a little snow in the morning a northwest wind more north halling wood sent corn to mill for chop and to grind in meal fencing halling the broken rails I came home Mama and Sarah went to T Castle 2 halling rails with 2 carts mine etc Commenced the fence on the line by my gate

fair very cold day a cold north wind fencing got to the gate by my house commenced on Brother Saml lot of fence I went to T Castle 2 fencing by the spring halling rails Dabney is sick

3rd F

fair very cold morning a north W and shifted to the south east this eve fencing burnt a plant bed at the new ground I had 2 shoes put on my horse John in front I came home this morning I saw Mr Kean at the shop Brother Haris passed the shop 2 fencing in the meddow halling rails from the new ground with 2 carts I divided the fence on line into half.

cdy very cold a north wind fencing by the out gate chopped the plant bed over at the new ground I went to Carmel to meeting Brother Dick preached tex learn of me for I am meek and loly in hart [Mt 11:29] I went to T Castle from meeting I paid Bro Tyler $1.00 for the ballance for shoes put up Sal in Goins house 2 fencing put a fence around the plant beads [beds] on the river halling rail with [t]wo carts

Sun 5th

snowed a little and snowed Saturday night cold day a north wind I went to Carmel Brother Harris preached Tex Thessalonians 5th Chap 17th verse pray without ceasing I staid at T Castle Jo Anderson diner there my little child is quite sick

Mon 6th

fair a cold day a north wind fencing by the hog shelter and on the lane fence stakeing commenced malling rails on the swamp I came home I made rust [roost] in the hen house I turned my calf in the field by the stack or shop 2 fencing over the dick [dike?] made a straight fence on the dick halling rails with 2 carts mine and Mama,

7th T.

fair cold a north west wind halling rails malling etc halling along the lane out to the rode I went to T Castle at night Dr Anderson went to Richmond 2 halling rails stoping the holds under the new fence Fleming is malling rails for the fence at the ivy hill

8th W.

fair a south west wind warmer than it has been fencing etc grubing Walker and Lewis etc malling rails at the swamp I went to T Castle to carry a piece of meet to Tomasia 2 malling rails ploughing halling rails wood etc trimming around the fence at the ivy hill sent 2 pair wedges to the shop to have pointed

9th Th

cdy a drop or two of rain a north east wind more north I came home Bob ploughing Walker commenced in the evening with single ploughs grubing in the wet bottom sent corn to the mill sent for chop etc 2 halling rails wood etc malling rails ploughing commenced on the swamp by the stack triming around the fence by the ivy hill

10th F

a rainy day fine rain north and n east w ploughing with single ploughs for corn grubing etc I went to T Castle at night 2 ploughing cleaning around the fence by ivy hill halling rails wood etc fixed a pen for thrashing oats

11th S

fair a north wind carryed the Barouch it is like the spring of the year ploughing grubing halling wood cleaning out the house etc took up the gate at the corner I came home from T Castle [?]nte [burnt?] the field where I am ploughing John Anderson came by he gave $1.00 for [rig?] to T. Castle for Thomasia to come home in 2 halling rails wood fencing commenced on the river commenced halling rails down to the river

12th Sun

snow and rain staid at T Castle all day a north east win cold day Linnaus went to Mrs Terrells on his way to the Boling Green to court

13th M.

rain a large sleat a west wind cold I came home from T. Castle went back at night went by Mt Airy to trim grape vines Anne gave me some ground peas [peanuts] etc John Anderson grubing malling rails etc came and took Dr Anderson’s pig 2 killed a beef the old cow fencing halling rails wood etc

14th T

clear or fair very cold morning and night last night it Snowed in the night Came home with Thomasia and children. Mrs McLaughlin came up with us. West and south west wind malling rails grubing halling wood etc Walker went to T. Castle for the things that wer left brought some grape slips etc shelling corn 2 fencing at the ivy hill and commenced putting up the fence through the meadow along the line between S Gouldin and Mama

15th W

cdy day or nearly so cold a south west wind it shifted to the north east in the evening halling oats into the barn. And beeting them out oats ploughed the garden sowing peas halled wood one load with my horse Tom Brother Saml, came over to day he says I must sow oats on his lot of land 2 fencing finished putting up the fence on the line by Mr Gouldin’s land beeting out oats halling rails wood etc

12 or 15 inches deep

Snow nearly all day the deepest snow we have had for several years it drifted about 12 or 15 inches deep - - a north wind or a East win turned out hal betting out oats halling wood 2 beeting out oats sent for Mr Walker Cobbs fan faned out 10 ½ bu oats halling rails wood etc moved the frame in the the barn

fair windy a west wind or S.W. win it snowed last night till nearly midnight. The snow drifted 3 feet deep in places it is 10 or 12 in deep generally finished nocking out the ballance of the oats in the Barn cutting wood and halling it to the house I made a latch for the old chamber doar - - I turned Sal out of Goins house she has been up 14 days in all 2 cutting wood halling Joseph hurt his back Mama is sick with the back ake

18th S

fair cold day. The snow melts slow a south west wind killed the beef cutting etc halling wood out of the lane Hal the black sow had her first liter of pigs she had seven one died to day. She was one year old the 3 of March she has pigs by my Berksher Boar. She has three black pigs and four spotted ones {Hal lost 3 of her pigs from cold they were chilled to death. 2 cutting wood halling etc cut a tree at the spring for wood sent the carriage to Mr Noels for Sister Sarah

fair warmer a south wind nearly all day I went to Carmel Brother Harris did not get to meeting to day the snow melted more to day than it did yesterday

fair a south west wind warmer the snow has melted a good deel to day faning out wheat 2 1/2 bu and 24 1/2 bushels oats halled a part of a load of oats and beet them out halling wood Mr Luck offered me al[l] his timber in the new ground piled up let Dr G have a flint for 5 dollars faned out 2 1/2 bu ruffle oats 2 cutting and halling wood beeting out oats Joseph and Dabney have lade up for several d

Beef for Miss Hill

fair, or rather cdy a south west wind the snow thord [thawed] a good deel to day I went to Mr Gouldins got a paper of tacks of him number 4’s I half sowled my boots to day nailed them on halled the stack of scoch oats over to day beeting them out I sent a quarter of beaf to Miss B Hill weighing 86 lbs she is to give 5 cts a lb for it V Luck sent for some fellow [felloe?] timber – halling wood etc 2 halling wood beeting out oats put up the stack of oats in the barn Joseph came out to day Dabney is still laid up

22nd W

fair a south west wind the snow has has melted more to day than common beeting out oats faned out 11 bushels of the schoch oats sent corn to the mill sent 2 bu of wheat for Mr Gouldin to pay for the wheat I borrowed Mrs McLaughlin went home to day Tom came for her and dined hear 2 halling wood beeting out oats 4 hands

Fair a cold west wind very cold day as cold as any day we have had this winter beeting out oats faned out 17 1/2 bu Scoch oats cutting rail timber and wood on Brother Saml lot halled 2 loads of wood William Swann came by and brought 2 stacks of oats he is to give 2/ a bushel for them sent Dr Anderson a quarter of beef weighing 70 lbs. 2 beeting out oats corn etc halling wood

Oats finished

Fair rather warmer west wind the foar [forward] part of the day it shifted to the south beeting out oats and finished the Scoch oats and finished the Scoch oats faned out 11 1/2 bu to day makeing 40 1/2 bu in all of the Scoch oats William Swann sent for a stack of oats to day it was a very cold night last night 2 beeting out oats finished beeting halling wood

fair warmer than it has been for some time a south and south west wind the snow melted more to day than it has for sevaal [several] days. halled rails along the lane from the beef pen sent the fan over to Mama, halling wood grubing etc Paid Fleming for 2 collars 2$ counted 2400 rails for the new fence 2 faning out oats finished faned 57 bu oats halling rails fencing beet out corn sent to mill etc

fair a north east wind rather cold I went to County Line Brother Mason preached tex 3 of John 12 verse I saw Andrew S. Broaddus at meeting William Samuel came over to day

snow in the morning rain the ballance of the day a north east wind the snow goes slowly I went to Mr Gouldins to make some plough lines commenced halling rails for the new fence halling wood grubing shelling corn John Anderson sent my pig home to day - - commenced on the corn in the upper corn house to day. 2 halling rails from the new ground cutting rail timber by the ivy hill fencing etc

rain a heavy one the wind shifted from the south to west it blew very hard thundered and lightned a good deel clear in the evening sent corn and oats for chop to mill commenced the new fence on the road fencing by the line halling rails I cut the house pig Canfield mended a chain made a swingle tree etc cut out the beef the last the snow melted a great deel to day mostly gone 2 striping tobacco in the shop halling wood etc faned out 12 bushels wheat and put it up in hogshead faned out some old wheat

29th W

fair warmer than it has been for some time a south west wind fencing halling rails etc the worm is laid about 350 yds about half way Linnaeus came hear this evening 2 halling rails malling rails to finish the fence at ivy hill finishing of the fence by Thackers --

30th T

fair a south wind shifted to the east in the evening quite warm fencing halling rails etc I watched the turkeys to nest I caught a tick Linnaeus came hear I cut his hair I sowed a plant bead in the garden to night 2 Fleming commenced malling rails on river by the Dr malling rails fencing halling rails finished the fence on the river except the part that covered with water there is a swell in the river

rain commenced about eleven and rand all day a east wind mostly, halling rails fencing got to the swamp Walker finished a hamper turned the 2 old sows in the pasture the Boar got out to night shelled corn etc [lined out: the old goose is hatching] Bob ploughed the garden covered the bed in the garden 2 sowing oats commenced sowed 3 bushels striping tobacco all hands the old steer fell down rakeing oats
