Fair very warm day I made a coop put up a shelf in the closet Mr Noel came hear to day & dined wed [weed] over my watermellon patch - finished brakeing out balks [roughly squared timber beams] in the road this evening with 2 double ploughs ree planting corn by Cobbs - soaked the corn & soaked it in plaster etc. |

Fair warm I went to Carmel 6 to 7 persons there I gave 3 puppys away 2 to Mr Hackett 1 to Cobb - Lewis & Edward came here this evening sent to the mill for a turn chop & meal 1/2 bl each ploughing new ground and coaltering [coulter is a sharp blade or wheel attached to the beam of a plow, used to cut ground ahead of the plowshare] this evening - ree planting corn finished by Cobbs ree planrting the manured land |

Fair warm day I road to the river to look for Llewellyn he went over to Mr Gouldins with Thad Lewis came by - I pd Bartlett 50cts the ballance for work |

Fair very warm day I took off my flanel today went to Providence for a bushel of corn Burruss I made a coop wed [weeded] some tomatoe plants etc I put corn in soak to plant in the new ground plouging in new ground coalting etc ree planting corn halled 2 or 3 loads manure to sweet potato patch halling etc. |

Fair warm day I plastered my corn & commenced planting corn in
the new ground Bro Saml came to day Carried 4 puppy 3 for himself 1 for Viv
Jones - Molly came over to have a frock made sent Bro Sam's for 3 saccks salt |

Rain a pretty shower this evening I finished planting corn at the new ground We planted the manured land - had a plough pointed by Robinson commenced weeding corn throwing the dust from the corn & throwing {??} it back again - ?? etc chopping around the cotton etc. I set out 3 or 4 rows of sweet potatoe plants - Molly spent the day hear Mr Ivens came to see about a dog finished planting corn & commenced weeding etc. |

Rain a little this morning & evening cdy day Molly went home this evening [possibly Mollie Lou Gouldin, b. 1841] Edmund came for her Venkiner Cobbs came to let me know my shingles are ready. I planted watermellon seed I set out tomatoe plants & sweet potatoe plants etc To 1/2 bl meal & 1/2 bl chop Bob killed a lamb this morning malling rails ploughing in the swamp halling manure for sweet potatoe patch etc. |

for some calomiel [calomel: form of mercury] 2 beggers came this evening gave
them 7cts -- weeding Irish potatoes. Martin came hear to day - Llewellyn went
to the mill to wash got home very late |

Fair warm Thomasia is quite sick to day sent for the Dr he came this evening gave a dose of medicine Mama & Lucy Redd came over this evening - finished ploughing the corn in the field all to brakeing out ploughing cotton patch finished weeding potatoes in pach by corn house weeding cotton thining corn etc James K Poke died the other day with colra [Pres James K. Polk died 15 June 1849] |

Fair a very warm day the Dr came this evening to see Thomasia the colra is eazeing in Richmond Anna has 20 od [odd] chickens finished ploughing cotton patch & finished weeding ploughed sweet potatoes patch etc. Joh & Bob ploughing corn by ice pond diging the briars etc. before the ploughs I done up a plough for Mama & one for self lent mair to Purkins to go to Depot |

Fair warm day I went to W Swanns for potatoe plants got some of Mrs Swann set them out - Mrs Luck spend the day hear Thomasia is making a frock for her I cut 3 or4 bundles wheat the mamouth [kind of wheat] in garden had beets & potatoes for diner setting up wheat shacks cut a little ploughing choping bushes etc. cutting clover gave Peter 1/2 sowls [soles] etc. to 1/2 sowl my shoes |
