Rain this morning an[d] a great part of the night sheared sheep one ewe had 8 1/2 lbs wool Thomasia H & I went to Providence the Dr is poly met with Dr Lin twice Miss Moriah went to John Swann, Betty at Ma, Tho got a letter from H Anders have grass H [grasshoppers swarmed in Texas in 1858, devouring wheat and cotton; letter from Harriet Anderson] {shelled corn sheared sheep set out cymblains between H & shop

Fair most of the day James Johnson & Lewis Redd came to look at bee House John McL Anderson came & spent the day brought 2 frocks for children my steers got in middle brooks put them in field no 3 weeding watermellon hills etc {commenced packing tobacco in H-hd reeplanting corn F no 1. ploughing tobacco ground & set out some plants by middle gate

Rain this evening thundering a good deel warm day cdy most of the day I trimed – up several trees in the yard Thomasia & I – went to Ma, this evening. Betty is there – H came up with is [us?] jumped off the horse – {setting out tobacco reeplanting ploughing new ground in corner of patch wed cymblains weeding cotton sent 1 bl corn to mill

Rain a good deel this morning I trimed up the locus trees to day – went to Carmel Bro Fox preached Bro Saml was there saw Saml at Ma, Thomasia & I went after straw berries at my patch H & John went to see Miss Ann Hatton. {halled some manure for irish potatoes back of apple orchard halled lode wood to Mr Taylors wed irish potatoes or pulled the grass hilling sweet potatoes ploughed new ground for tobacco set out a part weeding cotton

Fair a warm day I commenced putting tobacco in hogshead in the Barn etc went to Bro Saml to dinner Thomasia & children went to Lukes & to Bro S, Molly head-ach Dr Chanler & Mr Terrell came to Bro Saml we came home to night Llewellyn rode my Horse back {finished setting out tobacco in new ground putg tobacco in Hhd. planted irish potatoes back of apple orchard on swamp commenced weeding corn & ploughing at L Hill for tobacco

Mr Terrell commenced weeding his corn by shop Mr Wiltshire & Mrs went to Anna, Young Duke came to barn to day Mr Harris sent me 1/2 bu potatoes {getting tobacco land at L Grove, halling out manure ploughing  weeding corn this evening weeding cotton etc

F. & I Hill red to Mrs Taylor etc came to Ma, I walked on the river etc Brooks finished his fence from creek to cross fence mine John has 2 morking birds Mr H sent for blade L night {Finished prepairing for tobacco at Mr Taylors ploughing & weeding corn etc shelled corn f Mr Taylor & self sent it to mill etc

Cdy morning I put 2 teeth in cultivater. I rode Sal to E Field & in Mt Airy Morgan-hunter passed by. going to the Dr, I stoped at Ma, Ma, & girls went to Mrs Cobbs place. Thomasia children & I went to Ma, Betty walked to Mr Taylors with us. Joh Taylor was at Ma, this morning Llewellyn at Ma, {ploughed the patches, throughing dirt to the corn on hill side corner pines – hung up the tobacco at E field etc weeding corn choping briers etc

Fair cdy part of d I went to Mrs Cobbs to see L Terrrell about bying ox cart etc he bought it I hear for $10.00 for Wm Talley I went to E field cutting wheat saw Bro Saml, & Ed Bro Lowerys had cattle that they bought went to Ma, going to put steers in her pasture. Martha, chile is quite sick to night sent for the Dr he did not come I gave Bro S indigo {cutting wheat finished guanoed land etc
