly did killed it I gave it to Cournal I pd 15 cts for soap 4 cts for stamp & card Mr Wright finished cutting the pines he & I commenced fencing by out gate next to Mrs Lambies got nearly to gap on swamp Sam Buck came up hear to try to get butter Byron came for buttermilk – Sam Brother came to day, Mr Wright lost about 2 hours by rain I cut wood & river is high

Fair frost a L/Rain/Cdy Fair/Fair I carryed the veal to Hewletts to send down to Mr Dandridge George Hanes went up rode a man wanted to by the calf at Hewletts Saw John McLA Mr Smith & Fannie came up to day & returned Mr S found turkey nest 6 eggs near big popler & cedar stump. Mr Wright fencing & cleaning on swamp he & I got cedar stakes Byron & Otho wer fencing came by us. I brought 2 letters over one for Jenny one for Nora Jenny came up & brought a letter to Thomasia out of hers from Thomasia a frost this morning

Mr Landrums sone was at scool joined 50 od Scollars Mr Wright went to Cty Line carryed shoes got of me $2.50 cts. price Lizzie child & Mrs. Clemmy England came & spent day

Fair warm/Fair/Fair/Fair Mr Wright & I shelled 1 ½ bu corn he carryed it to Terrells mill I made 36 watermellon hills halled 2 lodes of stable manure & planted in African watermellon seed from Lewis Redd,Mr W ploughed land near spring for potatoes & corn ploughed in garden etc I made a bench & put it by the kitchen -

Thomasia Luty & I went to Providence I got Mr Smith to cut my hair We stayed till 12 ock came home found Lizzie & child & Sue Buckhannon hear they left this evening Thomasia went to Cedar fork & store I went to Hunter B. for shoes saw Mr Savery there spoke for shoes for self I killed a long snake in pasture coler of rattle S. I found Mr Savery hear gave him milk to night.

Fair very very warm/Rain/Rain a Little/Fair I shelled 1 ½ bu corn & carryed it to mill Terrells I saw lots of folks padling playing etc etc Savery was there sent to Mrs Dervins for Mr Jentry he ground my meal Sorney Baker came for horse I gave him some beens to plant Jenny L. came this morning & stayed till 2 ock  returned Thundered etc.

Lizzie came hear to day & child stayed till evening – I pd John 25 cts owe 5 pd 6 cts to Young for stamps

Fair a L cool/Fair/Fair cool/Fair I put a handle in prong hoe & wed the peas – wed my watermellon patch over nearly Fannie came she & Thomasia went to Mrs Southworths this evening Lem Lucks man got Sal to work put but the beds to day. My watermellons are looking well. Edmond Redd came by went to Saverys – Tho & Fan soon came back Mrs Southworth from home I choped over tomatoe hills Lem Luck came to get matches I did not see him I made a mole trap & sat it in garden. lost a young turkey to day.

I gave Jas some watermellon seed Lewis hired African I planted 6 hills ground peas manured with hen house manure etc put out a blew hen with 13 chickens. I wed some watermellon hills wed some in garden etc Sandy carryed my chain home to put on cow Lilly, Emma came this morning helped to milk -

I nailed up the stores doar etc.
