Fair Linnaeus & I walked to creek & hill he went over home this morning. Ann Moriah died this evening makg coffin etc I went to Ma, Bro Saml was there I went to Anna,s Lewis hill was there Miss Henry pd me $9. for her brother R I shaved Mr Hill and pulled out Bettys tooth etc my wheat has a great many joint worms [tiny black insects that prevent stem development] in it. I brought up Bro Ss buggy had a step mended by John working on Ma,s wheels cutting cover weeding corn ree planting etc

Fair warm & dry dug under rock at river Thomasia & I went to N Lucks to prayer meeting Bro Allen & Davist spoke John worked a little in shop this morning I pd him 35 cts in full sent a letter by Jim to Barbara. Sent for Ma,s Bull brought him up to night Coaltering & cultivating corn weeding etc.

Fair very warm & dry I painted a pr of wheels for Ma,s to day with 50 cts. screwed up Mr Hills buggy & made washers 12 1/2 cts worth - I went to Bro Saml, this evening Betty Gouldin is there. Bro Saml went down to town to day Lin Tom Lewis Edmon & others went down - hived a swarm of bees at Mama,s Jessey came by to get a list of my propity - weeding corn coultering etc

Rain a shower light, planted musk mellon seed wed watermellons etc set out some tomatoe plants watered them beet out 5 quarts turnip seed etc I went to Ma, & Taylors I cut 2 hogs in pen cut some clover & set a trap for halk weeding corn coaltering & cultivating it etc etc halled up some clover etc

Fair a cool day Ma had a fire all day we went to Ma,s I shaved Mr Hill went after cherries etc Mr Hill sent for his buggy I sent my mare to shop to have a shoe nailed on by Winston or Grimes I nailed a tin on bee house to night fixed a cross in it etc etc working the corn John went to Gatewoods this evening

Cdy most of day rain a few drops this evening I put a lock on out gate next to Ma, gathered some straw berries we went to Ma, & the old place for goose berries etc salted sheep weeding corn ploughint tobacco patch on the upper part meadow & by the spring hilling on meadow

Rain a good one to night rains right down I plastered the potatoes in garden snaps etc and plastered my watermellons set out some tomatoe plants on the river choped some hills for tobacco back of orchard & tobacco house Llewellyn went to Ma, to hill tobacco land by barn hilled the land for tobacco on meadow & getting the land by orchard ready [testing?] it etc choping etc

Fair cool I went to Bro Saml, with John & Bob for sugar & tobacco plants got 118 lbs sugar at 6 1/2 cts. got a bundle from Linnaeus, that came from Richmond Garlick Hill at Anna, Cary is sick sent for him set out tobacco on meadow & by the spring

Fair cool I walked to Anna, saw Mr Moorman at Anna, Mr Hill very poly Betty Gouldin at Mama, I worked over my water mellon vines - killed a large snake on river black. Ma, gave me 50cts to get a tin at Smith, ploughing tobacco land by tobacco house & back of orchard Llewellyn has not been to scool this 3 days

Fair a cool day I went to Anna, & shoped Old Mr Hill went to Mr Smiths store bought 3 tins for milk one for Ma bought 2 blades 20 lbs sugar at 10cts bought hat for Llewellyn pd off $1.81 cts I went with Thomasia to Mr Lindsy Terrells & spent evening. John & Llewellyn went to take bee tree - got some honey I turned mare & colt in clover field ploughing tobacco lot the turnip patch & back of garden old cotton patch

Fair a little cool I went to Carmel carryed Llewellyn & Harriet to the temperance meeting Dr S Dickenson & Ware joined the sons this moring had 3 speaches one from Scot Nash & Johnson had a very fine dinner gave Bob & Lanzy leather for shoes brakeing clods in tobacco patch Negroes had holiday this evening

Fair we went to Providence I went to Carmel carryed Llewellyn & Harriet had a temperance sermon by Mr Scott if meet make my Bro to etc his tex [text?] I dined at Providence Linnaeus dined there & Mr Quarles we came up home this evening

Fair warm sent for the come to Mr Dukes by Bartlett he waded the river coming back water very low I got 2 bags guano from the mill that Bro Sam got for me in Richmond We went to Anna, this evening Lewis Hill is there saw Miss Betsy went home this evening I shaved Mr Hill July Ann & Martha working out. put a bag guano or nearly in drills for tobacco ploughed raked etc ploughed potatoes etc.

Raining a little to night thundering a good deel lightning very warm day I patched up the plastering July Ann white washing etc I went to Ma, to Davy Cobbs to see Mr Martin he went after timber etc Bob went to W shop carryed 2 ploughs John went to look for ox ploughing corn weeding etc.

Rain a little shower to night warm day I had 2 lodes straw halled and put on ice & around watered my watermellons with guano water etc killed a lamb sent to mill for meal etc. I went to Ma, & Anna, shaved Mr Hill etc Mr Lanclot Junior at Miss Betsys brought up by Robin steer to fatten ploughing corn on river weeding straw etc moved cow pen etc

Rain a pretty shower this evening I went to Carmel to the division of the Sons 2 Mr Terries joined this evening I rode down on my gig, I paid 87 cts dues 10 or 12 persons at division I wed over my watermellon vines Emily Chenry is dead died suddenly ploughing corn weeding thining etc set out a few tobacco plants by spring

Rain a very heavy one at Davy CObbs we came over home this morning Tom brought over the Barouch to Bro Saml, I cut his hare Harriet staid at Bro Saml to see Barbara she is coming up tomorrow Llewellyn started to scool has not got back yet John went to Gatewoods store for sythe blades did not get them went to Bro Samuels for plants - Tobacco I went to see Martin about sythe cradles repairing one for me & Ma, I pd Thacker $2. for Tom B. I stoped at Anna, & shaved Mr Hill sent 2 S.P. to shop ploughing corn weedng etc etc

Cdy day a drop or two rain I rode to Mr Dukes to look for Llewellyn found him there saw Mr Duke in corn field I made bee hive etc took hive at ivy hill for Roburt I went to dd place & Ma, commenced cutting wheat on fallowed land Llewellyn got back tonight from scool Ma, hands came up to cut wheat etc set out tobacco cutting wheat ploughing for tobacco & greens etc commenced ploughing my watermellon patch

Rain this morning & last night John & Bob went to Bro Saml for tobacco plants John got a blade of Bro Saml to cut wheat, I made a rake to day etc etc I rote a letter to H Yass & to Wm Swann thining corn set out potatoe plants cutting wheat set out tobacco manured the lan[d] with guano & ploughed it etc.

Fair cool day I went to Mama, & Anna, carryed 2 letters one for W Swann & 1 for H Vass I shaved Mr Hill Anna sent the letters to Depot cutting wheat etc commenced by shop this evening went after rasberries for supper I sent Mr Duke a bunch of wheat cutting wheat on the river by the shop etc

Fair cool morning - James McLaughlin came over this morning we walked to Mama, Mr Talley & girls were there Ann Emily Jenny I went to the division Mr Ellion Wortham joined this evening a pretty full meeting Mr Talley had 2 samples of my wheat to carry home cutting wheat for Ma, & a little at new barn etc.

Fair warm day Thomasia & I went to Linnaeus & spent the day Barbara went to Providence with Tom Lewis & Tom at Sons Sister Cornelia came over in evening with Harriet & cildren Barbara came home with us I cut Toms hare saw Ann & Emily at Ma, cutting wheat finished the field by lore [lower?] bar. cutting at Mamas etc

Rainy morning a pretty shower sent to Bro Saml for tobacco plants to ree planted by the house I white washed the kitchen etc finished cutting wheat at Mama, cutting for me set out greens in garden I went to Ann, & Anna - shaved Mr HIll etc Mr Talley walked in my wheat patch on river Mr Clay died to day 11 ock. AM. at Washington ct [U.S. Sen. Henry Clay Sr. died of tuberculosis, age 75] chopped over tobacco ground by the house replanted it etc tutting wheat etc.

Rain a hard shower this evening I white washed the kitchen & a part of the smoke house I dug up all of the blue thisle I could fine finished cutting my wheat this evening by the house Man Anderson came & dined went to Gatewoods Mr Southward had a 1/2 of a lamb at $1.00 killed lamb, finished cutting my wheat set out some tobacco plants this evening got them of Mr Southward
