Fair warm most of the day Mama sent 3 hands to help me plant cotton & corn etc. I planted cotton planting corn by Cobbs Raining at this time planted connon corn halled manure to cotton patch

Fair a fine rain last night halled 3 loads rails patched up the fence by gap on the way to the garden Robert & Jon malling rails till 11 ock I got 1 peck corn of Cobb
planting corn by Cobbs finished saw Bro Luck at L. Cobbs etc.

Fair I raked the potatoe patch & planted it in the seed potatoes 4 or 5 kinds Mama hands helping Robert & Joh Dab helped to manure the patch planting potatoes 3 1/2 bushels 2 patches one on swamp in orchard halled load manure to E. field

Fair very warm day Bob & Robert ploughing in the field on the road the field next to Mr Gouldins field Anne & Betty spent the night last night children had a party at scool - ploughing grubing & halling brush from fence in road Joh helping to grub etc.

Rain fine very cdy day got a letter from H. Ann Anderson [Thomasia's youngers sister Harriet Anne Anderson, 1819-1897] I bought a book of preaches he went to Cty Line to preach I went to Bro Saml to carry letter etc etc
I halled 2 loads manure to the garden planted 6 tomatoe plants & some cymbling seed [pattypan squash]
planted some peas etc had 1/2 bl corn from mill
ploughed for peas & commenced ploughing corn in the field on road Lucks kind of corn

Rain a little cdy most of the day planting corn finished on the main road planted the field in Lucks kind of corn rakeing ploughing planting corn etc.

Fair mild weather halling manure to corn field and putting it in the drills William & James Henry Terrell came with Llewellyn fire got away  in my Field put it out etc

Fair till evening a little shower to night I have been kwite poly [quite poorly] to day - made a coop for turkey - Kate had puppys to day 6 or 8 in all 3 dogs let Peter have 50cts for malling 3 hundred rails & 3 lbs sugar says I owe him 18 3/4cts owe 6 1/4 cts for sugar

Rain a very heavy one a good deal of win etc I spent the day at home poly most of the day Llewellyn came home from W Terrells Thad from cobbs Cate had 8 puppys S sluts [female dogs] etc 3 dogs had them yesterday

A light shower to night - Bro Saml came over to spay mamas hogs spayed 3 for me I walked to the new ground on main road halling manure & got 1/2 bl chop [chopped grain] halling manure putting it in hill & drill commenced planting corn on manured land in Burrus's corn

A shower last night a few drops rain to day - I set out a few tomatoe plants meeting at Cty Line finished planting corn in manured land ree planting ploughed pea patch rakeing cotton patch

Fair cool morning I commenced grubing the new ground to day with my hands & Mama's meeting going at Cty Line There are a good many to be baptized tomorrow - mules got away went off

Fair mild weather working on new ground sent to mill for meal & cho 1/2 lb each Sister Sarah & Lucy Redd [Lucy Ann Redd, his older sister, 1815-1878] came up to day Bob had 2 lbs sugar 1/- baptizing at Cty Line 4 baptized
grubing burning brush etc etc planting potatoes in the corn field

Fair warm we went to T Castle & to Carmel Bro Harris preached Bro Harris preached at Mama's funeral of Mary - we came up home this evening I pd Bartlett 25cts he is to work for me next Monday at 25cts by the day

Fair very warm day the Dr sent his Carry log [2-wheel horse-drawn cart] to move some logs out of new ground I cut down 5 pines halling rails Peter had 545 rails in the fence Joh has 184 Perkins 160 pd him Bob had 147 rails counted Joh McL Anderson [Thomasia's younger brother John McLaughlin Anderson, 1832-1881] came to spend the night
fencing the [worm?] is laid around the new ground & 1/2 of the fence is done etc. Sawing etc etc

Fair most of the day it thundered & lightning a good deal this evening a few drops rain Dr sent Elliott to mall rails Peter malled 72 rails last night Bob 168 got 1/2 bl meal & 1/2 bl chop from the mill finished cutting down the trees in new ground sawed 20 odd stocks halled 3 to the mill got carry log ? at back fencing grubing malling etc etc

Cdy most of the day I borrowed 3 pair sheep shers of Mr Harris halling wood etc off the new ground commenced ploughing with 2 single ploughs halling, ploughing, grubing etc burning brush

Rainy day. Mama's hands came over to shear sheep sheared 11 sheep sent a ram to Mr. Gouldins to swap - I patched up cutting box - Bob made some drawbars I put up a pair by the gate
sheared sheep made a pair of bars & brought Cates puppys to the bar

Rain a little cdy damp day we went to Bro Saml & I spent the day & night Mr. Alburt Hackett came back a day or two ago going back again to Charlottesville Thad is very sick at mamas Pd Bob 50cts for rails

Rainy day I came home in the morning Bartlett worked in the shop all day patched up my Baruch etc [barouche, a 4-wheeled vehicle with 2 double seats facing each other & a collapsible hood] ploughed etc etc done some work for Mama, I went back to Bro Sam, had a harty supper saw Linnaeus he went to see Thad - Jeff struck for Bartlett

Rainy a very heavy rain to day & yesterday I dined at Bro Sams came over this evening - left Thomasia at Hybla malling rails grubing etc the river is a little up - got 1/2 bl meal & chop from the mill

Cdy morning fair evening I sent to T Castle for a basket of plants cabbage - sent them out I went to T Castle & to Bro Saml - for Thomasia came home this evening river is up

Fair warm day commenced thining the corn in front of the house Lucy Redd [younger sister Lucy Ann Redd, 1797-1834] went to Mr Pleasants, I saw Mr Noell at school house a good rain last night Bob halled a lode rails to fence around this lot ploughing out back on corn field on the main road etc I let Canfield have ?? of coal to be returned
