Fair set out some sweet potatoes finished cutting – wheat comenced halling the Mederteranean wheat to the barn packing it in I cut 75 heads of wheat the red shuck large kind. – John has the measles -

2nd Fr

Fair finished halling up my wheat 9 loads to day -

3rd Sat

Fair most of the day, a shower or two about Carmel – we went to T. Castle I went to Carmel Bro Harris preached we came up home this evening Linnaeus dined at T Castle Miss B Hill & Mr Temple came in the evening making some beds by the Barn for sweet potatoes halled up my rye & put it under the shelter

Fair I went to Carmel carryed Ann & Lucy to meeting Bro Harris preached gave notice of a protracted meeting - -

Fair cool morning warm day I went to T Castle & to Mrs Butlers to have a coat made Tom brought the cloth from Richmond. thined over my cotton ploughed the potatoe patch in the garden weeding them etc ploughing corn by smiths shop

6th Tus

Fair scalled [scalded? cleaned floors with scalding water?] the house to day I sowed some turnip seed in the garden red top, ploughing the corn by the barn weeding potatoes by the house or in the garden sent to mill for meal sent wheat to mill

7th W

Fair warm I went to Mr Keans had a promise of some money Received 39$ of Bro Sam my part of the carrage money ploughing corn by the barn finished weeding the potatoes in the garden weeding in the new garden butter beens etc sowed some turnip seed in the garden

8th Th

Fair warm we went to Mama, & dined I rode to the mill sent for the flour weeding corn by the old ice pond Bob & john ploughing the corn I made a duck pen got a plough from shop point beet out & strap.

9th Fr

Rainy day a very heavy one it comenced last night – halled 2 loads rails for cow pen moved the cow pen & coaltering it commenced – set out some potatoes by the barn & in corn field set out a few apple trees in the orchard

10th Sat

Rain a hard rain the lightning struck a locust tree close to the house a considerable shock to us all = = ploughed a turnip patch & sowed it with 3 or 4 kinds cutting oats setting out potatoes Irish in the garden

Rain a tremendous one – a hard rain last night – Dr Anderson came by to day Troubadour died to day – he was poisened I think - -

Rain shower this evening I done a little switching about dog - - - - setting out Irish potatoes in the garden – cutting oats by watermellon patch

Fair warm day ploughed my watermellon patch & wed it over cutting – oats wed the yard at the barn weeding peach trees.

Fair warm we went to Anna, & dined – cutting oats commenced cutting oats on the road Robert came this evening to cut oats - - wed my peach trees etc etc

15th Th

Fair smokey day cool morning Bob & Robert cutting oats - - - - - - - - - - I went to T. Castle & to Mr Buttlers paid for corn & coat went by Bro Sam' & Lins

Fair cool morning & nights Thomasia & I went to W Swann, this evening lent Canfield my mule to plough his corn – cutting oats comenced by Canfields. .

17th Sat

Fair foggy morning – ploughing & working the cotton, cutting oats Thad picking up Thomasia Llewellyn & I went to Nelson Cobbs to funeral of John S. Cobbs

Fair warm we went to Carmel Bro Harris preached we went by T. Castle & dined

Fair warm I commenced halling up my black oats 2 loads – cutting oats wed over the sweet potatoe patch by the barn Canfields cattle got in my corn field

Fair day Rain commenced to night thunders & lightening cutting oats Roburt helping finished the field by Dabs house lent Canfield my mule part of 3 days

21st W

Fair had a small shower last night Thomasia & I went to Bro Sam, after. Miss H Anderson – & dined there cutting oats by ice pond -

22nd Th

Fair warm I went to Mr Gouldins & to Bro Sams for bunch of keys I sowled Anna a calf for 3 dollars finished cutting oats to – night shelling corn etc

23rd Fr

Cdy most of the day halling up oats halled 7 loads put them in the barns – Anna got her calf this evening Winston came to see a calf. offered 4$.

24th Sat

Fair very warm day sent to mill for meal & ploughed the cotton & sweet potatoe patch & a few rows of Irish potatoes. ploughing the corn by the meadow on the rode weeding cotton & potatoes etc

25th Sun

Shower this evening I went to Cty Line with Miss H A & Llewellyn – Bro Phillips preached.

Rain in the evening a good one Mr Kean came & stayed all night pd me 60$. gave his bond for 25$ - ploughing corn hilling potatoes halled up 2 loads of oats went to mill carryed a cow brought up a load of slabs etc

Rainy morning fair the ballance of the day Fair cool day had a good rain last night and a little this morning shelling corn ploughing corn weeding or choping the bushes etc I went to Depot bought a coat ["had it" lined through] pd the poastige on mothers jurnal for 3 years -

Fair cool day we have fires morning & night ploughing corn & buck wheat patch weeding corn by Anna, finished the sweet potatoe patch I carryed a handle to mill to mend

Fair cool I sowed 1 peck of buck wheat & fallowed the ballance of the ground etc weeding corn finished halling the oats this evening & stacked them under the shed sent to mill for meal & 1 bushel of wheat ground into flour got it of Mr Gouldin Winston bought a calf to day of me at 4$ I mended Miss B Hills brace to day

Cdy most of the day Mr Harris got out Mama, wheat carryed the mashine to my barn & planted it my hands helped about Mama, wheat. sent to T Castle to try to get some hands Dr Gouldin & family came to Mama, to day he lost Franssis about one weack ago

Fair warm I got out my wheat & rye got 8 hands from T Castle boys - - - - finished my wheat about 3 ock – I sowed 1/2 bu buck wheat weding corn by Anna, gave Bob 50 cts
