Hens lay -

Fair thundered/Cdy/Cdy/Fair Warm day I finished rake & fixed horse bucket Lizzie came home this morning a large swarm of bees went off to day. I chinked a hive to put bees in. Tho. burning chips etc. in yard by meet house – (how to make hens lay take 3 bushels oats & grind fine, 3 bushels bran & 1 of shorts. Mix well, & feed twice a day will wet up feed on a plank.)

Hal & Hermon Anderson came for H met her on rode & carryed her  Home. Lizzie & Linnie came from strawberry hunting sent Dr Lin a bucket full. Hal brought a letter from John to Jas. Fannie spent day at Kenedys – Billy Mongumry died a few days ago on rail rode his corps brought down to day on cars Ned Burrows is dead drink killed him [William H. Montgomery, of Hanover, died 22 May 1872.]
