Cdy commenced raining at night I went to Taylors Ville to the hireing bought a cow for 13 $ and 15 cts a mountain cow paid the money cutting by the stack -

Fair windy & warm Thomasia went to Mount Airy going to spend the night – I went to the mill malling rails grubing put a stack of oats in the barn

Fair mild weather I went to Carmel Bro Harris Preached a good sermond Thomasia came home this morning Ben & Bob went to Taylors Ville for my cow & calf I ground the cutting knives gave 25 cts to the church to day and calf

Fair mild we went to Castle T & I to Carmel Bro Harris preached Text Third Epistle of John 8th ver we came home this evening

F. cool morning Simon & I went to Joneses to the hireing & have come by Fulsturs mill malling rails grubing etc shelled corn

6th Tus

Rainy day sent corn to the mill brought 8 planks & chop etc faned out my oats 24 bu in all 24 bu mild day

Foggy morning fair evening mild weather I made a t trough for Blossum & a rake for Thad – rakeing leaves Thad helping

Fair mild I went to Mr Coalmans & to John hacketts to hire some boys rakeing leaves Thad & Ben halled 5 loads

Cdy mild Mr Gouldin came over to have a sebttlement he still ows me 18 dollars & 58 cts – malling rails wood etc – burning brush etc (commenced snowing at night & snowed very fast trill midnight

10th Sat

Snowed last night about 3 inches deep - - - - Fair we went to Bro Saml & spent the night hall wood straw & a load of planks from Dabs house - - - -

11th Sun

Fair cool wind etc Mr Nowel came to Bro Saml this evening we came home

Fair cool day I went to the B. Green collected Franks hire $124.38 cts. pd A Dick 35 $ for hire of Horses & Allen 22$ 75 cts for Vinkner. sent 5$ to Richmond for Thomasia taxes 15$ 50 cts for bills etc etc $2.50 halled a load of planks from Dabs house malling grubing etc sent 5 $ to Dandridge for Thomasia Franks hire 124$ 38cts

13th Tus

Fair cool. I went to T Castle for the Dr to see Mary E. Redd & to S Cobbs to see Mr Lane's calf & over the River to Lanes Dr A came to see Molly malling grubing

Fair cold morning a south wind I swaped cows with Mr Lane He is to give 1 dollar to boot I got my calf from home this evening – from Cobbs made a troft. - - malling grubing etc Peter had 87 1/2 cts of leather of me this evening Thad had a pair half soles

Fair I went to the sale at Hudson I bought a Cow gave 7 $ and a quarter sent for her did not get her I pade $1.11 cts for Mr Vass malling grubing etc

Rainy evening I went for my Cow & brought her home (Cherry is her name) halled straw wood etc shelled corn to night Thomasia went to Mt Airy to fix the cloth.

Rainy evening Mr Lane came for his cow to day Dr Anderson came to see Molly – turned out Livy in the stack – grubing halling wood sent to mill for corn meal sent corn for chop

18th Sun

Fair & cold a north wind, we went to T. Castle I went to Carmel Bro Harris preached Text Psalms 51st 12 & 13 verses came home Dr Anderson gave me E.C. Taylors deed

4 fish Fair cold day halled 2 logs to the mill brought 2 loads of planks back – burning brush I burnt the field for oats – caught 4 fish in the net

20th Tus

Snow comenced about 3 ock & still snowing about 6 inches deep I went to Mrs Cotes hired a boy for 10$. getting ice burning brush etc

Rain Fine a sleet the snow fel six & 1/2 inches striping tobacco etc I made a pair of steps -

Fair mild weather I caught a pike I sowled 6 turkeys & 4 ducks 50 cts for turkeys 18 3/4 for ducks striping tobacco halling wood I made a calf pen under the shelter Sal died

23rd Fr

6 larks 19 x 6 aH1P. Fair very cool morning I shot 6 larks cut down a sedar tree for stakes for the garden finished striping tobacco halling wood shelling corn etc

24th Sat

Fair very cold morning & night (last.) sent to mill for meal & chop sent corn for chop etc halling wood Bob went to see his wife killed 19 larks & 6 sparrows

25th Sun

Fair a south wind the snow melted a great deel to day. I went to Cty Line Bro Smith & Davist red & spoke & prayed dined at Mama,

Fair very mild getting ice malling etc I caught a hare & a opossum made a fence around the swamp for the cattle to drink

Cdy I went to Mrs Coats, to see about my negro - - - halling straw & hay all day & a load of leaves grubing etc

Fair mile I worked my mules to the cart halling wood & rocks for shop chimney - - Mr Trainham commenced the shop chimney Mama, hands are helping to work John & Martin came home to day - - ewe had a lamb that died Male

Cdy Mr Trainham working on the chimney, halled dirt & rock etc to day cleaned off a plant bed grubing halling wood to burn the plant bed

30th Fr

Rain in the evening I burnt a plant bed & sowed it halled wood for it Mama gave me cabbage seed to sow next to Cobbs for 200 bricks gave $1.00 for them. Mr Trainham runing up the chimney caught 1 fish

31st Sat

Fair mild I went to Carmel Bro Wit preached - - came home to dinner & went to T Castle at night halling wood grubing etc covered a plant bed etc Trainham patched the plastering in this house
