Bro Coalman preached Bro Saml at meeting I pd Bro Lowery $10.25 cts money pd for me not long since pd Bro ANderson 45cts for Sister Sarah postage Mr G Southword sent for plaster near gully on river field fencing by Ma,s grubing etc sent to mill 2 turns corn halled up a stack hay halled lode wood

Fair cold morning cool day I went to Carmel Bro Coalman preached communion to day Llewellyn went with Ma,s Llewellyn has a tooth ache E. Winston & daughter at meeting Dr Booker & wife at meeting Bro Saml & boys 2 Thomasia & I walked on river Uncle Anderson brought 1/2 bu sweet potatoes hear to night for me Winston at meeting spoke to me about notes etc

Fair cold morning the ground frozen cool d I carryed Llewellyn to scool to Smiths he has 18 or 19 scollars I made a hot bed in garden by garden house or plant bed I rode to Winsons saw him on meadow grubing he is to carry the small notes to coart to Wm T. I stoped at Terrells store saw Mr G & Dr etc came by Ma,s Thomasia went to Ma,s Mr G bought x cut saw at Terrells moved the hog pen & hogs in apple orchard ploughing new ground halled 2 lodes in garden in hot bed halled lode of dirt straw etc bruging etc burning brush etc

Fail cold morning I fixed my sub colter went to Bro Samls to carry a letter or two & bundle for Bro S. to carry to town - met Edmond with Carly bar swamp stop at Ma,s I put one bushel & over of sweet potatoes in the hot bed planted pepper cabbage seed etc in that bed Mrs Southworth & Susan came over this evening planted cymblains in garden sent Joh to have a screw cut by Robinsdon. raking burning brush cutting etc in new ground I put potatoes in hot bed

Fair mild day commenced planting corn by the new ground subsoiling the land & using plaster & ashes & plaster in hill I planted a row at the end of legon road without plaster and the 18 th rough [row] this side with out  subsoiling but plastered it went to fis[h] traps caught 2 fish Wm Samuel & JNohn Lewis came to look at my cows talks of trading got a letter fr4om Barbara Thomasia went to Mr Southworth, George for Turkey etc planting coern improved white corn subsoiling etc

Fair mild day I put my tobacco in win roughs & fixed the gate at shop etc set 2 turkeys in garden etc Bro Seay came by to night to take a list of mly propity. planting corn finished old land the other side of meadow - planting on this side by crossing etc sent Anna some seed corn for garden use bird a whip powill to night put tobacco in corn roughs planting corn subsoiling etc planrted butter beans etc ert etc etc

Fair mild day I finished planting corn by the path as you go to Ma,s & in swamp by irish potatoe patch & rock spring coaltered the lore end I rode to Terrells store & bought some things blacken oil bucket etc pd him 73 cts owe for bucket I caught the gobler to day tied him in garden planting corn planting the Burruss corn this evening sub soiling etc etc

Fair mild day I finished planting corn the left of the parth going to rock spring rakg the meadow etc I rode to Ma,s & to mill Louisa & Ann Talley came up with 2 of her children Charles came up Llewellyn went with Saml Gouldin home he came & stayed till evening I must plant irish potatoes the 17th of this month } to the 25th of month planting corn back of peach orchard up to barn rakg meadow diging holes for water mellons halled a lode manure put manure in hills etc

Fair Cdy Morning cold fair evening I went to Mr Wm Crawford,s for 8 sheep & lambs for which I pd him $24.00ct Partler was there. I stoped at Smith's store & bought a hat for Jimmy pd him 25cts,I make a pen & put my sheep up to night had quite a runingtuck [took] after them ploughing & planting of corn in the meadow rakg & coaltering in frunt of the house shelled corn & sent it to mill etc halled rails for sheep pen

Cdy most of the day. A frost cool morning I put somecorn in soak, planted a hill of watermellon seed burryed some seed made hills or covered over the manure I walked to Ma,s & Anna, saw Anna about steer Lucy R at Ma,s I fixed the sheep pen etc etc watered plant bed etc ploughing in front of the house & subsoiling etc halling out rocks etc grubing, [Bay?] minding of sheep & put them in the pen

Fair pretty day Thoma & children went to Ma, I went down to dinner Emily & Lucy & Louisaat Ma, Molly came over this evening went back home I came up home & went back to Ma,s planting corn in front of the house raked the corn in plaster I pitched ladder laying off the roughs for corn & subsoiling plantingcorn this evening, makg cymblain hills grubing etc etc

Rainy day fine & rain cool day Raining hard to night I sowed some cabbage seed in corn field put some corn in soak roled in plaster & ashes plantg by the shop & Moriah,s house I went to Mr Southworth he was at the mill Llewellyn bought ruster of g Southworth for 2/3 d I pd Bob $1.00 for makg shoes Norman broght 1 gallon tar for me at 25 cts Joh got a licking by Smith planting corn by shop roli some in tar [to prevent animals from tearing kernels and to protect against wire worms] plaster ashes etc subsoiling etc planted cabbage seed

Cdy Snow lell [fell?] last night the ground covered there is some snow in banks about now cold fencing on meadow runing across the river below rock spring I rode to Mr G Southworth to look  at his hens sheep etc went to Ma, to borrow her horse cart to carry some bacon to Depot in morning boxed it up 34 hams send one to Barbara Mr G at Ma, this evening Emily & Louisa there Dr sent up to night for Louisa halled a lode straw some hay etc halling rails fencing on the meadow below R spring cutting rail timber malling grubing meadow etc

Fair a large frost cold night & morning the ground frozen the leaves frozen on the trees etc Mr S. came from Depot drunk I sent 3 hens to Mr Southwards to swap got 3 of him mine weighed 3 1/2 lbs more than his, sent 2 hens to Mr Southworth to take to Barbara he is going to Richmond tomorrow hewing rails I bobed my dog [bragowe?] killed ginea sent Bob to Depot with bacon James Taylor got letter from Harriet & Barbara sent to Depot halling rails straw wood etc malling rails oak fencing grubing

Fair mild day I made a coop or huvel [hovel] to day planted irish potatoes a few manured with guano & chalf I rode to Canfields to look for potatoes stoped at Anna, & Ma, James T. & wife went down to day from Ma,s Emily & Sister Sarah went to Mr Gouldins this evening Kitty S came & staid till evening finished troughing up the manure in farm pen & halled some to cymblain patch makg the hills halled chalf & planted a few potatoes raked over cotton patch & a potatoe patch back of stack sent to G Southworth to try to get some irish potatoes has none

Rained this evening small shower I halled out manure & planted a part of potatoe patch abour 24 or 5 roughs sent to Mr Harrises for potatoes got 3 1/2 bu of him. Llewellyn went to know if I could get them saw Charles Harris etc I gave the hands the ballance of evening leviled Lanzys house a boy brought a gallon of Tar at 25 cts ploughing & subsoiling potatoe patch halling out manure 16 lodes planted a part of it makg hills for cymblains etc
