fair day the wind in the morning was at north it worked round to the South & S.E. after breakfast Mr Taylor started to work for me to day by the year at Eighty dollars. Edmond Redd came and dined I went with him to Ma,s I hired Joh & he wants Wm & Mr Gouldin Peter saw Mr G at mill Ct Buttler says I can get as many slabs as I want. Miss Moriah Thompkins at Ma,s Sam went to the University to day Molly & Betty went to Mr Goul [Sam at UVa 1854-5, 1962-40] Peter cut out a pr shoes for Llewellyn & brought mine Lucy R went to sool Fredericks Burg cutting & halling wood grubing burning brush back of shop ground an axe for Mr Taylor he is cutting etc

I went to Bro Saml's for the children Bro Saml going to Richmond met Lewis at river Molly & Betty at Mr Gouldins I saw dr Lin I hird Tom has sold his land for 12 or 14.00 dollars fenced in turnip patch & put lam in shed etc I made troft for beef to drink Hugh White came for tax. moved fence around turnip patch cutting rail timber at new ground by shop halling wood for Mr Taylor grubing

Cdy mild day east wind halling logs to mill I went to new ground & cut off 6 or 7 logs carryed 4 to mill halling slabs to out gate corner of main field getting rails slab timber Tate is to get me some slabs for 1/- a hundred and I saw the timber Bob brought up a lode planks I saw Miss Moriah T. at Ma,s saw E Cobb he went to Bro Samls for girl. gave Joh 6 cts for brum [broom] shelled a turn corn for self & one for Mr Taylor sent 4 logs to mill cutting & malling rails by Cobbs or old shop grubing etc

Rainy most of the day it rained nearly all night last, commenced prizeing tobacco lugs etc, commenced slabing the back cow shelter etc ground my Hatchet prizeing tobacco moved the straw at lower barn out shet to make stalls under for horses halling rails alond [along] the lane from out gate down towards Canfields malling etc grubing etc

Fair west win I started to hewing slabs and cut & mashed my hand very bad sent for the Dr he came up & put sticking plaster on sore etc I saw Mr Thompson pass by Llewellyn went with Miss Hency to King Williams Mr Gouldin came by I put a layer of tobacco in Hogs-head the hands are triming around the fence from out gate to mill sent 5 days feed of corn for horses to be ground inchop for same I pulled tooth for Joh halling rails & grubing etc

Fair smoky mild day I sent 5 bags of Hills guano 1/2 turn to sow onwheat, on the rode by old shop. sowed some guano on plant bed & tobacco seed back of my new ground - Sister Sarah & Molly Lue walked up hear this evening Thomasia gave Mr Taylor a pass or note for Old Jenny to gogree yesterday the note was written Edmond Terrell is very low sowed 5 bags artificial guano on wheat by old shop sowed pland bed halling weed grubing etc

Fair a cool most of the day, shelled corn to day killed 9 turkeys goblers Bob made a box to put fowls in Molly & Betty went to Ma,s to night Llewellyn went down with them Tom S went away this morning hird E.T. died yesterday shelled corn put up the fences that blew down a night or two ago halling rails, malling, grubing etc sent some corn to mill for chop & wheat etc

Fair snowed a little last night cool day Dr Lin came by on his way to Mr Harrises old Mr Southworth got back from Town sent a box turkeys to Depot sent for bags failed to get them the girls went from Ma,s to day to Terrells store, Llewelly went to Providence to try to get in to go to scool to Saml Swann at Carmel sent to Terrells for the ballance of molaces 1 gal. sent to mill brought the cotton home faned out my rye bu sent to Depot for bags & to carry fowls malling etc

Fair a very cold morning & night last I weighted the 3 pigs - for Mr Taylor they weighed 95 - 84 - 57 - 236 lbs in all John went home this morning Llewellyn went to Bro Saml,s for books & I rode to Ma,s saw Ann Talley the girls ar there Molly quite sick Ann  came from the Dr.s last night sent the hogs to Mr Taylor & 1/2 bu salt Old Mr Southworth got some slabs for me to lay at 1/ a 100 shelled a turn corn sent  3 hots to Mr t & 1/2 bu salt halling wood etc cleaned off a plant bed the other sie shop Bob went to cut out Mr Ts hogs, grubing etc
