Fair/Fair/Fair/Fair I went to Golans ville voted for Sam Swann & Dr Buttler & others [Samuel Edgar Swann served as the Representative from Caroline County to the Virginia House of Delegates, 1871-1877; Dr. John Dabney Butler (M.D.) ran as a Delegate in the same election]  Jas went in evening – Mr Buckhannon came in the morning went back – I went to Providence with Thomasia Linnie & Gwinnet. walked & spent night John & Tom (election)

Fair/Fair/Fair/Fair I spent day at Providence sale going on I bought several things Mr Hurndon was at sale he bought 3 or 4 cows. oxen soled for 139 ½ dollars. a yoke [?] $80.00 (Providence Sale)

Cdy/Rain/Fair/Fair H & Fannie & I went to Providence for a lode of things – brought up barrells chirs etc left 12 at Providence John gave me twisters box etc & Jas came in Edmonds cart he came up this evening Jas gone down with him to night Thomasia got a letter from John he has watermellons now. has 4 wild horses – we stoped at Edmonds out rain Lizzie at Kenidys. Horn shelling corn a little

Fair cool day/Fair/Fair frost/Fair Mahorn came & shelled a bushel corn & I carryed it to mill with mine Horn w down I went to Huletts got this paper pd 40 cts. got a bag hair nearly 1 bu of Boughn got – stamps for Tho & Lizzie 9 – met Dr Lin gave me – my account to day – I went to mill to night – for meal – Susan Southworth is hear to night Edmond came & spent day Jas & E went hair hunting Jas brought 2 pigs up. one black one white – Mrs Nancy Anderson is dead. I hear died a weak ago [possibly Nancy Frances Anderson, 4 June 1820 – 31 Oct 1871?]
