Cdy & cold a very cold night last I went to Carmel Bro H preached Text Revelation 2nd Ct last part of the 10th verse cuting halling fodder straw & hay sent to mill for chop & timber rakeing leaves etc etc etc turned out Miss Quarles & Mrs Hitchison

(F. Clear & Cold I went to Carmel Bro Harris preached Text Matthew 28th Ct 6 verse S Gouldin dined hear to day

Fair Cdy evening cold morning cutting by ice pond getting ice commenced with Mama, cart etc about 12 ock

4th Tus

Snow rain snow commenced snowing last night snowed from one to two inches melted a good deel Canfield & I had a sebttlement today cold day halling wood etc

Cdy & a snow a little very cold indeed a west wind – cutting wood halled a lode of straw & one to the stack for my cattle Bro Hacket pd me 25 cts for 2 1/2 lbs shot at ice pond. commenced a gate in the barn

ST. sale

Fair & cold west wind I went to Sam Terrells to the sale bout cross ct saw for $2.25 cts 2 steel traps 37 1/2 cts chane 50 cts bought loon [loom] for Anna $4.40 cts getting ice halling with 2 carts

7th Fr

Fair the weather is moderated a good deel this evening I went to L. Terrells bought some [hama?], & a pot 75 for all brought home my saw & traps Finished the ice covered it over

8th Sat

Snow a little in the morning fair evening cold I went to L Terrells bought his crop of wheat for 3$ & 50 cts 25 cts for ashes Received of L Terrell $129.65 cts in full I took & account on Bro Saml for $3.71 cts went to T Castle dined there halled 2 lodes wood & 1 straw & hay sent to the mill brought a lode laths etc cutting

Fair rather more pleasant to day looks like snow this evening – Churchill came up & brought up a piece of bacon -

Fair pleasant evening – I rode down to the mill to get a file to whet a saw I rote a letter to W Dandridge halling wood cutting rakeing leaves etc halled a lode of fodder & straw from the barn

boar got out

Fair & mild I went to Goldans ville bought 2 files & a spoke [stave?] $1.13 cts $1.13 cts pd for them came by Walker Terrells to look at his trees I carryed my saw to the mill to have it gumbed but brought it back home, [gumming involved grinding the gullet of the tooth to a particular shape] halled a log to mill brought up chop cutting rakeing leaves dug the holes for stable

Fair & warm whetting X [cross] saw put up the frame of stable Molly brought a almanack to day – ploughing by the house cutting – takeing broom straw out of the meddow

13th Th

Cdy part of the day threten rain About the stable. railing it up & craming it with leaves ploughing finished by the gate halling rails for stable – 3 lodes of leaves diging out the straw out of meddow N Luck brought his sow to go to my boat soled 4 turkeys for $2.00

14th Fr

Rainy day fine a sleat I caught a mink in steel trap wheting saw etc halling leaves 4 lodes lode of straw Canfield came for his vice. about the stable – putting up the rales etc

15th Sat

Rainy day thunder & lighten finished raming the stable covered it over halled a lode of stalks 1 or 2 of pine leaves sent 2 turkeys to the Castle brought up 2 & moal board 1 bu clover seed etc

16th Sun

Cdy cool we went to Mt Carmel. Bro Lowery red a ct etc We went to T Castle came back this evening

17th M

Fair & calm day I sowed some clover seed commenced on the pumpkin patch & sowed to the first posimon tree – sent corn to mill for chop etc grubing by pumpkin patch Thomasia & the children went to sister Swann,s & spent the day

18th Tus
Tomatoe

Fair d fine day I sowed clover seed by cherry tree & on below new ground etc ploughing went to new ground by Cobs this evening – grubing halled a lode fodder 2 of leaves plastered tomatoe seed wheting saw Edmond T Redd came over & dined hear to day 

19th W

Birds - - Fair mild I saw a great many pigeons this morning the first that came about lately slowing clover seed new ground ploughing by Cobbs grubing burning brush etc spaded up the plant bed in the garden,

20th Th

Fair mild. Sowed clover seed next to Canfields. Martin & I putting black smith shop up 2 of Mama, hands helping ploughing halled some logs fodder leaves etc sowed a plant bed in the garden Llewellyn went with Molly & George to T Castle after potatoes in little cart broke down

21st Fr

Fair warm finished putting up the logs of the shop had 6 poles to hall planted Irish potatoes ploughing on the fallowed land sent to mill burning brush swaped a duck with Mr Martin -

22nd Sat

Cdy a little rain Linnaeus pulled 2 teeth for Katy & dined hear we went to T Castle in the evening Edmond T Redd came over brought 2 turkeys swaped for 2 of mine he bought a mink skin brought over some turnips for seed etc I sowed a plant bed on the swamp in tobacco & cabbage seed etc etc halling brush manure to meddow etc sent Bro Saml saw home by Edmond W Swann had 1/2 bu potatoes Dr Gouldin soled his land

23rd Sun

Rainy day a great rain with a good deen[l] of thunder & lightning We came up home this evening (J Nowel & Olivia are at T. Castle)

24th M

Fair or Clear halled 2 lodes manure on meadow striping tobacco of hands Gatewood came down & got 691 lbs of tobacco I pd him $3.45 cts. a balance dew 2$.

25th Tus

Fair & mild sent Bob by T Castle for the waggon & to Mr John Turners for six bls corn halling out manure on the meadow scattering it etc Mr Martin Joh & I sawed down 3 trees for slabs getting them etc Bro Saml came by this evening

26th W
Sheep

Fair & mild Mr Martin finished getting the slabs about an hour be Sun fixing Mama' Doar etc sent the waggon to T Castle & cart for 5 sheep. halling manure diging holes for the peach trees by Dabs ploughing in the potatoe patch marked my sheep a slit in the right

27th Thu

Fair a little cool to day Mr Martin hued down the shop I sold him my hat for 2.$ I set out 40 peach trees by dabs halling manure ploughing finsihed the field by the house.

28th Fr
apple trees

Fair cool I soled 1.2 bu potatoes for 25 cts to Mrs Swann Miss Moriah Thompkins dined hear to day I went to Mr Terrells for some apple trees got 64 I am to pay 6$ went by Bro Addams to see him he is quite sick with cold diging holds for apple trees set out 2 or 3 rows halling manure to put around the trees Mr Martin coplled the rafters for the shop working for Mama on plough had uncommon weather for Febuary the last part
