W 1st
leather harness

Fair rained a little last night I went to Mama, & to Mr Gouldins after Fleming fixing a bed stid for Anna I got a side of leather from depot harness Jeff halling rails from the mill for Anna ploughing weeding corn etc.

Fair cool nights & mornings Fleming came to work worked one day on my harness old gloster came to weed corn about 11 ock sent 2 hands to Cobbs sent them back. moved cow pin & ploughed up for turnips sent to T C or Mr Vass for turnip seed could not get any Robinson done up a plough last night ploughing weeding corn etc

Fair a fast day appointed by the president [day of prayer in midst of cholera epidemic, Pres. Zachary Taylor] I helped Fleming to make my harness I went to Providence to meet with Matthews & 2 commenced shinglin the Dr's house at Providence To 1/2 bl meal ploughing weeding corn etc

Fair till evening a drop or two of rain in evening we went to Carmel Bro Harris preached the suns [sons] of Temperance met there to day several persons joined the Temperance Societyh Bro Sam joined the Sons had 3 speaches on temperance by Duke one by F Smith the other by Dr Kean Fleming fininished the harness pd him for the shoe thread 12 1/2 cts ploughing brakeing out balks weeding corn etc

Fair most of the day a few drops rain this evening we went to T Castle & to Carmel Bro Harris preached text Romans Vot 11th verse [Romans 5:11] he dined at T Castle went to preach old sister Jones's funeral. W. Terrell & family spent the night there went home this evening - I pd 12 1/2 cts to Bro Lowery for sociation ??

M 6th

Rain a small shower very warm day I went to S Gouldins to see him about his bull Canfield came to see about his hog had one killed for him L Purkins & Dickinson caught 2 of his women that ran away I put the irons on bed stid for Anna

Fair warm day Canfield came after breakfast to work on my Barouch cut the tire on2 wheals etc etc Aunt Emily Worrall came up to mamas James Coalman came by my shop to day finished ploughing the corn by Cobbs sent for shingles on Cobbs land 2 thousand choping corn etc etc

Rain to night fair day very warm day I went to Chiles Burg to look for Tate he promised to send a hand down Friday - John McL Anderson came to night I commenced Bro Addam s, wheals this evening commenced following for wheat by my meadow finished ploughing pea patch choping corn etc.

Rain a light shower Louisa Gouldin [Louis Eveline Redd Gouldin, 1817-1896] & 3 children came up & Frank Gouldin [James Franklin Gouldin? 1829-1897, brother-in-law] he went to Simons I finished Anna, bed stid working on wheals a little I put Sally in pasture fallowing halled rails for cow pen & made it ploughed the turnip patch sowed 1/2 of it choping corn etc etc

Jones to 1 days work

Fair had a shower last night Jones came to work on my barn shed worked one day sent tomill halled 2 loads planks halled some rocks put down the sleapers commenced laying the floor ploughing for wheat by the barn grubing etc etc

Fair warm Jones & I worked on the shed floor nearly finished it Jones went home after dinner we went to Bro Sams in the evening sent to mill for meal got 1 bl fallowing coaltering grubing sent to mill for plank

Fair I went to St Lukes to Bever Dam with Thomasia to meeting came home from Bro Sams this evening

Fair Bro Sam came by got his breakfast with Mr Harris we went to coart Bro Sam & I authorizsed Mr harris to get Mr Wharton to get 2 times guano at 45 or $50 $ Bob coaltering for wheat grubing weeding or choping corn finished all that I intend choping

Rain a light shower very cool evening north win this evening Biron Jones came to work on my shed we worked on it the day - coaltoring grubing etc W Robinson working for mama pointed a plough for m

Fair cool morning very dry Mr Jones worked to day on shed we made 2 doors & seeled up the logs - Mr Harris came by he is to have 30 bushels of wheat at $1.15 cts a bushel I went Bro Sams for his money gave me 45 dollars to send for guano a turn following grubing etc.

Fair warm day I went to John Hacketts to borrow some money got $75 $5 for Bro Sam We went to Carmel Bro Riland preached text Luke 23 ct = 42 & 43 vers. [Luke 23: 42-43] I went to Mr Harrises & carried him $100 to lay out in guano Dr Anderson sent for 2 turns fallowing grubing etc.

Fair we went to Bro Sams spent the day Thomasia went to set up & wate on Mrs McLaughlin she had a fall & put hip out of joint cutting hay grubbin cleaning up the yard at the barn etc

Rain a very heavy shower a good deel win the river is past foarding at the mill etc I came over home & went back in the evening crossed at the island foard got my feet wet etc caryed over Cate dog. cutting rail timber putting rails on fence setting up corn etc etc

Shower I went to Carmel no preaching I saw Frank at meeting went to Hybla some one puled a water mellon for me

$1.00 to B Jones

Fair warm day I started from Bro Sams went back for house key I paid Biron Jones for 2 days work on shed $1.00 saw Dr. Gouldin at Mamas went to Bro Sams in the evening fallowing grubing etc

sowed turnips seed
Mrs Dandridge came up to TC

Rain a shower I sowed a turnip patch for Bro Sam finished sowing mine he gave me seed ploughed my turnip seed in I have been working on Bro Addams wheals commenced rounding the spokes Thomasia & children came home came by T Castle Barbara came up this morning fallowing grubing etc etc

Fair very warm day I worked on the wheals rounding spokes went to see Mr Noel about not etc sent 2 ploughs to Swanns shop pointed one I pulled 8 or 9 watermellons fallowing grubing sent shop etc.

American Farmer

A small shower rain Mr Hill Miss Mary & Seeper came this morning cut a parcel of water mellons for them. I got 2 volliams of the 'American Faarmer' I drove one of the hubs 2 logs in the cornfield fallowing grubbing etc.

Leather

Fair. England brought up my leather, he charges $1.00 for taning a small sheep skin. I patched up the floor of the wheat room & made a rake etc. fallowing by Dabs old house used to be grubing cleaning the yard at barn etc etc

Fair we went to T Castle saw Mrs. Dandridge & to Bro Sams spent the evening ploughing grubing etc

Fair spent the day at Hybla

Fair I came home Molly went to Mt Airy I went to Nelson Cobbs - pd him $6.37 1/2cts for corn bought some time ago went to W Terrells pd him 85 cts the ballance due him for planks bought 10 barrels corn off him 5 for Bro Sam 5 for self pd him $2. + 37 1/2cts a barrell went to Bro Sams the machine got to my barn to night cutting in the swamp grubing

Fair.i came home with family got out Anna wheat commenced mine got out the gully wheat & part of the Matthews thrashing wheat

A few drops rain getting out my wheat got out all but the Mammoth the machine went to Mamas had 3 hands from Mt Airy some of Anna Miss Leeper went home Bro Addams came to see about his wheals = Mr Dandridge came this evening & Tom & Mrs. D this morning. getting out wheat

Fair warm day I carryed my mammoth wheat to Mamas & ran it through the machine - fand it out once made 6 bushels from one gallon I made a yoke for old buck cows all been in my cornfield to day. W Dandridge & wife spent the day hear. Ella rode up this evening went back again

Rain a very heavy rain this evening still raining washing rain Mr & Mrs Dandridge went to T Castle this morning Llewellyn went to T Castle with John - I got wet at the barn faning out wheat put away the straw from mamas fencing around corn field & straw stacks Canfield came to let me know my horses got in his field
halling rails fencing etc etc commenced faning durty wheat
