Fair, frost, cool morning we went to Oxford to the baptizing [Oxford Mt Zion Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, VA.] Bro Coleman baptized 10 whites & 16 colored persons the meeting broke after one sermon & Cousin E Taylor at meeting Bro Saml,s family at meeting. Clarence & Eugene staid hear last night. Text is a man gain the world & looses his sole etc

Fair cdy tonight thundering warm I went to Chester field Depot to carry a letter for Wm Dandridge I gave it to John Dickinson to carry to Richmond for the salt etc saw Scott the Dr. at Depot cutting down corn halling up shucking etc etc

Rain a little this morning I prized a little tobacco sent to Chesterfield to see if things came sent to Bro R Lucks for a pair ox wheels sent Joh to L Terrells to look for Llewellyn he went to scool yesterday he went to Walker Terrells Lanzy came with the wheals between 9 & 10 ock Shucking corn halling etc prizeing tobacco sent for ox wheels, sent to E Field

Rain a little this morning & last night it rained I fixed prize post went with Robert came for me to kill some dogs after Ma,s sheep saw 5 in the river at once Robert shot one we went to S Cobbs & E Terrells G Englands & P Quarles came by Providence we went to L Terrells store bought scissors 25 cts paper pens 6/d halling up corn shucking cutting rails timber cutting down corn in new ground etc

Fair a large frost cool day I went to lower barn carryed my hogs around the road put them in pasture I went to Mr Dukes he paid me 20 dollars for rye 25 bushels he had Bro Allen Haly & Linnaus with him & White Warner I came by Southworths saw the Talleys & Gouldins & Molly & John at the mill ploughing by barn for wheat halling up corn shucking corn

Fair mild day. I went to look for the turkeys this morning killed a squirl  & halk I went to Chesterfield Depot went to Sturns paid off my bill $2.48 cts for oil Bale cotten postage soap magnesia etc saw Billy Quarles at store stoped at Ma,s Sister Emily at Ma,s & Molly has head-ache - I went by John Hackets - paid him the money I owed him 50 cts. Robinson worked in shoplast night ploughing halling up corn wood & shucking etc

Fair warm a little frost this morning Ann Amily Molly & Betty Gouldin came up this morning Joh Thomas & I went bird hunting we killed 4 or 6 birds & Thomasia & I went with the girls to Ma,s. I carryed Molly & Betty to mill in Anna,s barouch they went home I changed a ten dollar note for Ann brought up Sam & Ross this evening ploughing by Rock Spring halling up corn shucking put up fence by Southworths to keep his hogs out sent corn to mill shelled etc

Rob Smith workg on store house at Terrells sent Bob to Landorah with swingle trees to iron ploughing halling up corn shucking etc

Fair warm day Edmond came by to day said he was garnisheed by Miss Chiles started 2 ploughs to day I went this evening to Bro F Cobbs for a barrell of sider for vinegar paid him $1.50 cts Lanzy went to Linch Cobbs to to carry things to his wife sent to Bro Addams, for a gallonof vinegar paid him forit & the other 45 cts sent to Depot the things did not come Columbia Swann came to night, Thomassia went to Mr Harrises pd her for lard 65 cts. ploughing 2 ploughs halling up corn etc shucking sent to Depot

Cdy morning fair evening I went to Mt Airy to the sale there wer but few persons the sale did not go on I went to Mr Butlers to see about Bartlett pd Mr B 50 cts for Miss Elize ChilesI went to Bro Samls got one of the boys to go for Bartlett sent Bob to Mr Gouldins for iron etc Toms mule was at Ma,s one he lost. ploughing commence dnew ground sent Bob for iron at Mr Gouldins & bundle halling up corn shucking etc

Rain a very small shower warm day Fair most of of the day Bartlett came to work put on the tires on my new cart wheels cut & put on the tires on the barouch wheels behind & the tin on one wheel of Ma,s carriage brok one of the felloes Sister Sarah came up in the carriage - Wm Robinson came this morning & mended the rod on rake etc drew out the teeth etc Bob workg in shop with Bartlett finished ploughing new ground faning wheat shucking corn etc halled a lode wood put on tire etc

Fair very cool & windy day we spent a day at Bro Saml,s came over to night Bro Saml gave me some hops for  Barouch [likely twilled fabric made from wool waste, used for carriage robes] I gave Bartlet a not or statement of his work

Fair a large frost cold day I fixed the new ox cart wheels & set it to work, sent George Southworths wheal home tonight, Llewellyn brought Merryman home to night borrowed a 1/2 bu salt of Mr W Southworths - faned out some wheat etc sowed 4 bushels rakg it in ball head wheat I wish to get salt plaster & lime to sow on my crop of wheat Wm came for walnuts 4 bu wheat sowed B.H. faned out some wheat & sowed 4 bushels & raked it in 2 rakes halled a lode wood 2 loads corn etc cutting down shucking etc brakg clods in wheat patch by barn etc

Fair a large white frost cold morning saw ice sowed 4 1/2 bu wheat at new ground next to Ma,s Mrs C Swann came today this morning Mr Southworths hogs got in my cornfield on meadow Mr Woodson Wright came by for taxes 4 1/21 bu wheat sowed sowing wheat new ground by Ma,s sowed (4 1/2 bu) hallingout manure halled two loads corn shucking opening water furrows diging around stumps at Ma,s ground

Fair a frost cool day I went to new ground and sowed 4 bushels of white forward wheat rakg it in I went to Terrells store bought 12 window glass 48 cts & pr shoes $1.37 cts saw the Dr [?] the new ground sent 3 bu sheat to the Dr. 4 bu wheat sowed forward diging irish potatoes faned out some wheat sowed 4 bushels w forward wheat sent to mill sent 3 bu to the Dr ball head burning brush at new ground etc etc

Fair afrost I went to new ground by old shop met with Lewis Hill spoke to him for a half tone of his manure 15 dollars went to Anna, to see him he promised to send me some winter oats I went to Terrells store saw S Swan at store got 13 cts worth of ribon Joh Swann & Llewellyn went to Bro Samls Joh went home finished rakg the new ground & choping etc choped the new ground over by gate near Ma,s halled some wood etc

Fair & all most clear a cool day I went to Mr Buttlers this morning to cary a likeness of Thomasia,s for Harriet Ann went to Bro Samls to breakfast Edmond went to look for the turkeys I came over home & got the barouch & carryed Sister Sarah to Chester field she went to Richmond I pd Sturn $1.00 for American Farmer & 5 cts for silk saw Saml Swann John Anderson carryed his fowls down - saw the Dr at Depot 1/2 bu wheat sowed (20 bu) finished diging potatoes irish ploughed one potatoe patch & sowed it in - wheat 1/2 bushel or over halled a lode corn shucked it etc sent corn to mill for meal & chop

Fair a frost mild day I patched up & put a hind board to ox cart body, Winston & Cobb came by looking for cattle etc Llewellyn went by Wm Grimes to see about calf that he has 1 1/2 bu wheat sowed 21 1/2 - sowed 1 1/2 bushels of wheat rakd it in pulling up the corn halling up etc shucking etc cleaned out the corn house put the corn in barn halled a load wood
