Rainy day I spent the day at T. Castle

Rain a hard rain We came up home in the evening Bro Harris spent the night hear {Sister Sarah Ann & Emily Talley went to Dr Gouldins shucking corn making baskets etc etc

3rd Tus

Cdy most of the day I went to Chester-field the sale bought 2 hogs. 2 pick axes & hammer for 45 cts 10 cts for churn bought one hog for $2.75 cts- shucking corn - - - - -

Cdy cool moved the cow pens shucking corn & halled a load of wood

5th Th

["cdy" lined through] Rain a little in the evening I went to T. Castle for the Dr. Ben helping to put away Mama corn etc Linnaeus came up

6th Fr

Rainy day getting wood Ben went to Cobbs for a load of planks for Lin Linnaeus spent the night Thomasia had a sun last night 1/2 past 11 ock [John Robinson Redd, 1846 – 1920] Mama came over & spent the night Canfield borrowed 1/2 lbs salts.

Rainy day shelling corn sent to mill getting wood etc

8th Sun

Rain a little cdy day spent the day at home got some apples by the new garden -

Fair very warm most of the day I sent for Lin this morning to see Thomasia - & for the Dr to night. cutting down corn picking up etc I made 2 traps cleaned out the spring etc Dr Linnaeus came up. Jack cut out thads shoes & half sowls for my shoes -

Fair warm. I plastered around the chimneys finished hhalling ["a round" lined through] the corn up shucking etc I pd Miss B Hill 2 $ 50. cts on Luckys account - - -

Fair I carryed Mrs Dandridge to the rail rode & went to Bro Saml sent to mill sent 2 ploughs & a turn of corn shucking – corn hall a load of wood etc

Cdy most of the day finished shucking corn & haused about 14 bls this evening borrowed Mama, cart put in a gate post & brought over my gate from the shop got my bags from the depot. Miss James came to stay with Thomasia a while made 37 bls long corn in all and about 12 bls short or nubins now keep a sparing hand on it. -

13th Fr

Cdy Commenced ploughing for corn by the barn Bs. shop sent to mill finished putting in gate post by the orchard sent Thad to T C for Dr to see Miss H. Anderson to open her jar [jaw?] I shot at a turkey this evening in Canfields

Cdy cool a small shower last night I went hunting killed a turkey & 2 birds in Mt Airy fallowing halling wood slabs rafters etc picking out cotton etc etc

Cdy I went to Carmel Bro Harris preached text Romans 13 ct 11 verse W Swann & wife and Mr Gouldin dined hear to day.

Fair mild I got 2 stocks up the swamp for rafters halled 2 to the mill brought a lode of slabs – home thad went to T. Castle to – carry a letter fallowing etc etc

Fair mild halled a log to the mill faned out 15 bu wheat – listing the meadow etc etc etc brought up a lode of slabs from mill

Fair mild I sent 15 bushels wheat to the Depot by measure ploughing the meadow and picking out cotton & I killed 4 birds & a squirl - - - - -

19th Th

Rainy day ploughing grubing halled a lode of wood Tom came up & spent the night I went to Mama, & put in some glass -

Fair I killed a mutton Tom broke Dr, buggy – ploughing grubing picking out cotton etc listing by Dabs house - - -

Fair mild I went hinting in hanover with Wm S Talley thad & John T. I killed 5 birds caught 1 hair Ben went to W Swanns for a hog went to mill halled 2 loads wood listing by Dabs house

Cdy a drop or 2 of rain I went to Cty Line Bro Powel preached DR & wife were there

Fair cool working on the cow shelter halling poles etc ploughing by Anna, Edmond brought over damon for me to keep rakeing leaves

Fair I went over to Mr Hewletts for a side leather marked 2 $ - - got cloth from Bro Saml ploughing put away my greens halling wood etc - - - sent my ploughs to mill I killed a beef to day

Rain commenced last night rained all night working on cow shelter fencing etc covered the greens cut out beef & saltered it.

Fair very cold day a west wind cutting pines & finished the cow shelter put the cows under shelter to night sent to Mt Airy for vinigar shelling corn to night

Fair very cold morning the weather is moderated a good del working on the cow shelter & lane sent corn & 5 bushels wheat to mill brought up a lode slabs cutting brush etc rakeing leaves - -

28th Sat

Fair moderate weather finished the cow shelter halled a lode of pines etc sent to mill for flower halled a lode of wood fallowing for corn. . . . . . .

29th Sun

Fair mild I spent the day at home . . . . . .

Fair halled 2 lodes of wood some light wood – fixing to kill my hogs – listing the meadow I went to T. Castle to see about some drove hogs. . - - I saw the hogs on the way to T. Castle
