Fair cool day/Cdy/Fair/Fair I went with Gwinnet to Providence & spent day rode grey H cut my hair I looked at a plough Mr S sayed I could take John went up the river koon h killed one I brought up some onions etc from Providence

Rain/Rain/Cdy/Cdy Sandy & I shelled 2 bushels corn Mr Jas Smith came & spent morning looking for a servant she did not come. a pretty cloce rain night to Spicers swamps are high. I bated dog trap wth Hair at gate caught a dog in trap got out through slats.

Fair cool/Fair/Fair/Fair I caught a grey fox in steel trap he gone spring caught several days ago I worked on house a little Sandy went to Terrells with 3 bu corn he went to Landora Lizzie England came down to night all gone down to Mrs Englands. Herman came to enquire about Carmel dedication etc John came to night from Bro S.

Fair mild/Fair/Fair/Fair S. carried 5 hoes & buggy saddle to Mr Weltons to send to Jas Sandy & I went back again this evening with rabbits & pot & stue pan to send over to Jas John came this evening with sweet potatoes he gone to west field with Jas Wood Byron & Otho are hear to night. Thomasia went to Mrs S. & spent evening. I made a hot bed sowed 4 or 5 kinds of tomatoes & potatoes irish – met with Avery etc at Weltons John M Worler shot himself this yesterday m.

Fair cool/Fair/Fair/Fair Put sweet potatoes in hot bed by sowed irish potatoe seed in garden & on swamp Gwinnet got caught in steel trap that Sandy sat near spring I caught a fox or something got out Sandy fixed up buggy & went to Providence for an old plough. Sam Buckhannon & Lesly came by went fishing. I went to Noel with them & John Mr Smith came over & John went back with him. I put out a hen blue with 13 chicks John McL hen. Oho dog caught in dog trap on river cutting wood etc

Fair cool/Fair/Fair/Fair John went to Cty Line went to Cor Woods to dinner Mr Smith Fannie & Linnie came to dinner we went to cedar fork to S.S. – I had 10 or 12 S. taught in end room a great many persons there Sandy went to Landora & spent the day I came by Mrs Lambies & got a paper of onions cloves. Savery Linsy & Trevillion wer in my class.

Fair cold morning & night/Fair/Fair/Fair Sam B Otho & Les came by to fish I caught Byrons dog in steel trap wheet patch Sandy carryed 300 lbs casting to Hewletts & traded for points fish etc got $1.00 for it we fixed up the plough John went to Jas Smiths came back to night Sandy & L went fishing caught several fish I got a hair foot out steel trap barked log on tobacco house etc G went to scool to day (large frost)

Fair mild day/Cdy/Cdy/Rain a L John went to Goochland Sandy w to Hewletts bought $1.00 worth sugar & coffee & $1.00 on meet. I caught a ground hog in steel trap ivy hill I put the skin away in allum & salt. Lizzzie E & Mord spent evening & returned gave her some big goard seed she carryed S. brace home all went fishing & caught a string fish I bated hole at ivy hill rock Sandy & I halled up a log I notched it up Lesly S, came with Gwinnet went fishing Sandy got irons from Duke & he mended clivy I made the swingle tree to put the irons in charged $1.25 he owes me for 2 koons $1.00 one oposom 25 cts.

Fair Rainy/Cy mild/Cdy/Fair I went to see Jennet about cutting logs came by Mr Saverys Mrs S gave me a slip of fitz roses sat it on swamp stuck it in a potatoe Sandy ploughing by garden - Mr Jas Smith came this evening & sat a while took up all my traps & greesed them. I hird whipowills Sandy m Sorkin & ground robin hollow warm to day Several dogs hear last night S & L w fishing this I caught 22 m-rats 6 koons 3 moonacks 3 minks & 2 foxes & 3 or 4 hairs in steel traps this winter & spring

Windy Rain a Little/Cdy Rain/Cdy Rain a L/Fair Burnt trash by smoke house Sandy ploughing by house moved slabs etc Lem Luck is ploughing on swamp near island saw a otter track in swamp I saw a black snake he was runing from me did not kill him – wind blew hard blew a pannel of the garden down Sandy & I put it up S. went to river fishing I have some goards comeing up in hot bed etc I sat one of Johns hens on 18 eggs got 12 out of pines

Fair a little cool/Fair/Fair/Fair I turned the Cows in side hear look very full to night Thomasia & Gwinnet walked to Providence I went down this evening in buggy for them I fenced in the plant bed & wheat patch I put the net in river. Sandy & I shelled 1 ½ bushels corn S, carryed it to Terrells Fannie gave T 4 duck eggs. S went fishing & bated net.

Fair cool morning/Fair/Fair/Fair I went to Hewletts got 30 cts worth from Goodwin got 2 letters for Lambies saw Winston Sandy & I fixing wagon bolster etc Mr Jas Smith & Lem & Old Man Luck came in evening Lem saw Dear in field by rock spring & he & Dick & Spicer dug ground hog out hill in Mrs S. Linnie came up on horse & spent day Sandy went back with her in sight of house Jenny Lambie came in evening we started to role log to house Lem Luck planting corn in peach orchard

I went to Mrs Lambies looking for Lilly found her in the pasture a dog sucked Egg by hen house last night I sat 2 steel traps for him

Mr Smiths wer there & Linnie I caught Max in steel trap had been sucking eggs – Savery nor B Trevillion wer not at S.S. John Terrell took a class (boys small)
