Cdy day a little rain to night put old sow in pen by shop turned out the sow to night cleaned out the corn house put 2 1/2 bls corn from Anna,s wadi [valley] new ground, carryed 3 bags guano 400 lbs sowed it by gate going to Mt Airy raking it in shaved Mr Hill saw Bro Saml going to Winston made a line 70 yds long Canfield mended rod to rake saw N Luck etc some saw wile geese sowed 400 lbs guano raked it in halling up corn pulling off sent 2 cows to Ma, pasutre to day

Rain little thundered and lightened saw rainbow I went to Canfields to have nose piece on ox cart made 14 nails etc went to the Election & voted for Scott & Graham [whig presidential candidate, General Winfield Scott and William Graham] a tin peddler came tonight has a dog in wagon had an earthquake tonight [felt particularly strongly in Fredericksburg, Richmond & Scottsville] sowed 494 lbs guano  & raked it in sowed 1 1/2 bu wheat raked it in beet up guano pulling corn sent to mill for meal & planks

Fair a pretty day the pedlar went away after breakfast I bought 2 tins one for bob & 1 for Moriah pd 50 cts he gave us 1/2 doz plates he went by Anna I washed 4 1/2 bu wheat & sowed it finished the fallowed land it took 8 bu to sow the land - got 8 planks from mill 9 feet 3 in long 10 in wide sowed 6 1/2 bu wheat raked it laid off some land to sow guano burnt the [hunhest?] grass off halling up corn faned out some wheat shucking corn etc etc etc etc

Fair mild sent guano down to sow by Canfields - sowed I got a qt of beef of Hardyman 25 3/4 lbs finished his rake had some guano hal[led] up got a paper from Anna, I shot 3 birds by Mt Airy gate sowed 400 lbs guano & ploughed it in carryed 311 lbs to barn halled a lode pine leaves grubing in wheat patch shucking corn etc.

Rain a little shower or two I went down to lore barn & to where they wer sowing guano etc I washed 5 bu wheat & roled it in lime saw several persons going to sale at Hardymans Edmond left Carts hear to night sowee 357 lbs guano & ploughed it in finished the field by Canfields ploughing raked in 2 bu wheat pulling off corn halled up one lode and put away my sweet potatoes

Fair a large frost cold morning saw ice put up the corn 4 lodes and a half 3 barrels & 1/2 in a lode Dabney came for his money $1.00 for shoes Tate came to look at the land to tend at old place I went to Mr. Rennols & to Trevilllions looking for a hog I bought 3 back bands of Flemming at 23cts a piece Edmond came for Sister Sarah to stay with Louisa I shaved Mr Hill this evening put up about 18 bls corn sent to mill for meal etc commenced ploughing on the River hill for wheat halling up corn etc

Fair cool day I went to Ma, Sister Sarah & Emily went to Dr Gouldins Wm Saml Talley was at Ma this morning with shoes etc I spoke to Ma, for her plough & Roburt faned out some seed wheat beet up 4 bags guano etc halling up corn ploughing on Harks creek killed 2 hogs to night house hogs small ones

Fair a cool day large frost saw ice ground frozen a little crust I went to Ma, & Mr Taylers - saw Wm Harris hunting at Mamas, - Kitty came over to night - I washed 2 bu wheat & left it in the water in brine, Mama, sent a 1/2 of a little beef to me sowed 3 bu wheat finished the land by Canfields & moved to new ground sowed 150 lbs guano & ploughed it in cutting down corn stalks and halling them home cut out 2 hogs weight 65 each

Fair, a very large frost, cool day, I went to Providence after Phisick ella at Mr Buttlers, Dr in Richmond washed 2 bu whe went to see Martin he is complaining of his finger, saw Mr Harris at new ground sowed 2 bu wheat at new ground I weighed a 1/2 of little beef or Ma, weighed 44 lbs cut it out Bob has a ball shoe thread ploughing at new ground - sowed 350 lbs guano robert ploughing for me I sowed 2 bu wheat sent to Mr Taylor tohall corn up for the shucks etc.

Fiar cool day cold morning large frost I went to Carmel to the Division Bro Saml & Mr Noel wer there. I rode colt finished sowing wheat at new ground it took 5 bu to sow it sowed 100 lbs guano on the land etc say Hardyman halling wood etc finished sowing ballhead wheat sowed 1 bu at new ground & 1 at H Creek Mammoth wheat washed it etc Roburt ploughing sent to mill choping around the stumps at new ground sifted some guano etc Lanzy went to wife house halled 2 loads wood

Fair cold day I washed 4 bu mammouth wheat in brine cut 2 lodes of wood & halled it up etc killed 9 hogs this evening Llewellyn went to scool did not get back tonight Robison pointed 2 d P for me George Grimes came by halled 2 lodes wood etc ploughing by barn etc killed 9 hogs choping around stumps at new ground halled some stalks etc etc Lanzy got home 1 ock Nelson & Wm came up to [nick?] about the hogs etc.

Bro Stevens came by i fixed a bottom in ox cart etc beeting up guano etc Llewellyn went to show yesterday got home to night I went to see Mr Taylor about his hogs stoped at Ma,s halled 2 lodes wood ploughing cut out 9 hogs weighed 91, 81, 91, 78, 78, 90, 92, 83 77 halling up corn stalks & a lode corn beeting up guano etc shucking corn

Cdy most of the day I went to look for my oold sows came by Mr Taylors & helped him to pull off his corn finished pulling & halling John Swann came we dined with Mr Taylor Mr Harris came up with me went by Anna, I saw a great many fox tracks by Mr Taylors sent 2 carts to hall up Mr Taylors corn halled up 2 lodes top ofdder etc shelling corn

Fair cold eday a large frost I went to look for my hogs saw the fox hunters they started a fox red in slash hird from my hogs halled up all my corn stoped at Mr Taylors & Mama, Llewellyn went to Bro Saml to hunt - sent to mill corn for chop halled a lode of wood finished halling up my corn from new ground 8 or 10 lodes put away the beets & some greens etc put the corn in barn with shucks etc

I went to the old place to get a log to send to mill Mr Taylor & I went hog hunting I went to W Englans bought 2 pieces leather for $4.50 cts Cates Calf died last night - washed 1/2 bu mam wheat - Molly got to Ma, yesterday Mary Swann is to marry Mr Minor to night saw my sows to day sowed 1 1/2 bu wheat finished sowing sowed 150 lbs guano & raked it in etc sent a log and turn corn to mill Lanzy skined calf etc cutting down corn stalks sowed fifty six and a half bushels wheat in all 56 1/2 bu wheat sowed in 1852

Rainy day a heavy rain to night I ground 4 or 5 axes halled 2 lodes of wood shucking corn in barn 3 bls put in corn house sent to Anna, for 1/2 of my beef it weighed 197 lbs - I had the skin got 2 bls flour of Anna at $5.00 a barrell Ann Talley at Ma, & girls --- cutting wood 2 lodes shucking corn sent for beef flour etc

Fair day, We went to Mama & Thomasia worked a piece of cloth Molly & girls wer there Ann & Wm went to Dr Gouldins Wm Swann was at Ma, I hired Garland for next year for $800.00 Ma, hired him Joh for the same Bob carryed the fan to loar barn brought up 2 calvs etc Mr Gouldin walked to wheat patch with me on his way home halling leaves to stack halled 2 lodes wood covered the greens etc in garden
