Fair a little warm/Fair/Fair/Fair Cut stove wood went to rock spring to see Lem Luck he sent boy & [Sue?] after the horse to plough this Evening – Lizzie & Baby came & spent day brought a turkey hen with them L went to Mrs S a while Mrs Lambie & Jenn came this evening & sat a while Jenny is going to Richmond Monday to get Mrs L a bonnet etc etc I gave Lem some dwaft [dwarf?] broom corn seed & planted 2 rows in garden

Fair a warm d/Fair/Fair/Fair I went to Carmel Otho went by Sams & to Carmel I met with John & Bro Saml at Carmel they came home with me John went to Mrs Lambies. Mrs Southworth came & brought us cherries. Mrs Southworth came by they washed. Sandy Lizzie & child came to night. Bro Peniton was moderater to day saw Dandridges cow & calf. Thomasia went to cedar fork - & returned

Sam Buckhannon came up with his horse to hitch to Buggy John drove to Carmel Bro Saml & Cary wer there John carryed tomatoe plants down home went from meeting I had 11 or 12 Scollars to day Bro Riggan presented a cwilt to Dr Dickinson he preached a good sermond Moses David chose the afflictions with the people of God rather than pleasure etc etc [Hebrews 11: 25 Moses chose a hard life with God’s people, not an easy life with the Egyptian royals] Dr Lin came pulled tooth for Lizzie she went home

Rain a L/Rain/Cdy/Rain I shelled 1 ½ bu corn carryed it to mill had it ground went to Hewletts & got a gallon oil pd 25 cts for it. Saw Ct Buttler at H. on his way to mill. My foot hurts very bad. I sat out some tomatoe plants watered them wed some potatoes etc in garden Emma came down Joh brooks came for chickins did not get them up over took him by Mr Hains near Hewletts. I borrowed umbrella at Mrs Lambies. Jenny went to Richmond saw 2 snakes today. (Cousin Robert Tompkins died a short time ago 20 of last month) [maybe Robert Redd Tompkins, 1811 – 1877??]

Cdy warm/Cdy/Cdy thundering & L/Rain Lizzie & chile came hear to day went back after dinner left carriage in Mrs South I sat out tomatoes have 30 above fence on flat. manured 6 roughs for greens & one for cymblains sat out 3 hills – it is thundering & lightning a good deel a dark cloud rising west. warm day. Oppy came for clothes

I sat out 2 roughs sweet potatoes watered them watered cymblains etc Fannie came & sat a while Lizzie & child came & sat a while Thomasia went with her to Mrs South. Mrs Robinson & Jenny came to night brought a letter from Lucy H saying the box would be at Bro Saml about now

Cdy/Fair/Fir/Fair Lem Luck came & ploughed tobacco land & sowed broom corn seed etc I put up chickens for Joh did not come. we went to Providence for Linnie & Gwinnet we dined & came home Mr Smith finished setting out tobacco Molly Buck came to Prov Linnie stoped at Mrs Lambies Tho went to Western view to look for turkeys Edmond came for pluerissa-root [pleurisy root, a plant used for coughs] gave him some watermellon seed. I cut out 3 e greens

Sandy came by going to Hanes for tobacco plants – 2 Landora men with him

Lem Luck came to set out tobacco plants setting in frunt of the House brought his children down to drop plants Emma & children came. Linnie went to Mrs Lambies this morning came back to night. Lizzie & child came & L went to Mrs Lambies on Lem Lucks mule went home. Lem Luck finished setting out tobacco plants. went to mill in cart Sorney helping to plant tobacco & boy. I gave him broom corn seed

F gave me some was [wax?] cherries I planted seed back of garden & set out tomatoes made 2 hills for his goards & set them out – thined & sowed lime on watermellon hills. saw Wright & Otho at spring Linnie went this evening to Mrs Lambies Gwinnet to Saverys Lizzie & child & Estelle came this evening Saverys oxen came in hear this evening he came for them I shelled 1 bu corn this evening -

I went up for them this evening & brought them down 12. young ones put them in tobacco house Jennet came to plough potatoe patch & halled 2 lodes ashes put in drill I wed 6 roughs potatoes irish Lem Luck came by ploughed more this evening Gwinnet & Luty came this evening made coop & put hen out w 12 c chickens.

I stuck butter beens wed potatoes etc one row Butter beens Lizzie & child came this evening rode to Edmonds & Butzners carryed a pair shoes to mend boy came for 3 years corn to reeplant got some been sticks. I took off one shirt under one. cutting wheat at Providence

I went to Golansville for a barrell oil barrell pd 30 cts I pd $1.50 cts to Sue for shoes old account. swaped hat for Mrs Southworth that was bought there. got a lb nails for Jentry 5 cts Mrs Dervin is quite poly I left some meal with Lizzie Linnie went up this morning to seed cherries came back tonight – turned turkeys out gone off again Sam Buckhannon came for sythe cradle to cut wheat

Fair/Rain a hard one/Fair/Fair Thomasia & I went by E. hill & to Mr Smiths for Linnies Turkeys they had them in house Mr S. has an idiot sone. I brought gobler on horse put him in pit – Harriet & children came up this evening – spent evening. Jenny Lamby & Fannie Dukes came stayed till after rain & wind hard blown Linnie went with them to night I sored [sawed?] barrell in to [two] to make washing tubs I killed a large striped snake in pasture.

Fair cool/Fair/Fair/Fair I made a staf & dasher for Jenny carryed it down she went home this morning Gwinnet went to cedar fork for Lizzie & child came on horse went down this evening to Providence Thomasia & children went Mr Jas Smith was there & Wm Dandridge finished cutting wheat with reper Lewis Redd came over & skined 3 apple trees caught 2 hairs & killed snake. I brought up 2 small bundles wheat one smooth heads 1 bearded. Lizzies horse ran to rock spring.

Jenny Lambie came up this evening and is going back

I carryed bundle over river to Mrs. Smith 2 boys w. her. Emma came to wash & churn
