Fair a very large frost cold morning I worked on shop etc moved in big house to day - I went to store borrowed Hulettw gig & went to James Lucks to see his bricks they are qite soft. He was from home saw Mr Doggett got 3 lbs of chees of Collins gave 16 cts halling leaves ploughing striping tobacco etc at E Field rakg leaves etc

Fair a cold day Mr Mahon came to work workg on shop put up rafters etc commenced makg a box for tobacco out of slabs Mr Tom Howard came to go to work at Ma,s - was not ready went back let Mahon have 5 lbs of new bacon Tate came for a hide Dick Wiltchers fel off horse & the wagon ran over him shelled corn & sent to the mill for Mr Taylor & self striping tobacco E Field sent to store for 4 lbs nails

I gave 57 cts for stove pipes stoped at Ma, lent Lucy my mule borrowed her horse John Llewellyn got a pair shoes from fletchers killed a shote ploughing cutting down stalks etc ditching on meadow halling wood sent a lode to Mr Taylors & halled a lode of straw

Bob killed Mr Taylor's hogs this morning worked on the rode to day Lanzy halling wood fixing to kill hogs etc etc etc

Mr Mahon came gave him an order for 1 bushel corn. - I went to Mr Hancocks bought things to the amount of $7.78 cts and bought a cow for $15. - had a trade dogs with him gave Dido for a puppy sent for him to night brought the cow home. bought goods at store to the amount of $1.22 cts saw L Terrell Mr Holliday came to Ma,s this morning commenced fixing a plant bed near the out gate near L Terrells R Anderson  moving to Hancocks sedar fork. Killed 21 hogs halling wood workg on plant beds sent for cow & goods

Rain till evening cut out my hogs weighed them 21 weighed 2464 1/2 lbs Mr Taylor had 2 they weighed 241 lbs & a qr of beef it weighed 140 lbs at 6 1/2 cts a lb. Thomasia Llewellyn Harriet & I went to Bro Saml's to Lucy R Redds weding she was married to Mr Holliday [niece Lucy Fitzhugh redd, 1839-1916, married to William Jaquelin Holliday, 1829-1918] we came over home - just before day - Cousin Patrick Fitzhugh & wife & 2 daughters came up cut out hogs 21 they weighed 2464 1/2 lbs. shelled corn & sent to the mill

Fair a very cold day. I went hunting killed a sparrow puppy ate it up or ran off with it. I put hinges & lock on Llewellyns hen house children stoped going to scool to day. I patched up the cows shelter gave puppy a lashing - Lanzy broke the bed coming from Ma,s shelled corn for self & Mr Taylor sent to mill halling wood for Mr Taylor brought up my bed from Ma,s Lanzy broke it at gate - sent 2 bushels wheat to mill

Snowing morning very cold day indeed & windy I went to Ma,s to shoot her bull shot him twice, below Dabs house on swamp I went to ice pond the ice is quite thick Columbia came to day I halled some brush to cow shelter & stoped the hole between stack & shelter Baly came for me this morning, saw Charles Harris pass by cutting short wood - oak halled 2 lodes and put it in end room etc halled a lode to Mr Taylor
