Rain a shower I went to Carmel Bro Coleman preached communed Bro Saml at meeting Kitty came to get me to plough her new ground tomorrow I paid Mr B man 50cts for Daw

Fair cool day I wed my little apple trees & trimed them up John came to work in shop put tire on Ma,s ox cart etc I paid him 57 cts for his work this evening I rode to Ma, salted my cattle in her pasture sent 3 H P & ploughed Mr Southworth's new ground - Miss Mary Hill & Betty Ann came up this evening & stayed a while sent for Dr L he came to see Thomasia she has a Daughter [frances "Fanny" Cornelia Redd, 1855-1913] set out cabbage plants & potatoes ree planting corn etc ploughed tobacco land for Mr S.

Fair most of the day Dr A came by to see Thomasia I sent to Providence I went to Bro Saml's for Sister Cornelia to stay with Thomasia John got back from meeting & Sister Sarah weeding corn on the river finished thart field weeding irish potatoes ploughing up some wheat by barn for tobacco

Rain a little shower cool day very cool morning Ella came up & stayed till the evening went by the store Sister Cornelia - went to look at my calvs I rode to Ma,s to try to get my colt in her pasture went to to look at the tobacco by Anna,s shelled corn halling manure & putting in drills for tobacco ploughed & raked etc the patch wed the cotton potatoes etc ploughing the corn by the shop -

Rain a good one it lightened & thunbdered very windy day etc Ma, & Sister Sarah came up this evening going to spend the night - I made a halter haltered rose calf grazed her etc finished ploughing tobacco lot by barn - n manured it with stable manure & 130 lbs guano made hills ploughing the new ground & weeding corn

Fair mild day set out tobacco by barn & ree planted by barn below I rode to plant bed & Ma,s Sister Cornelia went down to mill on her way home rode behind me to mill stoped at Ma, saw Molly & Betty & Ema Gouldin at Ma,s Bob workg on his house running chimney back I salted my cattle in Ma,s calf girls at Mama,s finished ree planting tobacco & setting out by barn E Hill fixining chimney etc

Fire mild weather - Thomassia is more complaining I put my bee hive on a table Mrs Southworth came over Sister Sarah and Molly came up this evening Molly came to stay - the 2 Southworth came & spent the day Aggy came to night to stay with Thomasia Bob & July Ann workg on his house to day I went to Ma, weeding corn by the shop Bob workg on house

Fair cool day I rode to new ground by Hs shops tobacco bed sent to Depot to carry a note to Sturn & Woolfolk I saw Flaming at Ma,s I rode in Coleman's saw a cow with a large bag sent to Halls s for cloth. set out tobacco ree planted thining corn sent to Halls & Depot.

A few drops rain cool day had a fire Molly went to Ma,s this evening I walked with her, went to E Field to look at potatoe patch saw Anna H & Jimy went to Ma,s I made a coop to put some chickens in to go to Richmond. Shelled a little corn Bob ploughed potatoe patch by loar barn weeding corn in the new ground etc sent to Providence etc cutting irish potatoes

Rain a few drops very cool had fire all day i went to Ma,s to E Field planted potatoes manured them with guano Molly at Ma,s went to Anna Ellen & Anna came up this evening stoped at Ma, I rode in Ma, pasture sent to Mr Gouldin for 1 bushel of irish potatoes planted potatoes sent to Depot carryed down 10 lambs & box chickins got there two late shelled corn sent to the mill weeding corn throwing dirt to the corn in the River field no 1.

Fair a very cold morning cold enough for frost may have had it I carryed ma,s some beets went to new ground found Tates turkeys in my wheat - chunked at them etc I saw tate gave him notice to keep them out etc came back to Ma,s & went to new ground again I sent to Winstons shop for P points had not them stoped at Terrells store Ma,s Sister Sarah & Molly there weeding corn in the new ground throwing the dirt from it & back again ploughing in river field throwing the dirt 2 furrows.

Fair mile day I went to my wheat patch by Tates saw his turkeys in my wheat went to see him he says I killed his gobler stoped at Ma,s salted my cattle at Ma,s - I fixed up a halter etc grazed the cows etc a Irish man came to night going to stay all night Bro Saml came for Molly weeding corn new ground ploughing by rock spring throughing out the middles etc thining corn planted peas etc weeding in garden

Rain fine a pretty shower in the night last. Charles carryed Clarisse to Depot in Ma,s carriage. He came up to hire hands to cut wheat below Richmond, he & L went to Mr Watkins & white & Mrs Andersons Halls etc I walked to Ma,s & E Field weeding corn on rode near Canfields I set out one or two rows of Irish potatoe plants & tomatoe plants planted pop corn Bro T Chanler came by this evening Kitty S brought up Zink from Richmond she was hear to night shelled corn sent to mill ree planted tobacco etc weeding corn at E Field ploughed potatoe patch hog pen near the swamp

Rain fine it rained a good deel last night I set out some pepper plants fixed the Zink in Refrigerator soldered the corners etc I rode to Ma, went to new ground for tobacco plants etc Dr A was at Anna,s this evening went in Ma, pasture moved the sheep pen thining & setting corn set out tobacco weeding by Anna.

Rain light showers it rained a good one at Ma,s last night thundered & lightened a good deel I went to Ma,s carryed her some beets I went to meeting Bro Allen & Bagby spoke Ann & Emily came over with Mr & Mrs B had some wheat ploughed for corn to sow put 1/2 bu in soak a great many church bugs in my wheat etc reeplanted tobacco ploughed some wheat land to sow corn thining corn by Canfields

Harriet & Jimy went to Mr Cobbs for apples I went to new ground & Ma,s Edmond passed by out gate looking for Dick & wife I cleaned out Dabs spring etc the girls at Mr G's ploughing on the river thining corn weeding by Canfields

Fair reeplanted tobacco by barn cut my wheat by Hills shop I went to N Lucks to get him to look at my wheat & say what the damage es wer & by S Cobb for the saw met with B Trevillion they looked at the wheat etc I brought some apple twigs Dr A came by new ground cutting wheat borrowed Ma,s cart & halled up the wheat 2 loads thining corn by Canfields etc

Fair warm day I sent 3 single ploughs to new ground by Hills shop & ploughed the wheat patch to see if it will make wheat I went to Ma, & new ground went to Providence this evening to look at a reeper at work [McCormick began building his reapers in 1845] cuts finely saw B Trevillion there etc Sister Emily was at Ma,s to day ploughing in wheat weeding corn thining etc

Fair very warm day I shocked my wheat in barn & yard etc ploughing water mellon patch etc I went to Bro Samls for shoes John McL A was there Edmond put a [L me?] to trade horses for mules I stoped at Ma,s brought over a pair shoes for Thomasia & Llewellyn left a litter at Br S,s for Uncle Wm D Taylor [William Day taylor, 17810-1858] ploughing on river & by Canfields weeding corn etc etc

Fair warm warm day it rain a little last night I wed a part of watermellon patch I budded 5 peach trees with apricotts from Anna,s & 5 or 6 apple trees with May apple from Bro Saml.I went to End Field went for some rasberries in Ma,s etc Sent to Winstons shop for a ploughpoint S. P. Lanzy's wife had 2 children yesterday. ploughing by gap near Mt Airy weeding corn ploughing corn on the river thining etc shelled corn for Mr T & self sent to mill cut a little wheat etc.

Rain a little this evening very warm day thundered & lightened went by Ma,  & carryed her to meeting in her buggy saw Lucy R she came yesterday from Fredericksburg Bro Coleman preached I put my name down for 50 cts to fix a wall Bro Saml & Sam wer at meeting Hudson came by with his account for work done. Warler Coleman died to day of drunkeness ploughing & weeding corn by Mt Airy [gap?] ploughing on the river thining etc
