Raining a little to night cdy evening fair morning & cool Mr Harris sent his men for 3 pigs. Mr Wiltshire came for 4 gave me $2.00 for two pd me 5. Bro Saml, came & sayed 11 pigs altered 20. turned out 7 or 8 I went to creek Wm Robinson doing up fence etc I went to Ma, with Bro Saml we went to see Mr Taylor saw Miss Bettie Hill at Ma, I pd Llewellyn $5.00 to take to Fredericksburg after Ma, horse {Sowing oats by rock spring & on swamp runing from kitchen 9 1/2 bushels etc sowed clover seed fencing on creek etc etc

Rainy most of the day rained last night faned out oats etc I went to shop & store came by Mr Taylors & Ma, sent stack fodder to Ro [Bro?] Anderson by Bob bought 2 papers pins 1/- saw Burruss & Trevillion Swann etc killed the wild tame turkey {faned out oats shucking corn sent fodder to R. A. sent to shop fencing etc cleaned – out shop etc etc

Rainy morning fair after the morning I went with Thomasia to to Providence for Lizzie went to Carmel Bro Poindexter preached he came up – home with us Saml came up we went to Ma, & to Mr Taylors talked with him etc Sandy morkin bird hollar [sandy mockingbird was a brown thrasher] {sent corn to the mill Bob hewing garden post by shop fencing etc etc etc

Fair windy Cold to night I made a pattern & started to shop met with Mr Harris, & came back sent to have – ditch open on tobacco bed, out gate, etc fire got away to day by tobaco land – hewing slats for gate back of the barn Mr Taylor came up to day & stayed a while {sowing oats by barn 12 bushels raked in from stacks to corner fence ploughing in etc grubing by middle gate etc etc

Fair a cool day I finished sowing all the clover seed I had by barn & spring I went to Cty Line Bro Broaddus spoke on education going to have a female collage in Freedericksburg. I went as a delicate [delegate] Edmond John & Clarrence came to night I carryed some patter[n]s to shop came by Ma, saw Sister Emily at Ma, - George Quarles came with boys {finished sowing oats 7 1/2 bushels laid off watermellon patch etc grubing etc sowed clover seed etc

Edmond went by Brooks & to river John & Clarrence went fishing I fixed the fishing hole with – slabs etc cdy day cool had some turkey eggs stolen to day little ewe had first lam. {halled a lode straw, stoping hog poles by Anna etc, ploughing new land for tobacco east from the house. etc opening holes for water mellons etc grubing new groung [ground]

Rain very hard this morning fair day windy south win warm I went with John to river bated hole, carryed John Clarrence & Llewellyn over the river I met with Terrell  Mr T. at the gate I went to C, shop & to Tates went to new ground by Hills shop plant bed etc {shelled turn corn Lanzy stoping hog holes on road halled a lode wood for Mr Taylor ploughing new ground by middle gate grubing etc finished holes for watermellon hills

Fair very warm day heard whipowills hollow Thomasia & James went to see Mrs Hatton., she is very low, I, went to Bro Saml, this evening set out some (woodvines) & lillies spoke for 1 bu potatoes sweet, Saml & John came to Ma, Louisa came up to day Sister Emily came up Munday Mrs Southward got 16 bls bacon for $1.50, several whippowills hollar {put manure in water mellon hills ploughing new ground grubing etc Mr Taylor came up to day – sent to mill

Fair a cool day I went to Carmel carryed the children to Sunday – school I had a class Dickinson 2 Mitchels & Mony Rennols Thomasia & Llewellyn went to Ma, I walked down Bro Saml Mary & John – wer there went home this evening

Rain a litle this morning & this evening I went to new ground by H, shop for timber to make pailings for garden [paling: fence made from pointed wooden stakes] cut down 4 trees one white oak I went to Mr T, by Ma, went to shop this evening made Noah alter some irons etc saw Terrell & Mr Carson at store bought 1 yd janes 12 1/2 cts [jeans, twill fabric] {housed the corn that we shucked yesteray halled 2 lodes slab timber striping tobacco at E field

Rain Hailed a great deel at Ma, some at the mill I went to shop carryed pirch to wagon had screw cut on it brought power irons – home I went to Ma, to dinner Thomasia & children went – in the morning. I went to Mahons to get him to work Edmond was at Ma, went to Walker Terrells stoped at mill it hailed, brogught up the children & walked down to Ma, for Thomasia Mary & Bettie wer there thundered lightened saw rain bough {cutting & hewing post diging post holes etc grubing new ground etc sent a plough to Col, shop to have nib put on

Fair a frost cool Mr Mahon came to work on garden rove some slabs hewed some post etc, we put up the garden pails from corner by new house to gate put in one gate post etc, planting corn etc Mr S came this evening a while {planting corn field no. 1 etc

Rain a pretty shower this evening I worked on garden tiill evening I worked on garden till evening Mr Mahon went to store I pd – him $1.00 I went to Ma, Mary Betty Sister Emily Louisa Ann Emily Susan Talley & Llewellyn wer there Kitty S, came to night Thomasia & Harriet & John went to see Mrs Hatton very low left H there sent to Bro S, for 1 1/2 bu s potatoe seed cart broke {sent to mill for meal sent for Mr Taylor & grubing by Rock spring ploughed a cotton patch by Black S shop halling manure to it etc borrowed – Ma, plough Bob ploughing this evening

Rain a little fine I went to Mrs Hattons for Harriet she is very low indeed saw Mr Collins on the rode I worked on my wagon a little runs easy Clarrence came & John this evening fixed stable for his horse hird Aunt Mary Tompkins died a day or two ago & Cousin Harriet Tompkins Edmon, wife {ploughing high hill grubing on meadow halling manure to Cotton patch B S, shop

Cary came Henry Grey looked at my wagon. lant my barouch to Sister Sarah {finished shucking corn & houseing it etc halling out manure grubing on river etc about garden etc etc

Fair a cool morning it was saided there was frost very cool to night I made a garden gate got some pailins of Ma,. Mr Terrell commenced planting corn by Black S shop planted peas & potatoes gave T some peas Thomasia & I went to Ma, carryed her to Elon in my carriage Bro Saml Sister Emily Miss B Hill & Betty wer there from Bro – Saml he got my plaister etc, at Huletts plough & p side land etc sent Mahon 1/2 bl corn to mill at 1.50 {shelled corn sent to mill etc a 1/2 bl for Mahon planted sweet potatoes & a little – cotton on hard ground peas etc planting corn on high hill ploughed some in the garden & cymblain patch by house & shop

Rain Snow it commenced in morning & snowed till evening the largest flakes I think I ever saw some wer 2 or 3 in. Ches Joh went to Mrs Hattons for Harriet long melted very fast about 1 or 1 1/2 in deep a little to night wash steer got hung & hurt.

Rain this evening a large frost cdy most of the day & cool I went to shop to have 2 irons punched leaver 2 Clarrence came with Llewellyn to day I went to see Sister Cobbs Fleming I carryed Thomasia to Mrs Hattons she is very low left her there I bought 25 cts worth oil {Bob went to Huletts turn out for 2 tuns plaister made 2 lodes grubing fencing back of garden set out 2 squares of greens etc

Fair a very cool day north w Terrell planting his corn by the spring etc let him have some tar lent him old Lam steer to rake land Luce cow has a calf male she – gave nearly a blue buckett of milk I fixed the lock to garden gate etc Dr Lin came by going to Grimes, I sent for Thomasia she did not come Mrs H is very low C & L went to Terrells sent John to store for 3 lbs coffee & 2 irons C & L went to Ma to night. {burning bruch in meadow planting corn on high hill stoping holes in garden halling manure to cymblain patch sent to Bro S, for plough points etc

I worked on wagon & gate ete went to Mrs Hattons for Thomasia H went left her there the old lady is very low Terrell finished planting corn had my steer & plough I went to Ma, & to E Field. {planted corn on high hill manured & ploughed the cymblain patch planted 3 rows grubing on river ploughing by san bank etc
