Fair a large frost & ground frozen cold night I sawed bens horn off it bled a good deel. went to Ma,s Bro Saml was there He & I went to Carmel Bro Thomas preached Bro Turner sent some potatoes to Ma, Bob saw some wild turkeys Jimy went for Harriet John Swanns & Tom S came to let me know they wer going to saty all night - halled 3 loads wood finished diging sweet & irish potatoes - Bob ploughed a patch for my new wheat sowing & ploughing in wheat etc

Fair mild day Tom Swann  went home this morning sent this evening for Harriet she came with Susan we went to Carmel Bro Thomas preached a good sermond Bro S - at meeting & John I Luck gave me some Fillmore tickets. [former President Fillmore ran as a third party candidate for the American or "Know-Nothing" party; Buchanan was elected to office]

Rain a tremendous big rain this evening commenced in the morning. I went to E Field beet up some guano Lanzy halled a lode manure to E Field for my Cat Mt wheat etc Mr Keans child was burried at Mt Airy to day - sent my tools to E Field wheat sowed 1 bu beeting up guano etc sowed 1 bushel ploughing in etc halled 2 loads san & one of manure

Fair cold & windy d Tate brought my leather home 2 ides & one skin black, one I went to E Field and commenced planking up the shed nailed up one got 3 planks of Ma,s I went to Carmel to prayer meeting Bro Thomas came up to Ma,s I stayed till after supper Mr Fountain lost his Daughter Eleven years old made a pen for the corn of logs pine halling up corn shucking etc

Fair mild day - I wentto E Field sowed my champion wheat sawed the Cat Mountain and Redd,s white & Zimerman sowed 2 loads fo forward wheat & ploughed it in went to Ma,s carryed Columbia Swann to Mrs Cobs on her way home Mr Hancock had 1/2 bl corn Mr Taylor a turn Mahon came to E Field where I sowed my wheat (wheat sowed 31 bushels) shelled corn sent to mill for Mr T & Mr H sowing wheat Sowed a bushel finished halling up corn and shucking etc halled a lode wood etc.

Fair a very large frost cold morning I moved some of my things out of the shop Mr S,s horse is quite sick Edmond Redd came to trade steers I went with him home to look at his we did not trade stoped at Ma, Ella sent a piece of beef by Llewelllyn Bob ploughing by Anna, E Field for tobacco. cutting down halling up & shucking corn. got over the swamp back of the kitchen

Fair a very large frost cold morning I went to look for a rogue at old Mr Ss he killed a hog for him they found him this morning I went by Mr Ss to look at his horse Terrell & I went on together as far as his house saw Mr Howard he went with me to Ma,s & to look at my chimney at E Field I bargained with Mr Hancock for his 10 acres of land for Ma, at 10 dollars I went to see Mrs Rinnols to try to get some bricks went to the prayer meeting at Carmel, saw E R at store he had mules Bob fallowing at E Field halling up corn shucking etc workg mark steer

Fair,frost cold morning.set the hands - getting rales for a hog pen I commenced makg a rale body to hall rails & wood Susan S. came hear to night. with harriet Old Dick White is dead cutting rail timber and malling halling rails commenced the hog pen fed them in it - cutting down corn

Rain a few drops a large frost this evening I finished the cart body to night put up my hogs 18 large size. Old Mr Southworth's horse died to day Bob went over to burry him - H & John went to Bro Samls this evening Old Mr Bob Wood is dead finished ploughing tobacco lot at EF. put up my hogs made a shelter & halled a lode of leaves for a bed halling up corn etc made or finished hog pen etc sent to the mill

Fair cool day I had a small beef killed Emma,s calf I put 5 shotes in hog pen to fatten & I fixed the shelter for the hogs cut ditches & put up brush I rode to Ma,s  Ann & Emily came to night rode to E Field to look at my wheat I fixed poles in cart & sent for brush killed a beef put away the greens, fixed hog shelter halled a lode brush & 2 of wood. sent for the ploughs at E Field

Thomasia & I went to Bro Saml,met with Bro Saml & betty at Ma,s Betty came to stay a while - Betty Anderson was married this morning [Bettie T Anderson 1837-1910? wed Charles James Terrell in Hanover County,Va.] & traveled the Boys went to Scotch town last night to a party. Bro S altered his horse this evening - ploughing for corn - halling up corn with 2 carts shucking to night pull off corn etc

Rainy day. Mahon came to breakfast - shucked a little corn & went home Joh S. - helping to shuck corn we filled the pen to night sent 4 bu forward wheat to mill 13 in all shucking corn, halled a lode of wood etc shelled corn sent to mill for Mr T. & carryed 4 bu wheat

Fair, mild day, I went to Ma,s to the old shop for slabs halled 2 loads in each cart. Mr. Mahon nearly finished saw a great many persons passing the rode Bro Addams halling up corn from new ground Mrs Walner Cross died shucking corn halling slabs timber & sent to mill for flour

Fair mild day I went to Ma,s  and to Golans ville to the sale Alburt Lowery bought the land adjoining me, gave 9 dollars & 5 cts an acre 230 acres James D bought Redds at $18.2 cts an acre - Joh Swann came to work on hen houses covered it. Sent 1/2 bl corn to mill for Hancock shucking corn etc halled a lode wood

Rain a few drops a mild day Mr Mahon came to work we pulled down the shop cut some new logs & commenced putting up again by walnut tree by house Joh Swann finished his house by barn & went home wiltshire went to sale Old Ws dogs killed 2 sheep for Ma sent one up hear halling shoplogs & a lode wood 2 young hogs finished shucking corn made nearly or quite 100 bls - put the cattle under the shelter to night with sheep

Thomasia went to Providence & spent the day brought up Cousin Emily - As, cloth Columbia came to night sent Llewellyn to Dukes for bricks failed to get them brought over a pr shoes etc Mr Taylor had a bushel of old corn for his hogs John Hackett very sick. cut out hogs & weighed them 2 w 112 - shelled a turn of corn & sent to mill halling the timber for shop halling leaves horse cart striping tobacco at E Field etc

John Hackett died last night stoped at store got 3 yds triming & 12 1/2 cts Bob saw 2 turkeys back of the shop I went to look for them Mahon went home (old sow has 12 pgs) she had 37 in 12 months) halling wood leaves striping tobacco E Field
