Fair-mild the snow melted a good deel to day Mr Wm Terrell came to bring me some money brought me 13 hundred dollars I paid Wm Swann twenty three hundred dollars & gave my note for 3 hundred more got my deed of Anna & Wm & receibt in full Dr Anderson & Mrs Keen came over Dr Anderson went my security for 23 hundred dollars Mr Keen Mr Terrell Wm Swann dines -Molly Betty & Emily Goulden spint the day hear Mrs G came for Emmy - Mr Hackett went to the hireing at Cammels - negroes hired very high boys from 30 to 90 dollars Bob fixed a pen to beet out oats - & commenced halling wood at Mama,

Cdy day cold the win is at the south to night, it was at the south last night west in the morning looks like snow - put up rose this morning - Molly went to Anna to day Hackett put on a tung on Mas cart to day beeting out my oats etc Wm started to Amhurst Beetingout oats for my self

Cdy mild day I had a large poltice put on my foot it dook down the swelling etc bob hall wood for me grubing by stack ploughing for corn with 2 ploughs [rally?] at work ploughing ice house etc.

Buttler dined hear Sam & Clarence came with Llewellyn Mr Wm Noel came this evening - got 4 bls flour from the mill - fallowing by the stack & near the meadow grubing etc. Bob went for flour

Fair mild day Miss Henry Lucy & Sister Sarah came over to quilt Anna & Betty came in the evening Mr Martin came to see me about some timber & sash for the windows - for Edge Hill House - [2 story brick house from 1820, near Woodford in Caroline Co., VA] Roburt went to Boling green to carry a bag of cotton for Dr Gouldin fallowing next to Edge Hill commenced there at E.H. by the house for corn grubing etc etc etc etc etc

Cdy a small shower rain cool I rode over to Mama, carryed the children and went up to Edge Hill to look at some shoots [shoats] bought 6 for Mama for 10 dollars - I met Mr Harris I came from E H Bartlet cut his foot with an axe Ploughing by the spring at ivy hill grubing sent to mill for meal & halling wood etc.

Rainy morning quite a sleet - mild pretty evening I rode to Edge Hill the hogs rooted up my wheat a good deel by the barn the Talleys came to Mama, this evening all the girls & Mr Talley fencing by or below the out gate to enlarge my pasture for my sheep - - - one of my sheep died that I bought of Wm Swann - faning my wheat & baging it to send to Richmond halling rails & fencing etc.

Fair mild day a large frost smokey Mr Talley & family Mama, & Sister Sarah & Miss Henry came over to day & spent the day & to quilt - Edmond Taylor Redd came & spent the day [1831-1884] sent a lode wheat to Depot to go to Richmond - it weighed 2340 lbs finished my fence across the field below the out gate - ploughing & grubing etc.

Fair a large frost mild day Frogs hollowing to night, I rode to Mama twice to day Emily Talley rode out with me this evening.I sent Bob to look for leaches did not get any - using cold baths to my foot - my red wheat weighed 2690 lbs & white wheat 2470 lbs -- sent a lode of white wheat to Depot & one for Mama 10 bags 1122 lbs wheat my w weighed 5150 lbs

Fair warm day warm enough to keep the doors open & no fire till the evening Ann Spicer came for my young steers at 32 1/2 dollars to be paid when she sells her tobacco - Bro Saml came with my money from Richmond for the sale of Frank [115?] dollars one thousand & 45 dollars pd Mr Gouldin $5 for selling Paid Allen $21.50cts for saddle & $17.12 1/2 cts for Hackett & $1.87 1/2 cts for him for self Mr Talley came over this morning Ann & children came over this evening - Harriet went to scool with Llewellyn to day came back in play time Mr Southward killing his turkeys to send to Richmond - cousin Frances Tompkins sent for her steers by Spicer Martha had a boy between 10 & 11 ock Swann got back to day coaltering on the swamp by the spring grubing etc ploughing by my stackhalling wood etc etc etc etc

Fair very cold day John W Turner came by to day I offered to pay him his money he had no change Mama & Sister Sarah came over to day Betty Redd came to stay with Thomasia t night - sent last night for Linnaeus to see Thomasia she had a Daughter about 10 minutes after twelve oclock the 4th daughter - Mr Talley & girls went to Mr Gwatteneys K Wm Ploughing grubing etc killed 2 of my sows this evening -

Fair very cold indeed it snowed a little last night Ella came up to day & dined Miss Henry came weighed & cut out my hogs 2 old sow weighed 205 lbs 157 lbs 260 [sic] lbs in all killed a shote Betty Redd is staying with Thomasia cutting & halling wood & makeing fires & trying to keep warm all day etc.

Fair very cold night cold day Anna came over I offered her my land for sale a part of it - I rode to Edge Hill getting ice there saw Wm Swann Mr Gouldin Wm Harris & Sam Swann etc at Edge Hill Betty Redd is drying up lard etc Halled some straw down getting ice at E. Hill it is about 1/2 or 2 inches thick
