Fair mild & very pretty day James Taylor Redd [1829-1898] & self went to the sale at Mr Hattons sowled my sorrel mair to Mr Sea $40. I paid Wm Swann $15 is part of my shop account & cow etc pd Wright my tacks for 1849. $10.58 1/2 cts Edmond & Lewis came over tonight Lewis went to Mama, Edmond & James spent the night or is to do it Peter had 1 gl molaces finished fallowing at the mill commenced in front of thehouse cuttng & malling halling etc.

Rain a showery evening I went down by Canfields to see the Huntsmen with Edmond & James I went to Carmel Bro Lowery spoke Bro Harris is sick Mama went down in my barouch I caught a hair raised it with  puppies gave bob a bowl molaces for working in shop part of a day X mas Mr Talley & Family came to mama, tonight Purkins came by to night going [above?] fallowing at mama, worked Betty Purkins to the plough this morning ploughs very well cutting & hacking wood & straw etc.

Fair Rained last night windy day cool James & I went to Carmel Bro Harriss preachedhe is very much complainging Bro fox spoke His wife had her leg broke a few days back A Negro man died at Land Dora to day Captain Bill is a little better to day J T Anderson is sick Thomasia & I went to Mama, this evening Mr T & girls walked as far as gate

Fair very cold day & night last I went to Mr Dukes paid him Jeffs hire and William fifteen each $30. Mr Talley & James came over this morning I went to look for my sheep byh the [ivy??] hill Mr Talley looked at my trees & agreed to bud one half for the other Linneaus came by to night and set a whikle sent Joh to Tates- commenced fencing by out gate to day malling & halling rails

Fair a very cold morning & night east cold day shot at a halk Mr. Talley came over & dined he got 3 lbs nails of me 18cts. for them made a box &put in 13 turkeys 2 ducks etc. Saw Bro Sam at Mama's turned loose a hair sent for my sheep brought them home from Mr Harris, fencing halling rails malling etc.

Fair very cold mornign & night last cdy evening  I sent to Depot a box fowls to go to Dandridge I fixed up my 2 gates raceed a hair to night etc James & Lewis went to Mr Harris coarting L.H. shelling corn fencing halling rails halled 3 or 4 loads manure to wheat patch ball-head etc.sent t mill

Fair mild day cool morning got a few loads of ice - Mr Talley came over to spend the night fencing finishing the pasture fence halling rails ploughing in the evening halling wood for mama

Fair mild day Mr Tally went to Mama, this morning & to Mr Gouldins this evenign I went to Canfields with James & Lewis pd him $15 for Mama for 6 barrells corn Edmond & Molly came over to Anna, James came over to day & set  a while - looked at plot of land etc. ploughing grave yard at Mama, for corn cleaned up the yard cut some seders [cedars] etc Peter halling wood sent to mill for 2 bls flour etc.

Rainy day & south east win beeting out oats halled 1 or 2 loads straw. beeting out oats etc etc

Fair windy I went to Cty Line Bro Darist preached Thomasia & I walked to Mama, this evening the girls walked over etc.

Fair cool day I went to the Boling Green pd Wood Wright $10.75cts for corn bought at Joh Hills sale pd Kasey bond of $0.30cts pd Man Anderson $5.50cts for 3 pair shoes pd Noel for trees $4.25cts pd him $9.20cts for scooling he pd $8.80cts for wheat bought in 1848. pd Wright 25cts spend 50cts the girls Ann emily Sister Sarah & Molly spent the day hear cutting & malling by the mill ploughing by grave yard etc etc

Fair pretty day Ann & Emily & children went to Mama, this morning Wm Day & Sons caught a fox to day ran him by the tree 4 times carryed him home alive in my bag sent to mill for meal & cotton seed cutting & malling by mill ploughing by Mama

Cdy most of the day mild & east win the Talleys went to Mr Gouldins this morning a dentist came to Mama to day Mr Kinsey Miss B & H Hill got back this evening from Scharlottsville ploughing cutting & malling by the mill commenced triming around the fence

Rain a very heavy one it commenced in the night rained till after breakfast I trimed up my apple trees etc Sister Sarah & Molly went to Mr Gouldins this evening sept [settled?] with Canfield in full. halling rails by the mill commenced fencing halled a load wood

Snowed a few flakes to day a cool windy day Thad & I trimed a row of 2 of apple trees in a field - halling rails by the mill & fencing finished the fence on the road to the mill - halling wood etc commenced malling again grubing etc.

Clear carcely a cloud to Mr Gouldins had hair cut Mr Gouldin & I had a settlement gave my bond for 60 dollars he took in his bond $21.56cts & $9 for a cow soald a year or two ago I went to Jerico a Mr Ivens joined I pd 25cts & Linnaeus 22 1/2 cts for barly - pd Tyler $10 for 2 pair boots got a pair of shoes for Thomasia had a speach from F Scott. 22 persons at Jerico Jas T Redd at Bro Saml, halling wood for mama malling burning brush etc

Fair most of the day clouding up for rain this evening Day & J Winston fox hunting to day did not start I went to mill sent for meal & cotton got 35 lbs cotton last years crop cotton I burried some apple sprouts cat heads etc on the gully by the stack malling by mill fallowing by w hill grubing etc burning brush etc etc

Fair cool win north w win windy day made a leavil to leavil land etc ploughing by the ivy hill for oats & brakeing out balks in corn field at mama, commenced ploughing by by Canfields for corn grubing malling etc.

Fair cool morning frost a pretty day Day came over and started a fox I saw him cross my field they caught him by Canfields dog fox Thomasia & I went to Mr Gouldins & spent the day left the carriage at the mill ploughing grubing & mallng by Canfields etc

Castle saw Mis Eliza Chiles went to Mr Buttlers for my wais coat black sasimer [cashmere??] charged 50 cts. went to Bro Saml James went down to Richmond to day Linnaeus & Mary went down Wm Swann spoke to me for 30 apple trees & 30 peach at 12 1/2 cts a piece - Canfield came to look for some meet that he says was stole ploughing grubing & halling wood burnted the meadow etc.

Cty till evening fair evening I went to the Depot & from there to Richmond to the laying of the corner stone of Washingnton monument saw General Taylor and about 20 or 30 thousand persons out. I dined at Mr. Dandridge & I spent the night pd Wm Dandridge $10.37 1/2 cts for things bought sugar salt cotton wool board & left 4 dollars with him to pay for the Republican I paid 1.87 1/2 for going and coming from Richmond. I paid Sturn 60 cts poastidge
ploughing, grubing etc etc. Mr Harrises  Bazzle died to day Blossom had a cow calf to day

Fair a very warm rain last night had shower a veryh pretty day hird a dove coo set a hen to day on 15 eggs I went to the scool house saw Mr Noele he says Bob Hackett is very sick Al Hackett went to see him I went to Mr ? Lucks for some apple tree grafts got 5 kinds I trimed up my apples trees & went to River by Jack hold cutting ploughing grubing burning brush halling wood etc. ploughing by out gate for corn etc.

Rainy evening showery day lightened a good deel to night I saw nearly 100 gees go by to the west Day & Butler wer Fox hunting did not start. saw Kemp Evans about swing slabs turned out my coalts to day put thum up to night ----N Quarles came with Llewellyn home ploughing in oats by ice pond rakeing etc sowed 4 1/2 bushels sowed some clover seed by ice pont & finished halled a load or 2 manure to peach orchard & cutting etc on the river ---
