Fair mild morning Harriet went to Carmel in Ma,s carriage I went on hore back Bro S & Betty Mr G & family at meeting communed to day - Dr A went to see Mr Taylor this evening.

Fair a quite cool day cold morning finished sowing oats by house sowed 5 1/2 bushels sowed by the kitchen & House cymblain patch Mr Hudson & Marchal came to dinner worked 1/2 of the day putting studs in for weather boarding - stoped at Ma,s Llewellyn went to Mr Gouldins - oats 46 bu Finished sowing oats for this season. sowed 5 1/2 bu ploughed Irish potatoe patch halled some planks down to E Field halling wood for Mr T. halled a load straw cleanng on ditch - banks etc

Fair cool morning I planted Irish potatoes 1 1/4 bu I lent Ma, yoke steer to go to Depot for Giant mill the leaves wer left in Richmond. Saw Mr Gouldin he went to Ma,s Sam came up with Llewellyn to night Mr Hudson & Marshal commenced shinglin the house this evening Mr Taylor is sick to day I went to Terrells got 10 bu 6₵ nails at 6 1/4 cts a lb. ploughed 2 squares in the garden planted potatoes ploughing on the meadow below rock spring halled 8 loads manure to potatoe patch

Fair a cold morning the ground frozen mild eening sent to Terrells store for 10 lbs nails - at 6 1/4 cts workg on house for Mr Taylor shinglin it I went to Bro Samls after Trainham saw Louisa Terrell Molly has headache very bad saw Mr Buttler says he is planting corn Mr Taylor sick to day ploughing on meadow & high hill halling up etc grubing on swamp back of barn E field shelled a turn corn

Rain this evening a mild day I went to Huletts to meet with Bro Saml We went to Ct Thompsons I soled him Betsy Grey for 100 dollars to be paid by the 1st of May Bro Saml bought some leather at Tan yard etc I saw a bird by Huletts with a very long bill Mr Hudson & M went home to night shingling etc Anna satarted to Bro Samls Martins came to day Bob & Joh cutting rails for fence on River hallingpost planks etc grubing on Swamp by old Dobs house

Fair a coolday the ground frozen in the morning I went to Ma,s  & to the barn & new ground tobacco plants have come up Bro Sea & Chandler came on business - about Ma,s pensionland [from Col Samuel Redd, 1729-1783] Thad came up this mornend he killed a squirl in pines shot one onriver Mr Wiltcher came this evening left a paper etc Joh carryed a plough to have a wheel to plough mended ploughing 2 double ploughs on the river finished grubing at E Field throughing up manure halling etc halling manure in corn field

Fair a cool  day I went to stel trap it was down caught an otter expect got out Thad went to Ma,s Linzy Terrell came by looking for potatoes. Thomasia & children & I went to Ma,s & dined Mr & Mrs G Louisa & Emma, and Molly & Betty Redd wer there went home this evening workg Ben Steer to day - Thad & I walked nearly to Mt Airy gate with girls ploughing on river & the meadow throughing up manure halling out etc put manure in hot bed - halled a load straw etc

Cdy this evening it rained a drop or two - the warmest weather we have had for some time sent Llew to Providence he went t Ma,s to stay with Tad to night - shelling some seed corn finished ploughing on river rakg etc on the river field for corn scattering manure

Rainy day slight rain spent the day at home Llewellyn at Ma,s. Thad talks of leaving for Richmond to night

Fair very warm d part of the day I went to Ma,s to see Dr Gouldin had a trade knives with him they went down home I went to Terrells store met with Ma, & Sister Sarah Ella & Miss Chiles at store saw the Dr bought a curry comb & lock pd 25 cts for them went to scool house for keys  I rode to low barn salted cattle Mr Hudson & M workg 1/2 day finished shinglin & putting in sleepers etc Sandy Workins came rakg corn land halling out manure picking roots out of new ground

Cdy day commenced planting corn in loar part of river field planted 1 bu & peck corn I went to Ma,s went to Mr Buttlers pd Ct Buttler $1.75cts for Ma, went to Bro Samls he was from home I made 5 fishing lines I dined there came by Dr Lins left a bundle there for Mr A Anderson John came over with me went by Mr Gouldins carryed some beet seed spoke for some floring planks the whipporwills came to day Mr M & Hput up the body to July Anns house Mr Trainham came this evening sent steers & bull to E Field to graze planting corn corn runing coalter subsoil - commenced on fence etc on river field

Fair a very warm day I went to Ma,s Y to E Field Mr Trainham raning chimney to Mr Taylors house Mr H & M got slab timber etc halling rocks to chimney I hurt my hip lifting a rock set blew turkey [Blue Slate turkey] Frank ditching to day Lanzy & Joh & Jessey helping Mr Trainham planting corn

Fair very warm day I went down to E Field one of my steers at Ma,s sick I killed 2 snakes this evening Mr Trainham went home this evening lacked rocks saw a great smoke below L Cobbs Mr Hudson & Marshal went home to night myh hip seams to be better I gave the steer a salt herrin Frank ditching Mrs Vinkar Cobbs & 2 children are dead planting corn finished the high hill etc rakg in bottom on river sent to mill etc

Fair a very windy day warm in morning cool evening a great many fires about the Dr came to see Thomasia my buck steer died last night had him skined Trainham came over & went back home I cut 3 fishing poles & went fishing caught several small fish I went to see Trainham stoped at Bro Saml's the girls complaining Bro S gave me $100. for Ct Thompson saw my old rifle John had it cut off etc George Allen had his house burnt up etc skined a steer planting corn on the river flat rakg etc

Fair a windy day cool I went to E Field & to Ivy hill to get some rocks for chimney went to salt the cattle by Canfields saw his cow & calf burning the pasture at Ma,s Saw L Terrell Luck Smith & Luck helping to put out the fire I patched up the garden etc Mr Trainham left this evening Frank finished the ditch on river flat. planting corn halling rocks Joh helping about chimney

Fair mild weather I fixed a lach on middle gate Marshal helped I altered 7 hogs & put old sow on swamp in pen planting corn in the new ground etc Marshal & Hatwork at T. S. Lucks. I went to Mr Buttlers to carry a coat to make for Llewellyn Clop Anderson was at Mr B,s went to Bro Samls he went to coart met with Sister Emily & Betty at mill. stoped at Ma,s planting corn in new  ground made hog pen etc

Fair warm day I went to Terrells S. bought some things & paid off my bill $8.89 cts & to Terrell & Smith $16.31cts started to Mrs Cobbs met her went to Gatewoods paid off my bill $5.40 cts and I came by Mr Harrises & paid him off my note $21.05cts. I caught several fine fish this evening 2 pike finished planting corn in new ground & ploughing on the flat on river halling manure & makg water-mellon hills ploughed Mr Taylors potatoe patch etc

Redd & Clarence came brought over an owl we went hunting killed 2 crows - went fishing caught some fish etc I fixed planks in seller etc finished planting corn up home ploughing cotton patch halling out manure etc

Rain a shower this evening smokey day I went to Ma,s & to E Field commenced ploughing for corn Ma, gave me Rob B Semple,  history of the Baptist [1810's Robert Baylor Semple, History of the Rise and Progress of the Baptists in Virginia.] I went down to Ma,s this evening & fixed a lock on doar saw Miss C Rollins at Ma, Llewellyn came from Bro Saml,s saw a wild turkey found a halks nest etc I do not recollect to have seen such a month as April commenced ploughing commenced ploughing at End Field started 2 ploughs Wats 3H burning brush & straw manured tobacco bed by Hs shop & watere3d it halled slab timber & planks for mill 300 feet of Mr G. floring planks 1 1/2 cts
