Rain this evening a cold morning the ground frozen Mrs S got a jug of molasses set a turkey finished sowing oats on river field sowed 50 bu fanede out some oats sowed 6 bushels on high hill makg 50 in that field laid the worm of a fence from G.S. to my barn halling rails fencing etc shelled a turn corn |

Fair after the morning mild day looks like spring time Linzy Terrell came this evening to fix a gil net in the river we cut a part of it & put it in the River below ivy hill - Mama had a bushel potatoes at $1.00 a bu fencing halling rails finished the fence as far as the rails would go ploughing by the shop in new ground for oats malling rails etc. |

Fair cool I went to Carmel Bro Anderson red a chapter etc I borrowed $10 of Bro Saml & paid it to the church dont owe them nothing for last year Mr Noel at meeting E Burrys soled the hall for 125 dollars to J W T mary & Taylor & Ann at Ma,s Sowed 8 bushels oats in new ground by shop rakg them in ploughing etc finished raming gate post & put up a pr. bars by stable fencing etc halling wood for Mr T & storks etc |

Fair a largte frost a mild day I finished sowing oats in the new ground sowed 7 bushels Ann E Talley & John L Talley came up a little while to day Edmond Redd came & stayed till evening I patched up martin box & put on new pole in of sedar sowed 7 bushels oats 65 in all ploughing the corn land mallingrails halled a load of storks etc grubing on the swamp below the spring |

Fair a warm day Mr Mahon came to work on tobacco hogs head I cut 6 hogs & marked them turned out 2 sows & B-red hog Anna old horse died to day shelled corn for Mr Taylor sent to mill brought a load plank ploughing fencing back of the stack etc laid off water mellon patch & diging the holes etc sent for poles to mill etc. |

Fair cool morning Mr Mahon & I went to ivy hill to get some hoop poles finished one hogshead got pieces for a gate sedar. Bro Saml came to spay my hogs 10 marked them etc I put him a cross the river I killed a snake to day halling manure to water mellon patch finished the hills 96 in all Bob rakg corn land Jessey ploughing etc |

Fair a large frost mild day made a head for Hogshead to prize on Mr Mahon & I went to End FIeld & made a tobacco post & put it by the shed it is of locust Edmond dug the post hole commenced planting corn the Burruss corn next to George Southwests rakg halling the prize down [arrangement of levers or screw used to pack tobacco] & halling out manure etc |

Lewis caught a owl to day Bro S went to the Depot for bags to put wheat in etc we saw Linnaeus & Tom at the hall planting corn and putting up fence that the win blew down halled 2 logs to mill etc |

Fair a large frost cool morning mild evening I carryed the hogshead to End Field & fixed the prize etc etc fined [fired?] the field of Ma,s to night Cousin Fanny Thompkins at Ma,s to day sent some iron to Wm Robinson, shelled a turn of corn [a turn of corn was a partly filled sack that could be carried easily] & sent it to mill etc planted corn in No. 3 field rakg halling fodder etc put up the fence by old ice pond etc that blew down |

Snowy day it commenced last night snowed in Richmond all day the snow was about 3 to 6 in deep in Caroline Cty melted very fast in the morning I went to Chesterfield in barouch & went to Richmond pd $1.25 cts fair - I bought a umbrella gave $1.75 cts for it. went to Mrs Dandridge's looked at tobacco etc |

Fair cool dayh I soled my tobacco for $8.50 cts a hundred it weighed 1300 & upwards saw Mr Harris & E Swann in town E Swann came up to Chesterfield I pd $1.25 cts fair etc the Snow melted a good deel to day I got a curry comb for Ma, 12 1/2₵ had my musickal box spring put in for $1.00 - striping tobacco etc at E Field |

Foggy morning it Rained a little to night thundered & lightened etc I went to the mill to have my tobacco staves sawed etc went to see Mr Mahon to get him to make the hogs-head,s, went to Bro Samls Miss Betty Duke there Bro Saml came from Taylorsville I pd him $2. & 47 cts for Miss Mary Grugs owe him 53 cts Lewis is sick they got letters from John & Betty & Anna G. finished striping tobacc at E Field commenced ploughing this evening sent to mill for tobacco staves burning brush |

Fair mild day I worked on tobacco staves went to Collins store pd him $30.00 part of his account. came by Ma,s Columbia at Ma,s sent a bl of hams to Depot brought up some things coffee for Mr Taylor 20 lbs at 15 cts I spoke to Mr Handcock about sending 2 scollars to him shelled corn sent to Depot fallowing by ice house & shop throughing up manure etc |

Fair cold a cool day the Dr came to see Thomasia T etc put a blister on her side she is very poly I went down to E Field & took up my potatoes - about 30 bushels let Ma, have 2 bushels & Canfield 5 pecks at one dollar a bushel, put the potatoes in sellar I set up one dollar a bushel, put the potatoes in sellar I set up a hogs head this evening put on 3 hoops set out some apple trees by water-mellon patch ploughing Bob went to plough Mr Taylors patch ground shelled corn & sent to mill for T & self halled a load of manure in garden etc - took up a load of potatoes |

Fair warm day I planted a bushel of sweet potatoes by the shop the Dr came to see Thomasia came in buggy I trimed up the trees in yard & the rose bushes etc I handled 2 hoes to day went to E Field & filled the Hhd with tobacco planted 1 bushel sweet potatoes hilled up the patch prizeing tobacco halling out manure corn field etc ploughing rakg cornfield plough it the potatoe patch etc |
