Cdy day I went to Carmel Bro Harris preached I brought a chane home from Mr Turned paid $4.00 to Swann for Bro Harris they took a subscription for a secston [sexton] house J. Hackett gave the land to the church I souled a quarter of beef to R to Dwannat 5 cts & sent it to him weighted 75 lbs - $3.70 Bro Sam Redd engaged a quarter & the same weighing 72 lbs $3.60 We went to T. Castle to spend the night went to Jerico Old Man Noel joined the division to night got a plough from shop pointed & straped ploughing cutting halling etc.

Rain Snow & Hail it commenced raining in the night before - the snow fell about on or 2 in in places melting a good deel we spent the day at T. Castle

Rain a little snow is melting a good deel we came up home to diner sent my cart wheal to Canfields to cut off the tire he cut it of cutting etc Bob cut out his shoes

Fair a large frost & a crust on the ground Hackett & I working on a cart wheal I drove all the spokes Bro Sam came for my Barouch to go to Richmond Harriet [his middle daughter Harriet Samuella Redd, 1844-1888] is going went to Bro Sams he carryed over his quarter of beef $3.60 etc. it comes to cutting & halling wood in Mama cart

Fair I went hunting joined with Gatewood Dudley & others caught a fox in mama, pasture. I finished the cart wheal & sent it to Canfields Mama has a bawl shoe thread Peter came for it ploughing halling wood rakeing leaves cutting etc

Fair cool there is a little snow about in places I commenced working on well wheal Bob went to Canfields to help put on my cart tire he put it on Martin came & got a piece of timber to make my cart axle wants to borrow the cart John Dickinson borrowed my gun last night & sent it home this morning - I went to the depot to send a bundle to Richmond spoke for bags etc the poast office is chainged to E. Burruss I patched my boat this morning fallowing grubing halled a load straw etc etc

Fair cold & wintry Martin came for my cart & steers I went up & stained an axle for horse cart Aron lengthen the bottom seames & made a few nails - sent for cart etc I killed 1 B Hackett carrying my boat & put it in the River He & Purkins got a ducking the Huntsmen started a fox lost him by T. Castle Louisa Terrell came to night to spend a day or two - ploughing grubing rakeing leaves etc etc

Rain till evening Harris came home to night Bro Sam & Sister Sarah [Sarah Taylor Redd, 1808-1886] came to Mama, Wm S Talley came to Mama, he came over home with me to spend the night caught an owl and he got away on the swamp

Fair had a snow last night the most of it melted a very cold windy day. I went to John Hacketts & had a swap with him for a buffalo steer swaped back am to get $3.00 to boot. I killed 4 birds at 1 shoot Wm Talley went by the bridge the river is up

Fair very cold night last cold day I finished the well wheal & charged 50cts for it I went to M Lucks to see some corn belonging Tom & Old Man engaged it for $2.25cts a barrell Anna, Betty & Louisa, are hear Mr Noel broke up his scool to day sent 24 bushels of wheat to mill sent the Buffaloe cow to Dr Andersons to winter cutting & halling wood cutting & halling wood burning brush etc etc

Snowy evening Hackett & I went to Bro Sams for my coalt brought him over & my coalt from mama,s - Louisa Terrell is quite sick to day confined to her bed & I gathered all the corn in the new garden mama & Anna killed all there hogs sent tomill for meal 1/2 bl cutting on the stream in the pasture halling leaves Bob went to help mama, hands to kill her hogs halleed a load or 2 of wood

Cdy day I went after the turkeys saw 2 shoped 2 caps at one Hackett shot at one he & I went to Carmel to the turnout had 3 speaches one from Bro Smith Tom 1 from Bro Wood & the other from Linnaeus - very few persons on account of the bad weather the speakers gave out coming from Richmond on account of the bad day & an owl came last night & killed a ginney [guinea] set a trap for him cutting & halling wood sent to mill for bl flour brought horse cart home

Fair a cool day Hackett & I went to Crutchfields mill after turkeys saw a few tracks dog started one I killed a small halk Mr Hill and I went to look at some oats of J Dickinsons Peter has a ball shoe thread 6 1/4cts Dr Commenced a stable for coalts a sale at R Cobbs cutting & halling wood etc

Fair mild finished the coalt shelter made a troft [trough] for it etc halled 2 loads leaves to chink the stable halled 1 load to barn mending the road by the gate halled a lode logs by the barn & put them in gully Mr Hill wants to buy a pen [pound?] of chop offered 2 dollars asked him 3 - laid off a ice house on my land by Dabs house cutting wood halling brush mending road making stable etc. shelling corn halling brush & leaves rails etc

Hacket went to Linnaeus to have a tooth puled & finished the fence around the colt shelter & put thm in lent aThad my Cap [?] to go to Dr Gouldins Charles Betty & Emy went to the Dr. lent 80 cts to Charles Gouldin Paid Purkins 60 cts for money borroweed of him. Cut his hair. cutting & halling wood

Rainy a very heavy rain it commenced last night & rained till 10 or 12 oclock cool & windy evening I went to W Swanns & turned a horn bottum went to see Mr Wiltcher to by a cow. The river is very full. Hackett came home this evening from West Field an owl came last night after the fowls etc cutting wood short for the house

Fair most of the day I went to Landora to try to get a cow from there to Mrs Lucks to Miss Swanns bought one of Wm Swann gave him 13 1/2 dollars brought her home her name is Kate got a note of Purkins for 25 dollars the difference in horses halling wood straw sent to mill for flour brought a barrell & meal etc etc

Cdy rained a little & snowed a few drops a very large frost the Dr Darriotts House was burnt down last night & this morning to ashes I went to the sale at Garriet Lowerys sould all of the negroes & land etc there were several fights in the evening

Snow fell last night about 6 or 6 inches deep & drifted in places very cold day I started to Hatches to the hering [hearing?] came back Jeff is hired to Lowery went to Jerico saw Mr Quarles Pete & John & John Hackett tryed tohire a hand but failed doing so short corn to mill for chop
