Fair very warm day scalled [scalded?] the house took up the carpets etc I got a large dish of potatoes to day had cymlings for dinner Bro Saml came by hear & Mama, looking for wheat cutters Wm Swann & Harris looking for hands
cutting wheat finished the guano wheat cutting down Mama wheat

Rain a very pretty rain I road to the mill saw a man with Books at the mill Finished cutting Mama, wheat part of caught out in the rain cutting my gully wheat by Anna, held on cutting Anna wheat Bro White James I died very suddenly

Fair most of the day very warm day I went to Bro Saml to carry a letter about July Ann, Molly came over with me to Mama, Dr McKinney came & brought sister Sarah, teeth I had a trade of horses with him gave Mama, for his Molly & Miss Henry came over this evening lent Lane my mule & plough to plough his corn

Fair warm day Betty Redd came over to go to Cty Line to temperance meeting we all went up had 3 or 4 speeches 2 by Buckner & Kean Wilkinson, spoke, Bro Saml came by Betty went with him home Mr Tally lost his youngest child with hooping coff sent 3 hands to Wm Swanns to cut wheat commenced after breakfast about 8 ock & 3 boys to pick up shocking up my wheat finished cutting in the morning back of the garden the gully wheat

Fair very warm day indeed I commenced halling my mammouth wheat up finished it & halling the gully wheat Molly came over & dined - Thomasia helping to make her frock Bro Harris came to Mama, to night we walked over to Mama, gave Brag a whiping for bighting [Jenny?] Fatty has at last commenced working his corn. General Taylor was taken sick to day [taylor had consumed raw fruit & iced milk at July 4th celebration, leading to intestinal ailment]

Fair most of the day thundered a good deel a few drops of rain Molly came over this morning I went to Carmel with Bro Harris Bro Phillips preached received Saml Estis in again, had been drinking Charles Gouldin came by & dined

Fair cool morning we went to Carmel Bro Phillips & Harris preached in the morning we came home after preaching walked over to Mama, cousin F. Tompkins Franky Woodson & Cousin Rubecrah are at Mama, Turner spoke tome about getting corn etc etc

Rain a tremendous one this evening I rode up to Wm Swanns to see him about sending for lemons & sugar for the diner & Jerico - I spoke for a wheat drum [drum peg thresher] to be made in the very best stil & timber etc I stoped at Mama, out of the rain Lewis went to Swanns with me - went to look at the corn by Canfields on the River Hackett went for sithe blade at Thackers Miss B Hill sent to know about getting hands to cut wheat Ella dined at Mama, ploughed the cotton at Mama & wed it ploughed my garden weeding it etc ploughing corn in black bottom

Fair most of the day I went to the Depot to get a pair of pants cut bought a pair of Allen for 4 dollars & a coat for $11.95cts cutting & all paid him for them paid my poastidge account 1 dollar carry a letter to Depot for Dandridge to send up some things for me & for the sons Lewis came over with Ma I went back to Mama, Mr T & Mr & Mrs Woodsons went over to Mr Gouldins--general taylor died today cutting oats by ice pond & on road set out some potatoe  plants

A few drops rain cdy a good part of the day - Molly came over & spent the day I worked over my water mellon patch had it ploughed I cut the grass in the yard Fatty turned out Mama, horses I went after them

Fair cool day cousin Franky Woodson & daughter cousin Francis Thompkins & Lewis & Molly spent the most of the day hear went over to Mama, this evening Thomasia & I gathered a tin of black berries I shot a lam this morning crippled an old sheep working my musk mellon patch cleaned out the spring - cutting oats finished by Ivy Hill cutting front of the house halling up my wheat put up a stack of the matthews sent to Mr Gs for Mama, cart wheel

Fair Wm S Talley & Charles Gouldins started to Dr Gouldins Lewis went to T Castle I went to the Depot for box lemons etc for Sons of Temperance I bought 2 dollars & 25cts worth cloth & buttons Molly sick & Mama, Thomasia made a cake for me to carry to Jerico, sent my mare toshop to have 2 shoes chainged sent John to shop I hird to day that General Taylor was dead. [died 9 July 1850] & John Harris J.H.T. halling up wheat for Ma finished mine put up a stack etc.

Fair we went to T Castle I went down to Jerico to the dinner & speaking at Mr Quarles, spring had several speaches one from T Smith & Linnaeus the best. came back home by T. Castle halling up wheat at Mama.

Fair very warm day we went to Cty Line Bro Allen preached all day meeting we came back walked over to Mama, this evening - I saw MacKenney at Cty Line asked after Sister Sarah, etc.

Rain finely warm and windy most of the day I worked over my water mellon patch around the roots etc Mr & Mrs Gouldin came to Mama, this morning I rode to the Mill with ? to look at my oats. Turned the cows in hear to day to graze
ploughint corn & peas weeding the potatoes& peas & cutting oats commenced by the mill this evening

Rain several showers very warm day I road to the mill cutting oats by the Mill Thomasia Lucy & the children went after huckle berries - I cut Harriet, hair paid Charles Gouldin for cutting wheat $1.50cts William Samuel wants to sell me his intrust in the Dower land Mama & Molly road out ploughing corn by water mellon patch & out gate cutting oats weeding potatoes peas etc. set out some potatoe slips etc.

Rain shower most of the day I went to John Turners to see about getting corn for Mama drove her horse John dined there I am to have 7 barrells corn at 15/ - a bl I went to Chester field Depot got a pair of pants of Allen cut them out Mama road out this morning ploughing corn by Anna, & corn house choping the corn etc weeding yard at my barn fence the stacks in

Rain Rain Rain all day long & a hard win from the northeast, cool evening I made a rake out of 6 nails H makeing rakes etc spent the day mosely in the house
grinding grass blades makeing rakes baskets etc etc

Fair windy west win Mr Hackett went to Wm Whittens to look for corn for Anna, & to Cobbs they ask 3 dollars & upwards Edmond came to day stayed a minute or so cutting grass by Canfields & my barn sent to Depot for lard & line cutting hay grubbing turnip patch ploughed Mama,

Fair warm day faned out some wheat & sent it to Mill for Mama 2 bu Mama Sister Sarah & Molly went to Providence to see the new house I went to look for Mama, cattle Molly came over this evening We walked over to Mama & to the pasture to look at the coalts.
cutting oats by the mill finished putting up hay ploughed an acre of land for turnips ploughed my cotton patch & potatoe patch at Mama etc etc

A small shower of rain this evening at T Castle we went to Carmel Bro Harris preached text Acts 3rd ct 22nd & 23 verses [Acts 3:22-23] a baptist sermon we dined at T C with Tom & Dr & John Ella is at E Andersons Barbara was at Carmel to day Molly went over home this evening -

Rain a good deel rained till the evening we went over to Bro Saml to meet with Barbara cousin Mary Ann Temple at Mama, I put my hogs in wheat field yesterday cutting  & malling rails beeting bones [for bone meal fertilizer?] makeing rakes etc patching hampers etc

Rain showery day we spent the day at Bro Saml, edmond went for Barbara in my Barouch she came up from Ed Andersons Tom came over in the evening went home after suppery very dank weather Bro Saml, wheat on little river [between North & South Anne rivers] is over-flowed with water went inan brought it out halling it up etc Lewis went to Dr Gouldins ploughing the corn brakeing out balks & weeding patches

A shower or two cdy till the evening fair evening we came home from Bro Saml in the evening Molly was sick with head ache - Bro Sam halling up his wheat ploughing the corn at Mama weeding the patches etc

Fair very warm day the warmest day we have had for some time Cousin Harden [Harden Pearce?] went from Mama, today to Taylorsville fixing to go for corn at Turners. Caught a hog for him going to swar [swear] it is one of bets pigs went to Mama, twice to day I fixed the cart board ploughing corn by graveyard & Bobs house weeding potatoes & cotton patch at Mama, ploughed the same

Rain this evening thundered a good deel Hackett & Bob came with 6 barrells of corn from John Turners 15/-a bl engaged at some time since Started to Turners last night after super - Sister Emily was at Mama, to day Jo the beagle slut had 5 puppies  has 3 now 2 dgs 1 slut. Ploughing corn weeding potatoes patch halled up my hay put up one stack shocked the ballance went commenced halling up my oats on main road halled 2 or 3 loads put them in the barn hear

Cdy day warm I budded some apple trees 24 to day went to Bro Saml saw Wm Dandridge paid him 2 dollars to pay for republican 1 for Thomasia & pd him Quarles 1.86 1/2 cts for work done last year carryed a pair pants to Miss Eliza Chiles to make Bro Sam & Tom & I went to Jerico lent Tom 75cts Mary & Lucy Gouldin came to Mama to stay some time Ploughing corn weeding etc

Rain a little this evening a good deel thunder & lightning seems tohave been a heavy rain about Bro Sams Sam Cornelius brought me some turnip seed to Mama, Llewellyn went to Carmel to Sundy scool we went to Cty Line Bro Allen preached I walked over to Mama, & Anna, this evening

Fair very warm day I went to look for Mama, cattle went by N Lucks for some apples looked at his water mellon patch, Anna Betty Emily & Thomasia & children went to Mr Lucks this evening, got some apples & water mellons to eat. Sister Emily sent for the girls to see Molly who is at her house - - raked over the turnip patch beet up my guano & ploughing corn choping etc etc sent Bob to Turners for shoat [young weaned hog]

A small shower to night I went to Bro Saml for turnip seed came by Linnaeus & Mr Gouildins brought him some turnip seed - I sowed my patch with guano & bones. put 350 lbs to an acre of land fenced it in halled some 3 or 4 loads of rails raked the seed etc. bob brought a shoat from Turners L Hill came to Anna, choping corn sowing turnips etc.
