Fair mild the snow melted a good deel to day I went to Mr Buttlers for my coat. went to Bro Saml,s Molly quite poly - I hitched his horse Jen would not draw I dined at Bro S,s cutting & halling of wood for Mr. Taylor put the corn in garner [granary] carryed the corn sheller home carryed a lode of husk to Ma,s to grind

Fair cool day the snow melted a little I sent a few bushels of oats to Ma,s to chop up ground 4 or 5 flour barrells chop went to Carmel Bro Fox spoke Bro Baker's funeral sermond is to be preached - next 1st Sunday but few persons at meeting I drove the colt to store & Ma,s saw Lewis at out gate etc etc ground up some husk & oats at Ma,s halling wood etc sent corn  to mill etc

Fair day Snowed a little last night a very cold day I went to Ma,s sent my carriage pole to put to my sleygh hitched 2 horses & carryed Lucy to meeting Bro Fox preached there wer several sleyghs at meeting I dined at Ma,s to day

Fair a very cold day & night last very cold in deed I fixed a handle in axe for Henry I spent the day pretty much in the house to day put [lest?] around the doars etc Thomasia commenced her scool to day. Cutting & halling wood

Fair a very cold night last & morning I think as cold as any weather we have had this winter the cattle nearly covered with frost I went to the mill in sleygh to see the miller about grinding corn to send to Richmond went on the ice with sleygh. went to store carryed a pair shoes Thomasia bought for $1.25 cts they had a tourn place on them he nocked of 25 cts for the boys - 24 cts worth of glass paid for them etc saw Hancock he is teaching scool at Sedar-rough Anna & Lucyh at store - I rode to Ma,s this evening cutting & halling wood etc

Fair the weather a little milder I went  to E Field Faning out corn sent 10 barrells to mill at Buttlers to grind to send to Richmond am to pay 4 dollars for grinding 10 barrells Lewis came this morning we rode up to the store in sleygh Mr Taylor went to store for glass I saw Elliott Wright going to be married - went to E Field faning corn sent 10 bls to mill cuttin wood for Mr Taylor

Rain a sleet in the morning, mild day. the snow melted some quite soft, the sleet melted away before night. Lewis Redd went to Ma,s this evening. Collins sent for his sleygh to Landora I sawed out 2 slides for a sleygh this evening a very light one Lanzy has not returned from his wifes shucking corn shelling etc halled a lode wood cutting & halling wood for Mr. T.

Snow a little this morning, the snow melted a good deel to day. I went to E Field struck down some tobacco, & went to mill tomeet with Bob he carryed 10 barrells of corn meal to Depot got it from mill I went to Ma,s Ma, rode out in my sleygh Lewis was at Ma,s borrowed a stamp of Anna, sent a letter to Wm Dandridge sent John to Providence & Bartlett this evening Bob got back from Depot & brought a bag of manure from S Hill that he gave me sent to mill & Depot with meal 10 bls bulked down some tobacco EF cut a lode short wood by Hills shop cutting wood by hear etc

Cdy most of the day a few drops rain the snow melted a good deel in places mild hung up the meet to day Mr Taylor brought up a coffee-mill for 20 cts.I worked on sleygh etc Harriet & Susan S & John went to John Swanns to carry $2.00 to Columbia S. for makg clothes etc John had a fall off colt hung up meet cutting & halling wood etc

Snowed a few flakes this morning a very windy day like March Ma,s ewe had a lamb last night at my barn I worked on sleygh & nailed up big table in yard Baly came for Ma,s sheep Wm ran off last night Harriet went home with Susan S. striping tobacco at E.F.

Fair a mild day I put the irons on sleygh etc the snow melted more to day than it has any day before this snow Thomasia & I went to Bro Saml,s & spent the day saw Miss Wright Eugene came over with John & Jimy they came over Llewellyn came from Providence brought a chicken from Bro Saml,s booted [Booted Bantam] cutting & hall wood

Fair cold morning I rode to plant bed in the new sleygh sowed a tobacco bed by ivy hill in my pines. I made the seet to sleygh etc etc burnted a plant bed by ivy hill in corner of my pines sowed tobacco seed etc

Fair mild, made a bench for scool room worked on sleygh for Mr Hardyman came for an orger [auger] borrowed it for Mr Southworth I went to plant bed by Hill shop sowed it in tobacco seed.came by store bought a bridle 2 bottle spirits turpintine & 1/2 lb bleu stone [like soapstone] paid 74 crts for them stoped at Mr Southworths Thomasia & H was there - I gave Mr Southworth $1.00 to buy some garden seeds Mrs Dickinson at Mr Southworths burnt a plant bed and sowed tobacco seed etc

Fair mild evening cold morning I worked on the sleygh a little Thomasia & I went to Mrs Sally Terrells & spent the evening Miss Mary Terrell & Elvira wer there came home. Mrs Johnson at Mrs Terrells. We shot at a Halk 4 times got a letter from Hancock Ewe has a lamb. shelled corn sent to mill  halled a load wood burnt & sowed a plant bed by Hill shop

Fair a cold morning a fair evening the snow melted a good deel in places I went to the store this morning no one at store went to new ground sowed a plant bed in tobacco went to Ma,s took a lock & fixed it for Ma, carryed it down & put it on dore closet went to store bought 16 cts worth cambrick etc pd for them met with Llewellyn, Lucy, Sister Sarah & Miss BellCollins halling his logs to mill for store house. burnt & sowed a tobacco bed halling wood etc.

Fair a mild windy day the snow melted more to day that it has melted for a long time I carryed brace & bits to Ma,s to put on lock, went to the mill saw Bro Saml,s wagon in river, in ice got out after a long time went to Mr Buttlers carryed up rafters got a pr pants. went to Bro Saml,s met Bro S by the Hall carryed Dr Lins rams-horn over, a Miss Spicer at turnout was married a few nights ago - Bro S pd me 50 cts for bridle cutting & halling wood

Fair mild most of the day I made a frame for a flying machine [McCormick Reaper] to day I think it will answer a good purpose. Thomasia & I went to Mrs Rennols, to meet with Ella saw Wm Noel there. Martin killed his dog he was mad a few days ago. Anna,s hogs in my wheat patch grubing next to Mr Southworths near meadow halling rails Lanzy malling etc

Cdy day it snowed a little last night I went to E Field & to Anna,s to see her about her Hogs she sayed she wood not keep them out that I might do it saw Mr Willshire a[t] Ma,s I put a lock on barn house door saw Mrs Swann Mr W & I went to L Terrells to see his horses he has a poney that is a very fine horse saw Bro Davist & others there Collins bought a horse for $150.00 Ewe has w2 lambs spotted Finished striping tobacco Edge Hill shucking corn halled a load of wood etc.

Cdy most of the day I went to Gatewood's to look at my hog - last fall went to Terrells saw T. Hackett & the Dr looking at horses went to store I rode the Poney to day offered to trade with Terrell. I went to Mr Southworth to see about my hog at C Burg went to E Field took down some tobacco commenced fallowing for corn near meadow near G Southworths fence grubing - malling rails halling
{the winter is over the snow is some 8 inches deep in shaded places the coldest winter that I ever new it killed the trees etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc}
