Cary came over James went with him to night sent Sam & Mr Buttler saw Tom hird heavy firing north west this evening I expect it was Jackson [Battle of Cedar Mountain, Culpeper Co, Virginia, Confederate victory for Jackson] Robert Aunt Mily & Queen came up brought some hats for boys from  Sister Sarah Isac 1 days w {finished halling up wheat at E Hill shelled corn sent to mill etc.
