Fair a cool morning I saw ice nearly 1/8 inch thick & it thundered & lightened towards the north to night I went hair hunting with puppys I caught 1 hair started 8 or 10, killed 2 B in Mt Airy near the River cut a load of brush or two & done up the mairs stable sent Anna, part of the corn made by Cobbs 6 bushels of shelled corn cutting down & halling up corn

Fair a large frost I sowed 3 bags guano weighing 478 lbs ploughed it in etc sowed 1 bushel & a half 1/2 gully wheat raked it in etc. I went to Mr Gouldins he cut my hair I spoke to him for the mill lot of land to sow inoats and to do up the fence etc I went to Jerico pd 15 cts to the ?? Martin Henry & James Tompkins joined to night shucking corn ploughing in g and rakeing in wheat etc. Hackett went to west field & got 1/2 bl corn 36 lbs beef of mama.

Fair a fine day we went to Cty Line to a temperance meeting had several speakers from different persons Mr Minor etc etc had a large dinner etc etc we went to T Castle in the evening ["Bro Sam  Mr Gouldin dined there Thomasia and I went to Carmel" - this phrase was lined out] Bro Harris preached Bro Walker Cobbs died this morning sowing guano 3 bags 312 lbs ploughed it in the land since wet sowed 1 bu & a peck of wheat dug one or 2 rows potatoes pulling potatoes

Fair mild Thomasia & I went to Carmel Bro Harris preached text John 15 ct 14th verse Bro Sam & Mr Gouldin dined & Molly at T.C. we came up home a Miss Pemberton was baptized to day & joined the church

Fair warm day I carryed a cow & 2 steers to Loweries sale. brought them back again Hackett went with mee to sale & Purkins I sowed a bag of guano & about 1/2 bushel gully wheat I road the dun H [dun horse] Mama Sister Sarah & Mary Eliza McGehee went to Dr Gouldins had my horse to draw the carriage

Fair warm day smokey halling manure from the kitchen on the road for the ball head wheat I have 2 qts mammoth wheat & about 1 1/2 gallons of ball head commenced ploughing in horse bottom for corn
ploughing in wet bottom Mr Harris came by & pd me 28 dollars & 25 cts owe me 50cts more I caught a hare Mr H pd 50cts halled 1 load leaves halling manure ploughing pulling corn on the road, shucking to night etc etc diging sweet potatoes etc etc

Fair warm I sowed 2 baskets guano & 2 qts mammoth wheat A& some hall head wheat finished sowing wheat finished halling the corn in the field in the road I went hunting killed 2 birds Swan sent for 2 planks for felloes?? caught a hair with pupeys shucking corn halled a load wood halling up corn ploughing for corn

Rained last night a little & a little this evening Thomasia & children went to W Swanns spent the day I carryed her up & brought her back again Edmond Redd killed my dog Fly with a rock finished shucking all the corn at the stack & put it up 15 barrells in the corn house & 6 barrells short corn [stalks under six feat] brought over the calf from mama, putting up the corn shucking etc

Cdy day I went down to the new ground & gathered all the corn & shucked it out Mama had her part of the shucks I killed a small beef this morning buffaloe calf Hackett went to west field to night. Fixed to kill hogs in the morning if cold enough halled a load or two wood etc etc finished shucking corn this evening

Fair cool Purkins came for his part of the corn he got rather over 6 barrells for his part made over 12 barrells at the new ground I halled a stack of straw to the barn Bob ploughing for corn etc. I killed 5 birds & a night halk plouging putting up corn halling straw etc etc

Sun 11th

Fair cool Thomasia & I went to Cty Line Bro Allen preached text Matthew 18 ct 34d 4th 5th 6th 7th & 8th [Mathew 18: 4-8] walked over to Anna I lanced Sylveys foot

Fair cool day I went to the Boling Green to coart paid Dick Bridges $1.00 for planter [word lined out] farmer Mama at home this evening commenced killing some of my hogs going to kill about 6 to night Hackett went to west field for a turn of corn got 1 bl in all commenced putting the corn stalks in the ground at the new ground

Fair a large frost I cut out 6 hogs this morning they weighed about 85 a piece I saw Miss B Hill killed her 4 birds for Miss Swann went to Mr Gouldins etc. Edmond Redd came over with Bro Sams horse I have been fixing all the evening to go to Richmond fixing the pole etc leathers sent Wm Swann 4 bu wheat at $1.25 cts a bu 2 gully 2 matthews sent to mill for meal & chop cutting down & burying corn stalks etc.

Fair warm most of the day Thomasia & Llewellyn & self & child went to Bro Sams got Mary Minor & went to Sister Sophis Redds [Edmond's daughter] Borrowed one of Bro Sams horses & W Swanns harness put 2 horses to Barouch sent Jeff & cart to hall leaves for Anna finished cutting down stalks at new ground & commenced ploughing

Fair we spent the night at Sister Sophia, Thomasia & I went to Mr Johnsons & looked at his trees etc etc spent the day at S Redd - finished ploughing at the new ground with 2 furrows Bob & Mr Hackett helped Anna to kill hogs & she sent Gloster to work in their places

Fr 16th
went to Richmond

Fair mild we went to Richmond & to Wm Dandridge I commenced trading spent the day in town gloster cutting for me in Jeffs place ploughing on the swamp & cutting down & halling up stalks Ihalled her a load wood etc etc

Sat 17th
Richmond

Cdy day we spent the day in Richmond nearly through with our trading Thomasia & I went to White Hurce [Whitehurst] to have our likeness taken it being so cloudy he failed to take it

Sun 18th
I went to the 1st church in Richmond

F Cdy most of the day - I went to the 1st church with Thomasia Molly & Wm Dandridge & Llwellyn Bro Taylor preached James T Redd went he dined at W Dandridges & with Lewis Redd spent the day in town

Fair I bought me a large gun from Tyler for 15 dollars on credit of a few months we came out to Sister Sophias I spent the night cutting & halling brush for shelter sent for plough to shop it was pointed & straped ploughing sent for a load rails for farm pen shelled a turn of corn new corn

Fair cool we started & came on home this morning left my over coat at Bro Sams to be sent to Miss Eliza Chiles to make etc I shot my big gun at a black 100 yards & hit the black I killed a hare with it etc washed it etc sent to Depot for things sent Bro Sams horse home & W Swanns harness home digging up dirt by Annas halled a loard
