Fair cool I rode to Mr Terrells & carryed a letter went to Winstons shop had a shoe nailed on Bessey the one that Tom Grimes nailed on a short time ago came by Mr T & Ma,s bob went to Depot for Hhd [hogshead] molaces & clover seed about 16 or 20 gallons - Edwin Fitzhugh went to Bro Saml this evening sowed a part of a plant bed in tobacco & burnt another by bridge sent to Depot for things etc. |

Fair cold morning & night last Miss Southworth came to put in a piece cloth we went to Providence, Dr went to sale at Nutons Ella & Mary Eliza went to Lins & Mr Bs, I went to Mr Quarles, & collected my shop account $3.53 cts. went to Mr Worthams & from there to Quarles ma went to Bro Saml got there to dinner came by Mr Buttlers pd Miss Eliza $1.50 cts for mag coat came by Providence & home & saw the Dr he bought a cow at sale Bro Saml went Molly came to Ma, sent to Quarles,s mill with 6 bu wheat (set steel trap on river) burnt a plant bed with Mr Taylor & sowed the bed with tobacco seed put a cow & beef in the pen by ice house etc. Bob carryed 6 bu wheat to mill Quarles etc. |

Cdy most of day commenced fencing by gate to Handymans fence & commenced on the swamp back of the barn ran it by straw stacks to the meadow etc Harriet came home from Ma, sent a letter to Mr Southward to go to Mrs Dandridge - Richmond. Halling rails fencing etc |

Fair mild Dr Anderson came by to day finished a fence below rock spring from the barn. I swung the gate ? below Anna, gave Mama a pen chaf Molly sick - Edwin Fitzhugh went to King William today - Mr Southward came for his sheep - turned Ma, out Bob fallowing for corn halling rails fencing etc. |

Rain showery I opened Mr Hardymans saw etc we hitched the 2 steers I bought of Mr Luck the bufaloe pulled back and I turned him out & hitched the steer I got of Cobb & drove to my barn for a lode straw they pulled finely Anna spoke for some straw etc I brought a saw from core barn etc. finished the fence on the creek ploughing this evening halled a lode straw |

Fair mild day I put 3 rings in 3 hogs noses & I fixed up my out gate Mr Hill paid me $5.30 cts his part of shop act - faned out my oats at core barn 500 do bushels went to Ma,s for 2 bags to put oats in. I saw a mink on swamp. made a yoke of sedar. Mr Southward took up a man of ? Bibbs for a ? John faned out Ma, wheat etc Anna got tobacco out shop stalks etc sent to Quarles, for flour faned out oats halled lode wood etc. |

Fair cool morning I finished the yoke welded the staple to yoke etc John & I made a gate for the back of barn fence Martin came for paint etc. George Luck went to coart for his licence John went to Wilchers for cabbate seed we staked the fence by barn etc. bob ploughing for corn halling rails by ice pond on towards the shop grubing |

Rain this morning it thundered & lightened a good deel last night & a hard win blew down the fence etc I rode to Mama Sister Sarah & Betty Gouldin went to the mill on there way to Mr Talleys to a party Friday night Llewellyn did not get home last night nor tonight I soled Anna a stack straw for $5.00 I swinged [beat] the clore to Mariahs house Canfield spoke for 4 bu oats 50cts putting up the fence by Mr Southwareds halling rails etc made a stack put on swamp |

Fair a cool day I went to Mr Taylors to meet Mr Hardyman let him have 20 apple trees for 6 cts a tree came by Ma went to trap saw a part of a foot in it etc Bro Saml was at Ma this evening Mr Taylor came to let me know that some dogs wer after my sheep saw one at Ma heard to day Llewellyn came home to night I rote a letter to Wm Swann to night dated for tomorrow I made a doar for Martha house some shutters etc sent 4 bu oats to Canfield at 50cts John Mason cut out halling rails fencing opposite shop etc sent tomill etc etc |

Fair a very cool day & windy I finished moveing Mariah layed her floor & Marth halled dirt in Martha, house made her a potato hole James McLaughlin came with Llewellyn yesterday and went home this evening I went to old place & saw 6 lambs sent Bob for the fowls at Mariah, house Bob fallowing for corn halling dirt & wood etc etc grubing working on house etc |

Fair coolday I sent a hickery to mill for axle trees sent 2 pines for yard pole I went to Mr Tates got 2 hubs for cart spoke to him to do some work etc etc gave Roburt my shop act - to give to Miss Betsy Hill Mr Henry & Lucy came up this evening I went with Lanzy to Canfields, John Watkins went to his sisters weding she is going to be married to (Mr Luck George). I put glass I sowed clover seed on the meadow on the river about (Ivy Hill) halling logs to mill halled a lode straw etc ploughing grubing burning brush etc etc etc etc |

Rainy day a sleet fel last night & to day Canfield came to work to breakfast he finished the new rake, I made a 1/2 of a rake & bough etc. Canfield made a wedge, & staple for ox yoke a frolick going on at Hardymans dancing etc etc The Dickinsons were there - playing fiddle, etc. beeting up plaster at the mill etc John helpg Canfield |

Hailed a little & rained thundered & lightened this evening Mr Martin came for some paint got 2 kinds 27 ro 50cts worth I ground point & pointed 2 harrows made 2 ribits [rivets] & sent to Providence for ointment. Sent corn to mill brought up a lode planks 12 pieces ploughing & grubing halling straw etc worked a young steer |

Fair cool morning I walked down to Mama, spoke for some oat land - sent my mare to shop to have her shoes shifted started to plough by Canfields the ground too wet I made a yoke or two for the children made a rack for the meadow fence & got 17 lbs turky feathers of Hardyman at 8cts a lb ploughing by the stack etc halled 2 or 3 lodes turnips to the house set out some for seed halled some leaves etc grubing etc etc etc etc |

Fair a pretty day I rode to Martha, & in my field on the sorrell colt Anna went to Depot the children had a party this evening Lucy came up Jimmy's burth day. [great grand father Jim redd was 3] I bated a hole in the river for fish [throw bait to attract fish to the area] Harriet went with Lucy home. Mr K Cobb came to borrow a plane - I hird frogs holler & ? & snipe grubing the new ground next to horkings creek etc. |

Hailed this evening Edward Purkins was married last night to a Miss Spicer Anna & Lucy came up a while to day Betty - Emily went home this morning - I made a wheel for little cart made a axle tree for cart I put a fish trap that Bob made sowed plant bed in the garden planted 2 kinds of peas & onion clover etc Bob ploughed a square in garden halled 2 or 3 lodes manure in the garden etc grubing Bob ploughing new grounding with 3 H plough burning brush etc. |

Fair a cool day clear I went by the island foard to bever dam Bro Allen & Fox preached Bro Fox & Noel & myself [There's still a Beaverdam Baptist church on Beaver Dam road] went to Bro Saml & dined Miss Dukes & the Gouldins were there Betty Redd went home with the Gouldins Edmond was quite sick yesterday We have had the coldest winter for a great many |
