Fair mild day I made a wedge etc in smith shop working on wheel etc N Luck came for some rose [stips? hips?] etc we walked over the corn field land worked on the rode by the shop etc Llewellyn went to scool stayed at home a fortnight nearly Bro Saml went to Mr Keans Ploughing new ground malling grubing cutting, etc.

Fair mild day I finished the little wheel Dr A came by on his way to Chiles Burg on the sale John went to Providence for irish potatoes planted 3 squares in the garden. sent to Mr Harrises for 1/2 bu clover seed Mr Carter bought [will con?] for $600 planted potatoes malling grubing ploughing new ground for corn halling

Fair a cool morning I finished sowing clover seed 1/2 bu finished the river field Canfield put the tire on little cart wheel made 3 ribits for rake etc Commenced sowing oats by Canfields rakeing with 2 rakes I rode the sorrel colt to the oat patch she threw Lanzy to day commenced sowing oats sowed 6 1/2 bushels rakeing in halled a lode of July Ann's things up halled some straw in the garden to cover the potatoes grubing etc.

Rain & Hailed rainy evening I put several links in chain & set two steel traps one for other working on little cart body Old Mr Southward is dead died last Saturday I think sowing oats rakeing in halled durt to the kitchen Bobs [room?] sent to mill etc sowed 10 1/2 bu oats grubing new ground etc.

Cdy day mild it rained a good deel last night I fixed the little cart body halled 3 or 4 lodes coal dust in garden Lanzy broke my cart axle I fixed up my wagon wheels for ox cart front wheels Edmond Redd came for a pice Moracco [leather] & dined Llewellyn staid at home to day brought up the fan & faned out the screenings wheat [everything but the grain - hulls, stems, etc.; can be used for feed] malling rails grubing etc.

Rainy morning I split out most of my spoke timber I rode to Ma, & to the mill to see about grinding plaster etc got my papers from Anna, Bob moved July Ann up this evening in kitchen or middle room sent to mill etc etc

Fair mild cdy morning I caught a muskrat in fish trap had a [drag?] Gatewood & Wiltcher came by I went to Mr Tates & to Bro Joel Lucks pd him $10. for 1 steer went to Mama, for Thomasia we brought up some box & flowers etc halled lode straw grubing halling wood ploughing etc etc

Fair very windy day west win the fire got away this evening burnt Johns coat up etc etc Dr Anderson came by I went by Mr. Lindsey - Terrells went to Mrs Sally Terrells pad Miss Pamela Terrell $8 in trust monty pd him 42.06cts for Ma, saw Wm Terrell offered $3. for carry log stoped at Winstons shop to have bridle bit mended & left it to be mended planted out some boxes etc etc around the yard - Mr Terrell has several horses fallowing grubing burnign brush etc.

Fair cool day north w. I caught 5 fish this morning bated steel trap with fish I trimed up the trees in the yard & fixed a railing by the kitchen went to Ma, killed a ginney [guinea] went to see my sheep have 14 or 15 lambs lost several lambs brought up som [?] grass. rakeing out land & ploughing for oats by peach orchard halling rails by shop grubing etc etc sowed carrot seed etc.

Fair cool day I went to Winstons, shop had a bridle bit mended for 12 1/2cts he is makeing me a steel trap a lartge one I went to Ma, for some trees - damsons & pears went to the mill etc etc Ploughing for oats halling plank from Mill grubin etc

Fair mild day cdy to night I made 2 snares & set them on the river set out some pear trees around the yard & some damsons back of garden set out some grape vines on swamp thined up the peach trees & dug around them & put a block under kitchen etc sowing oats sowed 13 1/2 bu halling wood & rails grubing etc etc

Fair mild day I went to Winstons shop to see about steel trap rode davy mule Umphey brought up some cabbage beens potatoes peas etc sent 29 trees peach to Ella I set out 6 up hear in peach orchard - set out some flours in the garden Miss Betsy Hill gave ma a gum tree & caught 2 fish in trap etc. Emily at Ma Lucy went to Dr Gs to scool. Sowing oats sowed 5 bu finished by Canfields sent to mill grubing etc.

Fair mild & windy day I have been trimming up my apple trees by the tobacco house I went to Mr Dukes woods the fire got away I weeded the river fire got away at my new ground I caught 3 fish carp, bated the trap this evening etc ploughing for oats on Ma, land on the meadow & halling dirt from the River in garden halled late strat & grubing etc.

Fair mild I walked to Ma,s & to old Mr Taylors to set out a rose bush - salted the sheep I have 17 lambs 27 old sheep Bro Saml & Edmond came this morning went to Wiltchers to see a horse went home this evening with some apple trees etc Emily was at Ma, I caught a pike, sowing oats on Ma, land sowed 11 bushels sent 2 ploughs to W shop had a mole board [moldboard, curved metal plate that turns over earth from furrow] put on etc 2 ploughs

Fair cool day Thomasis & I went to Providence & to T Castle for altheer [altar?] & flours - I set out 6 plum trees on the river. Wm & Emily Talley came by. Mary at Providence Drin Richmond. John went away to day (Charles came for apple trees Edmong bought a horse of Mr Temple $30. grubing burning brush etc.

Cdy day, cool day I set out some flowers & trees quince etc etc Tom Grimes came for 2 barrells of coal for Winston (borrowed_) I made 2 linch pins triming trees etc I went to Mr Southwards to draw off on account against John Mason, I caught 6 fish mostly chub Manlius Anderson came by Tom Burrus is dead grubing ploughing new ground burning brush etc Lanzy cutting a ditch for a hedbe by kitchen.

Snowed last night the ground nearly covered this morning. Fiar day etc very cool the ground frozen, this morning, some snow to night. I saw ice sickles a foot long on the river sent some apple trees to Charles Gouldin I fixed up the horse card made [buck?] pin etc I walked to Mama, Edmond Dr Gouldins came up with horse for Wm Talley grey brought up 12 apple trees to set out cat heads cheeses etc Mama had 1/2 16 sole leather for Roburt halled 3 lodes straw sent to mill for meal gurbing ploughing for oats at Ma,

Cdy morning cool day & smokey evening. I spent the day at home. Cathy S. came over & stayed till after supper caught 1 or 2 fish walked to plant bed Mrs Walker Cobbs is dead

Fair a very cool morning mild day saw ice on the creek I set out 12 apple trees & manured them etc set out2 cut paper mulberry trees in yard and the hedge by kitchen - set a turkey etc etc Mrs Cobbs funeral to be preached sowed 11 1/2 bu oats halled some mold out woods grubing ploughing etc (sowed 58 bu oats)

S[n] owed a few flakes Rained a pretty shower finished sowing oats on Ma,s land sowed 3 1/2 bu to day makeing 36 bu in all on Ma,s land sowed 2 1/2 bu by my barn on meadow caught a pirch I growned [ground] 2 small axes, I handled one for Llewellyn & John triming apple trees etc. John went look for sheep - sowing oats finished on Ma, land etc sowed 6 bushels 36 on her land grubing etc

Fair mild day we went to Anna, to spend the day - I went to the mill to see about grinding plaster they commenced grinding this evening. John & I carryed a lode plaster to grind brought up a lode of axle trees & laths chop etc Emma G at Anna, I pointed 2 ploughs Mr Taylor had his let out grubing halling plaster etc

Fair mild day Mr Gouldin came & dined I went with John to the mill with plaster and brought a lode back Mr Terrell carryed lode corn John cutting down little pines a party at Mr Dukes Molly Betty Betty & Emma went to party sent plaster to mill etc Ploughing new ground & grubing burning brush etc halled lode dirt

Rain this evening it thundered a good deal - I went to the division room Mr Noel, Burruss, & Valentine wer there - I finished triming the trees apple at E. Hill. John wint to Cty Line gave him Richinsons account to collect. Bob went to Winstons shop had 2 ploughs & got a steel trap - sent to mill for plaster sent to shop halling wood grubing etc etc

Fair cool day I went to Cty Line - Bro Allen preached Mr Morris Smith was at meeting electioneering - Sam Swann came by John gave me some black oats that came from California Wm Swann at Mrs Swanns. sent for some hats by John & Ben Anderson - Roburt Davist very low in Richmond with measles

Fair a little cool I cut teeth in big steel trap and set it on the river etc planted 3 & a 1/2 rows of California oats by the shop. made a bolt for plough cut down some bushes on the rocky hill H creek. Sowed plaster by the barn rock spring & where I sowed lime Roburt Davist died at the Richmond Colledge & was carryed home. sowing plaster ploughing new ground grubing etc halled lode straw
