Fair large frost Thomasia Harriet & John went to Depot in Mr Southward barouch Llewellyn drove Mr. Southward pd me $15.25 cts for John Dickinson for seed wheat. We went to Richmond carryed Moriah to nerce [nurse] Lizy went to Wm Dandridge,s Dr A & W Dr Nelson & family & others were there carryed a letter to L. Redd to Richmond great many persons in Town I pd $4.37 1/2 cts to go to Richmond ploughing cutting down corn halling up etc shucking Bob went to Depot in cart to carry trunks & Moriah

Fair large frost we went out to the fair pd 37 1/2 cts to go in. the first State fair in Richmond. General Scot [Virginia-born Winfield Scott, 1786-1866] spoke & Tyler [former President John Tyler. 1790-1862] & others I went in evening. Pd $1.50 for a pair boots for John saw Mrs Carter at fair. Molly Lucy & Sister Sophia, folks wer at the fair Mr Talleys folks etc warm most of the day Lin came to fair cutting & halling up corn ploughing shucking etc

Fair went to fair with girls pd to go in 25 cts. Bought Llewellyn pr boots $2.00 I saw Betty Johnson at fair & others – a great display of things ploughing for wheat & cutting down & halling up corn shucking etc

Fair a frost cool I came up to day pd $1.25 cts rode in Trevillions carriage a part of the way home met Llewellyn I went to Ma,s & to lore barn faned out some wheat etc sent Lanzy to Wiltchers for 2 hogs got them home gave Thomasia 12 or 15 dollars ploughing lent Anna a horse to hall up corn halling up corn etc

Fair a large frost cold morning I went to the Depot for Thomasia &children left Harriet in Richmond to stay borrowed Mr Southworth barouch & Ma,s cart etc Wm Swann & Miss Moriah I went down day Mr Gouldin came for 22 bu wheat by measure went to depot ploughing shucking corn faned wheat brought up 14 1/2 bu killed 2 pigs halled a lode or two of wood

Fair most of the day a large frost, weighed 2 pigs weighed one 46 lbs one 66 lbs cut them out sent down to Anna,s & had irish potatoes dug sowed 3 bu wheat rakd it in Clarence came with Llewellyn home to night cut out hogs halled a lode of wood shucking corn dug potatoes by Anna,s rakg in wheat 3 bu shelling corn

Fair mild day I finished putting up my corn about 9 or 10 loads I carryed Thomasia to out gate she went to Cty Line to hear Dr. Rice preach I went to Terrells store bought a hat $4.00 went to Lucks to see him about beef etc finished putting up the corn halling rails for hog pen cutting & malling rails grubing in wheat patch etc shelling corn etc

Rain a drop or two this evening fair most of the day I went to old place to divide the corn at Halls I got nearly 10 barrells my part short & long put it in the loar barn sent Bob to Bro Saml,s for a tun of guano he got back late to night with 12 bags I put it in barn etc Mr Southworth got 2 bu rye of me to day at at 80 cts a bu Rye I put up 3 cart lodes corn in my barn below & sent to Bro Saml,s for one tun guano malling rails cutting grubing etc have 2021 lbs guano

Fair most of the d cdy morning I went to barn for steelyards [like balances] sent a bar of iron to the mill for Bro Saml 54 lbs for rake teeth beeting guano sowing etc I killed 2 squirls shot fesant etc etc etc Mary Louisa is at Mr Gouldins with sick child Llewellyn went to Bro Saml,s to carry a letter to Molly. Beeting guano sowed 3 bags raked it in, sowed 2 bu wheat, halling wood & rails etc

Fair warm day foggy morning I went to mill after Bartlett saw Sister Sarah Clarence came with Llewellyn Brag got holt of Llewellyn Bro Saml Molly & the Fitzhughs went to Dr Gouldins to day I pd Dick Boulware $13.00 owe him $1.00 sowed 4 1/2 bags guano & 3 bu wheat & raked it in ploughed a part of guano in made hog pen halling rails beeting guano grubing etc

Foggy morning warm day I went to new barn for wheat brought up 5 bu Bartlett working in shop all day I put Blossom & Lilly in the meadow I made a pen in stack put them in to night. sowed 3 bu guano & ploughed a part in & raked a part in Llewellyn & Clarrence went hunting caught hair etc etc sowed 2 bu wheat & ploughed a part in the guano raked wheat in ploughing in meadow beet one or two bags guano & sowed 3 bags & ploughed & raked it in

Rain a few drops this evening warm day I put up my hogs etc went to Terrells store bought 2 buckets for 45 cts saw Bib & Gatewood at store had cow berried swaped caps with Llewellyn to night Robinson had 12 lbs plate iron finished ploughing the meadow & sowed it wheat 1 1/2 bu grubing shelled 2 turns corn sent it to mill sent corn for chop did not get the meal burryed burried halling out manure to wheat patch sowed one bag guano 34 bu in all of wheat

Cdy day rained a few drops at George McLaughlins bought his steers for $30. I went down there stoped at Providence got some kreosote for Charles to put on his tooth [for toothache] he came up this morning to hav his tooth pulled gave it out I dined at Geo McL I stoped to see Thos Chandler spoke for wheat saw Bro Wortham & wife Dr A promised to take qt of beef yoke of oxen ploughing for corn halled rails & fenced in hay stacks halling manure opening water furrows grubing etc etc

Fair cool evening & windy foggy morning the Halls came by killing my birds & I went hunting saw Linzy Terrell 2 Cobbs Winston & Luck I caught hair they started a turkey I had ball [name] beef killed this evening went to Mr Harrises & Tates to sell beef Tate is to get a qtr Tate qr beef fallowing grubing halling out manure etc killed a beef halling wood sent to mill for meal

Fair cold day the ground hard frozen cold north wind I weighed the beef Tates qr weighed 98 lbs – the Dr,s weighed 107 lbs at 7 cts Tates 6 cts foar qr the other foar qr weighed 108 lbs mine 102 lbs I went to George McLaughlins for a yoke oxen carryed Bob & Jessey brought them up there names are – (Buck & Lain) the black cow has her head swelled think from snake bite something of the sort. W gave the cow green planting etc oxen fallowing grubing Lanzy carryed the Dr a qr of beef 107 lbs at 7 cts sent for shucks at Halls halled 2 loads wood etc had potatoes covered at Moriah,s house

Fair cold morning a very large frost saw ice 3/4 in thick I went by George Southworths & to Winston to sell beef solled Winston 34 lbs at 7 cts. $2.38 cts. went to Carmel no one at the division room Dr came by to see Martha,s child the Dickinsons & Charles came by hunting the Black Cow died last night from a snake bite, I think – had her scined to night gave Garland an order for a pr boots Bob & I made pin at stack & put the cows in to night Garland & Lanzy cutting & halling brush to turnip patch covered it halled a lode wood etc
