Fair cool day Thomasia & Betty Redd went with me to Carmel Bro Taylor preached. Ma was taken sick & came home Thomasia with her, borrowed my barouch to go to meeting in we dined at Ma, she is better Kitty S went home John & Columbia – went home this evening

Fair mild day I went to Ma, & to Hills shop sawed off 3 logs & carryed one to mill brought a lode of slabs home to slab up wagon house at Ma, Edmon came up to diner Mr Wiltshire was at Anna, I went to Ma, to nail up wagon house mashed my finger Molly & Loula came to Ma, brough Lu up with me {sowing guano at E field ploughing it in Henry ploughing halled stock to mill halled up 3 loads corn shucking halled a lode wood slabs etc etc

Fair nearly clear frost pretty day I – went to Ma, nailed on larths on wagon house at Ma, went to E field & nailed up the shed with tobacco Longan came by Mrs Swann & Mary M Redd came up & spent the day [Mary Minor Redd, 1833-1883?] went to Ma, Loula went Linzy Terrell sent a qr of beef hin qr {sowing wheat 4 bushels rakg it in ploughing etc halling up corn 5 l shuckg shelled corn sent to the mill for self & Mr Taylor

Fair a large frost cool morning I went to Ma, & E field sowed a litle red wheat stabler [experimental variety, grown with guano] Betty quite poly. I brought Loula up with me. the girls went to Mr Taylors this evening. I went to Carmel met with Bro Fox & sexton etc Robert halling shingles from rail roade Thomasia went to Mr Southworths to se Pertha has a nedle in her leg [Isadora Pertha Southworth, 1850 – 1929] I weighed a qr of beef Terrells 97 lbs {sowing wheat 4 1/2 bushels 4 bu white at E field ploughing etc halling up corn shucking halled a lode wood etc

Rain a litle I went to Old Mr Wilson Davist sale in Spotsylvania saw Mr Harris & wife Cousin Fanney & Elizabeth Oliver in the road. things sold pretty well. Clarrence came this evening went to Ma, or home started with Loula she came back {sowing wheat 2 1/2 bushels halling up corn 4 loads shucking halled a lode wood

Clarrence & Llewellyn hunting etc Mr Taylor had bag flour 92 lbs next years {cutting rail timber & malling rails – Mr S. halling up corn shuckg etc halled a load wood sent to mill shelled a turn corn etc sent my cloth home etc

Fair a large frost I went by Ma, & to rail rode to look for bags & car met with Dr Nelson & Bro Saml at Hewletts turn out saw several trains Ma sent 1/2 of a small beef to me I mended the flour or meal tray this evening it was split in to I brought over some bags for Bro Saml wheat wants 12 bu (Edmond went home) {cut a lode poles & finished hog pen cutting down corn halling up shucking etc etc etc etc

Rain & Hail this evening cool a very windy day s. w win it changed to north west I went to Ma, & to E field faning wheat met with Bro Saml he got 12 bushels wheat at market price deducting carriags put up in fattening pen 14 hogs {faning wheat at E field Bro Saml had 12 bu by measure halled up 2 lodes of corn & one lode leaves in hog pin put up 14 hogs in pen

Fair a very cold day the ground frozen all day I went to Rail rode for bags got 75 met with Dr Nelson & Bro Saml had a car left this evening saw Mr Buttler at turn out stoped at Ma, Mr Harris & wife came there to day Wiltshire came by saw Mr Taylor about cow Livy moved this evening Brooks patching up his house I put 60 bu wheat in bags Edmond came up with we stoped at Ma, put wheat in bags {makg hog shelter shucking corn halling wood for Mr Taylor etc

Fair cold & windy I went to Ma, with Edmond went to E field to have wheat put in carts had 30 bushels put in Ma, cart & started broke down borrowed Edmonds wagon & halled a lode My cart halled 2 lodes makg 93 bushels by measure in all locked up in car Lane came over to Ma, to day I put 4 or 5 window glass in this evening Llewellyn went to Cty Line {halled 93 bushels white wheat to Hewletts turn out sent 4 bu corn to mill halling wood etc Robert putg up his top stack boys helped. .

Fair a cold day very cold morning & night last, Thomasia & Jimy went to Providence, I went to rail road met with Dr Nelson, my wheat went down to day. stoped at Ma, I went down this evening measured Ma carriage box Thomasia stoped Betty is comeing up in the morning – {made a hog shelter, & a brush pile at the barn to brake the wind halled up one lode corn shuckg etc put away the greens fixed up shutter at shop etc

Fair very cold day windy I went to the Depot carryed little wheels down I pd $1.40 cts & 50 cts for wheels I – got a sample of my wheat from the Senteral & soled it to Warwick & Barksdale for $1.40 cts 4 months – time [Warwick & Barksdale mill in Richmond] went to see Mr McGruder & Sons they promised to take the bond for pay for the guano etc bought 10 cts worth or cakes saw James T. Redd went to Dandridge, to stay the (Washington Monument in Richmond) [on November 24, a team of horses pulled the 18-ton bronze stratue but could only reach 17th & Main; then some 400-500 people pulled the statue to Capitol Square] Betty R came to day. {killed a hog halling corn out of the upper part of the meadow & shucking & halled a lode wood etc

Fair cold day a large frost I went to Chiles, & Chenrys & bought blanket 8 l cloth 50¢ for boys hhd 70 cts. wasse coat $1.50 6 blankets at 90 cts linen 2 yds at 62 cts cloth 10 cts a yd one piece went to Matthews bought 2 sides leather cost $8.86 cts 2 for Bro Saml 41 1/2 lbs at 23 cts. went to Kings had wheels carryed there he failed to do it carryed them to Robert Winstons he promised to do the work by the day James T Redd went with me I sebttle with Mr McGruder his bill $116.85 cts he he pd me $11.80 cts wheat money – there were 97 bushels in all I went to Dandridge, to stay all night. gave 25 cts for knife 12 1/2 for ball {weighed the hog it weighed 112. lbs cut it out cutting down corn in meadow halling & shucking halled a lode wood shelled corn sent to mill for Mr Taylor & self
