Rain/cdy/Fair/Fair Mild  I went to Edge hill & moved my potatoes etc from cellar went back in the evening & brought down the fowls. Mr Jessey Hulett came to see me about hireing Aggy Lewis came & dined {moveing things down sent the Dr, wagon home etc Lanzy came home halling wood brought down cutting box & oats etc

a lare frost/Fair/Snowing/F  I went to Carmel Bro Taylor preached Text 7th ch 1st Corin 29. & 30th verses communed I gave 12. cts to P. Sister S & Bettie & Emily went to Carmel in Bro S, carriage Bro S, Eugene & Clarrence cme hear to day went back in evening went to see Mrs Taylor with Thomasia & Bettie to night she is very poly Mr Southworth was there.

Redd & Lewis R came & went to Mrs Terrells to night Dr Gouldin came up to night from ["home S," lined through] Charles & Wm came with wagon I stayed in low house with Dr Gouldin went to Edge hill and put a glass in in sellar window put glass in chaimber window etc etc {cutting wood on meadow halling etc brought down some things from Edge hill etc

Snowing/Fair/Fair/Fair The ground nearly covered with snow, it melted very fast. Dr G sent his wagon back home Robert – went with the wagon as far as Milfoard bridge the water was high Mr Gouldin came over from Bro Saml, Dr  & Sister S. bought Robert for $1000. James T Redd & Lewis came spent day James hired Aggy for $15. carryed her to Bro Saml Charles went J Hulett came to try to hire Ag – {Brought down 19 hogs from Edge hill killed 17. put them in corn house to night put 2 in pen etc

L frost Fair cold w/Fair/Fair/Fair Cold morning large frost  I weighed my hogs & pigs 17 weighed 1234 lbs. Mr Taylor had 3 they weighed 231 lbs I examined the secretary & found a check to amount of $2.50 & $37.58 cts in cash. sent for Mr Harris he & Mr Wiltshire estimated the fodder 6 stacks 3750 lbs. I went to Edge Hill for tools to make a coffin for Mrs Taylor she died this morning Mr Tate & Southworth came to help Mr Dickinson & Davis came to see about there fodder. Mr Sutton moved to day I sent two carts to Huletts with Mr Gouldins things Dr Gouldin Mr Gouldin Sister Sarah & Bettie Redd went over to Bro Saml, {sent to rail rode cutting & halling wood etc etc

Fr/Cdy/Rain/Cdy Rain cool day  Mr Tate & I finished the coffin for Mrs Taylor Bro Phillips came & preached her funeral I went by Edge Hill & to Cty Line to the burrial Jessey got barouch & carry Harriet & Evvy Lina Taylor to Cty Line. came by – the store bought some cheese 3 lbs 12 cts pr shoes $1.25 one bottle turf oil 25 cts [Dove & Co. in Richmond sold turf oil to help cure bruises, sprains, burns, ulcers, wounds etc. in man or beast] $1.87 {made cow pen by End field & straw rack & put the cattle in put straw in rack Bob & Robert went to Cty Line to burrial & to dig grave etc

R cdy/cdy/Fair/rain Mild day  Mr Dickinson sent for his fodder to day carryed 2 stacks away Mr Davis chose his stack I picked one for Billy Quarles 600 lbs. I went to Edge hill carryed a bond for the rent of Edge hill to Mr Sutton Llewellyn went went up for me. I put 7 glass in harness – shop windows Bob went to Mr Southworths for 2 sides Leather price $3.00 each $6.00 May day had her 4th calf male pale red. {cutting & halling wood brought down 4 bags bran from Edge Hill sent sausage meet to Providence to grind

Fair cold/Fair cold/Fair/Fair windy  Henry enquired for safe Edmond Redd came & dined he had a horse trade with Brook Mrs Southworth & Susan came over this evening Susan spent the night Mr Taylor brought up May day & calf {shelled corn commenced on new sent to mill cutting & halling wood put some in cellar hallling for Mr Taylor Lanzy laid up

Fair cold./F. cold/Fair/Fair a very cold day. & night last  I bought a chain of Robert gave him 25 cts & a coffee mill for chain Dr Gouldin went down carryed Robert had my cow pen moved to E field barn put the cows in etc made hog pen by out gate etc put a brush around cow pen. A Mr Durett came & collected $10.75 cts for W. W Smith for repairs fof buggy Ct Buttler came by barn {moved cow pen made hog pen halling wood brush etc

Fair cold/Fair milder/Fari/cdy A very cold morning & night last rather milder  Cleaned out harness shop put Bob makg – Johns shoes I helped. brought down my out hogs put them in pen out gate made bed etc for them sent to Edge Hill for corn Mr Taylor went to store for 5 yds yellow flannel at 30 cts a yard {Bob shoe makg cutting & halling wood halled some corn down from Edge hill

Fair cool/Fair mild/Fari/Fair a pretty day mild evening.  Mr A P Luck came by said the Dr had filled his ice house Mr Sutton getting ice. Thomasia got a letter from Harrriet Ann. I went to Edge hill for my work bench & part of tools etc Llewellyn & James dined at Mr Suttons to day put up bench in harness shop Harriet is laid up with bad cole etc. I put on flannel last night draws [drawers] have pain in ne [knee] Mr Davis got his loom grind stone etc he got a wagon lode straw from my barn. Mr Sutton borrowed 1/2 br corn in years {Bob shoemaking. cutting & halling wood etc halling corn from Edge hill etc

Fair mild day/Fair/Rain/Cdy Cool morning  I fixed up my bench in – harness shop vice etc carryed hogs to out gate Bro Saml, & Sister Sarah came & spent the day I sent a letter to Cousin Edmond Tompkins for sugar by Bro Saml, Edmond came to night John went to Providence to try to – borrow a little sugar failed getting it Llewellyn went to John Dickinsons to night. {shoemaking, stoped ice pond old fish pond sent for some turnips at Edge hill shelled a little corn etc

Bettis etc

Fair/cdy/Fair/cdy Mild day  I made a bird box put it up locus tree in yard fixed up bee hive etc I went to Edge hill soled Mr Sutton my top stack for 1/-  foot it measured 99 feet Llewellyn came home Nancy went to Anna came back to night. James rode to Bro Saml, came back.  I pd Jos Dabney, Brother $5.00 for him for footing & pair boots Sally Southworth – came to night. {Bob finished Lanzys shoes 13 1/2 in long shelled corn sent it to mill sent a bag for Sally sent for it this evening made straw rack filled it with straw cutting & halling wood etc.

Rain a litle/hail a little/Fair cold/cdy mild day  Clarrence went home John got from Bro Saml with 10 lbs 8d nails ["d" stands for penny; 2 1/2 in long] borowed I went in woods for oak logs cut down 2 sent them to mill for larths I went to mill spoke to Mr Buckhanon for a puppy black bull, saw Emond etc Mr John Terrell Wm P Terrell came down in the woods wants money. I put on a lock on the dary. Billy Quarles & Mr Chanler went home about 11 ock. I went to Edge hill bulked down a a part of my tobaco Mr Sutton sent for the barn key put a part of his tobacco in the barn the river is quite ["poly" lined through] high sent Jessey to Depot for sugar got one barrell & 100 or 110 lbs from Cousin Edmond Tompkins sent an order for the year – {sent to Depot went in woods for some timber for larths carryed 2 stocks to mill cutting & haling wood stoping ice pond etc

Fair cold/F nearly a clear day/cold Fair/Fair cold night last cold day  I spent the day at home the ice 1 inch thick on pond Mr Wiltshire & wife at Anna, to day I hear.

a l frost Fair cold/Fair/Fair/Fair/Fair a large frost  I went to Wm Talleys & dined he is going to Town the last of the weak or first of next I went by Mr Browns – saw Dr Lin went to Mrs Burruss, stoped at the mill offered the miller 12 1/2 cts for 30 fowls sent him word I would take them in morning Edmond came by carryed Llewellyn to Mr Suttons to night. Thomasia had 20 turkeys killed to day {cutting & halling wood halled a log for slabs sent Bob to mill

Fair cold/Fair/cdy/cdy mild  I went to the mill for some fowls got – 26 of Mr Buckhannon gave 12 1/2 cts each Mr Quarles & Chanler came this morning commenced at 10 ock put up rafters & weatherboarded one end put on larths etc I went to the mill this evening to have a log sawed in larths & tryed to get some planks met with Lis – Cobbs riving slabs or boards {dug a hole in ice house put in poles flore etc sent a barrell fowls to Depot turkeys etc moving Mariah things etc sent to mill for larths etc etc

F/cdy/cdycdy & misty  I went to slash for some timber cut down a slab tree & a tree for larths halling to mill etc Mr Sutton came to see me about house etc Page Sutton – her sister came to night or this evening I went to the mill to see about sawing Wm Robinson came to see about Sallys house etc Mr Quarles & Chanler riving slabs etc {cutting & halling logs to house & mill got some larths from mill chinking ice house with straw etc halled some things for Moriah she moved down this evening

damp day etc/fair a part of day. R to night/F/a little cool to night  the boys came from koon hunting this morning staid out all night all but Llewellyn. Cary came over & spent the day he & Boy went home this evening Dr Anderson sent his wagon to hep to move my tobacco & oats, 2 lodes tobacco and 4 lodes oats. lent Mr Sutton 3 hampers of corn. I went by store bought goods to the amount of $1.22 cts pd for them went by L Terrells bought 4 1/2 lbs candles of Mrs Terell pd her for them 75 cts, gave William 5 cts. the river is very hight up to rock spring & rising recd a letter of A P – Luck {halled my tobacco down from E Hill to E field barn halled 4 lodes oats Lanzy halling wood went to mill carryed 6 bushels to mill corn.
