Clear a north win a pretty day I went to T Castle the dr and I had a settlement 24 dollars for plough Wright etc he paid me my shop account 56 dollars 5 cts John came up with me home Mr Taylor came up to old place in Dr wagon Lewis R at Ma, & Mr Talley etc Julia ann came to live at $25.00 sent to mill went for my sow 5 + pigs 2 sows & 8 pigs

Cdy d Rain a little to night I rode to Mama, saw Wm Talley & Lewis & Edwin & Thad Fitzhugh & the Talleys at Ma, 1 measured the ditch Parks cut Anna, part 126 yards at 2 1/2 cts a yard $3.16 cts Sparks part 73 yards at same pd him 50cts owe him 15cts let Thad 2 gallons molaces 3/3c a gallon to night going to hav a stew at Mama, I rode to Mr Taylors to day & pd Edwin $1, money borrowed. sent corn to mill halled a lode of spoke timber from Cobbs patching farm pen etc

Fair I went to Mamas & went to Mr Hardymans in sley with E Fitzhugh and collected the shop account 44 dollars & 73 cts pd him for feathers $2 2 lbs butter 2/ we went to Mrs Lucks Mary & sh pd her shop account $9.44cts Simon taylor brought his dog over that cost him $48.50cts Edwin & Thad dined here I went to Mr W Southworth he pd $6 part of his account Thad killed a pigeon of mine sent Wm Swanns smiths tools to Depot in ox cart by Bob cutting wook oak etc

Fair very cold day I rode to Mr Taylors, saw Mr Tate & wife there saw Mr Clemond Harris on his way to Mr Talleys to teach scool left my sley at the mill & walked to Mr Gouldins sister Emily scalled her feet a few days ago going to have a party there to night Llewellyn went Dick Wadkins came for - John Wiltcher is about to bind him over to the piece I went to Canfields to borrow his cart to carry wheat to Depot faning wheat at new barn fan 42 bushels & put it in rale rode bags

Fair I spent the day in Richmond I bought 3 bu clover seed $5.50 cts or 6 dollars - I pd Dandridge $40. pd carter $25 for Sister Sophia Redd Rent for land & house bought goods at Chenery to the amount of $6.14 pd $3.92 cts to E A Gallaher & Co. Pd. P.D. Bernard $3.00 pd $3.00 on the cars for going and coming spent $2.45 cts ? $9.50 cts I saw John & Saml went to Aunt Mary, [Mary Taylor, 1778-1954] Mr Bernard gave me some Doura corn [sugar millet] I got $93.38 for wheat cutting & getting wood cut down a hickry for axle trees etc etc

Fair mild I went to Anna, s pd Miss henry $50.00 for Anna, money Mr S. Hill sent her by we went to Mama,s - lent Edwin Fitzhugh my saddle to go to Dr. Gouldins Wm Talley went with him - I rode John,s horse to Ma,s workin on the Double house. Crained one rum [room] etc. Mr Southworth went to Richmond yesterday with beef etc Llewellyn went to Mr Gouldins for a puppy cream colour craned one end of the dou house etc.

Fair, cool day. John Watkins hitched his horse to my gig this morning & went tradeing I rode to Mr Dukes to see him about sending Llewellyn to scool he has 10 or 15 scollars He has 15 dollars a scollar cutrting rail timber & burn brush etc I patched the ice house

Fair a large frost I went with Llewellyn to Mr Dukes to scoool cut the ice on the river 6 or 7 inches thick near the bank James McLaughlin is going to Mr. Duke - commenced slabing the stable by the house John Watkins got back this morning traded his horse for a mule cutting & malling rails halling wood etc etc burning brush etc

Fair mild I sawed down the dore to stable John W went after my gig this evening, I went to Mr Joel Lucks & bought a yoke steer am to give 20 dollars half of the money to be paid next fall ten dollars to be pd. in one or two months am to swap 2 turkeys with him - Mr Wilson came for hides got 3 sheep skins 1 to tan with wool on had a small skin of Wm Swanns - John & [rose?] some slabs I saw a gang turkeys near Mr Lucks. I put 3 or 4 lodes ice in house it is very thick covered it over with 3 lodes leaves & halling rails to make a pen around the stable to put a cow and beef in - malling rails etc etc

Fair mild I set a steel trap on swamp for a mink sent for a yoke steers and swaped 2 turkeys with Mr Lucks, we yoked up the steers & tide them to the tobacco house. faced the house by ice house and fenced it in etc sent 4 bags to Mr. Gouldin sent for the fish roe at Mr Gs. ssent wheat & corn to mill to grind for chop for beef etc etc Tom B Anderson came this morning I cut his hair sent to mill for cotton meal [cotton seed meal used for fertilizer & feed] & sent John & Bob for steers etc.

P. [worthy Patriarch, group leader] I pd 59 1/2 cts to Swann I gave 35 cts to Bro Stevems for repairing church etc Llewellyn went with Ma to meeting Burnt a plant bed & sowed tobacco seed on it
